IDEAS FOR RYZOM

I have a suggestion for improvement to this game that would be greatly appreciated by many fighters. We all know that the magic users are at an advantage in this game. The armor is easier to create and wear, less bulky, and the magic spells do much more damage than melee weapons. The fighter is further burdened with heavy armor that cannot be used for any other purpose such as magic, digging, or crafting.

Many of the fighter's actions are already useful for weapons up to q275, such as the accurate attack stanza @275, and the increase damage @265. The fighter's strength will already allow the character to hold a level 260 weapon. Digging mats are not available above level 250, however, boss mats are available to level 270. So, if a melee weapons craft action was available in the four races that would create 260 level weapons, balance would be restored to the skills!

Melee is 100x better than magic in my opinion.

PvP jewels reduce magic damage of double 250 nukes to ~800. Not only are spells slow to cast but they can also be interrupted. Furthermore when you are casting a spell, melee users get an instant hit on you which ignores your dodge.

In terms of melee in this game I will just give 2 examples. 2H axe user (with pvp jewels) would completely destroy a magic user. F2P 2H axe wielders have killed level 250 mages in duels. Master 2H would put out ~1200 per hit and the melee user would have more hp from the HA. Daggers are the most fun you can have and many people hate being against them- especially mages. Tekorn daggers reduce mages to just enchants as they are unable to cast due to stuns/crit hits. It isn't unusual to see a duel between dagger master and ele master ending in the dagger master not taking any damage at all.

Only in OP wars do you see a lot of nuking and this is because many people don't have good pvp jewels.

I know you are mostly concerned with PvP; however, that is a minor portion of the gameplay. Thank you for pointing out the PvP jewel issue.

Even in PVE sitatuons. Mages run out of sap without support and they cant take damage well. A master tank can solo a whole KP- a master mage would die very quickly.

imagine what a master digger would do :p, or worse a master crafter :D

Under existing game mechanics, crafters access a craft action +10 of their level already. So a level 250 crafter could have a 260 craft action as a natural extension of gameplay.

and taking beta into account i should have lvl q500 in defence by now  (if not higher)

The gameplay is so incredibly biased towards magician, it almost leaves me breathless. Amazingly out-of-balance with any other fighting skills. Magician attacks are TRIPLE of other weapons. Achievement of rank is HALF the time. At first I thought it was the materials that were the problem, but now I see otherwise.

Funny..

As a magician purist who has also done some melee for the sole purpose of rising HP it always seemed to me that it went faster for Melee than Elemental, certainly faster than heals, let alone afflictions.

However as with any skill, you only need to find the right grinding method for you and use it in a manner that suits you well.

Also, one of the first things Silan teaches refugees is precisely what you're complaining about, but its not all imbalanced: whilst a magician deals more damage (ignoring jewels etc), he/she is also more vulnerable in the sense that: he cannot dodge while casting, LA means you have less hp, so while you could (again, ignoring jewels) kill something pretty quickly, you can also die pretty easily.. to me that balances the whole thing

Of course this is just my opinion, yours may vary etc.

Yes magic can do tripe damage. But how many nukes can a mage do before running out of sap? Mages require upkeep, and a lot of it. For mages to solo things or go without healers they need to use single nukes which is around the same damage as 2h weapons.

Don't even talk to me about being unbalanced TOWARD mages. I am a healer. I have mastered elemental magic, melee, and healing. I can stand there in a team and heal for 2 solid hours and come out of it with nothing. No mats ever go to the healer, it's the melee who collect them. If someone dies because I ran out of sap, guess who gets yelled at, hint: it's not the melee who doesn't back-heal.

Also, who ever decided that all professions should be balanced? I think the balancing of all skills and races is un-natural.

Beepe, dedicated healer in spite of the unbalancing

Then you are doing something wrong.

As a healer I'm usually bored to death. So in between i loot the mobs and pull the next. My melees never have time to loot (;

Also: solo fighters have an advantage, but a mage duo can take down a couple.

Going back to the original proposal, i dont think 260 weapons would provide any benefit; max dmg is based on your skill level which doesnt go above 250...
