I've seen this kind of patch error a couple of times and what seems to fix it most of the time is using a ryzom backup if you got one or redownloading installing it in another location and then moving your save files. Seems that fixes the patch error for most ppl (there might be a faster way but I've never heard of it).

I had the exact same problem! Still, reinstalling from backup is kinda harsh, would be nice to find out what's triggering it. Are we subjected to some sort of A/B testing? :D

It seems to try to patch from your local host instead of from a server on the internet.

1) A possibility is that you compiled the client on your own and used a wrong setting at some point
2) you're using the linux/mac client and some error snuck into it during it's compilation
3) you (or something else) played around with the client config and changed the patch URL (eg. you were testing on your own server and forgot to change something back to the original value - might be that config-switching app by someone else here on the forum as well)

That's all the possibilities I'm able to think of

Did you run ryzom_recover.exe? that one is known to corrupt files... but i'm not sure if it is still included in new downloads :-)

I recommend to save the whole ryzom folder to a USB stick or similar from time to time. That way, you always have a fallback. Even if forgotten for a few weeks or so, it will still work. And you can carry it to another box with the same OS easily (works under Windows and Linux, no idea about Mac).

I had that one at some point last night - when I 1st tried to log in - then I got an enormous patch when I tried to relaunch ...
short version of my problem: I have reinstalled ryzom (saved save files) and when I try to launch it reduces the Ryzom window to the task bar at the bottom - and disappears - no window to be seen anymore - just a little icon on the task bar ...

I can hear it trying to do something ...

Will continue looking at these forums to check for similar experience

Solved the lack of log-in window problem - shift and right click - then maximise - but ...

Sometimes when the game crashes, the Ryzom window will "fall off" the screen as in it is outside the area you see displayed. It looks like it is minimized and only appears on the task bar. As Binarabi says, the thing to do if this happens is to: on Taskbar do a shift + rightclick on Ryzom > Move > and move the window with the arrow keys or choose Maximise

This fix is only valid for Windows OS as far as I know.

I have been trying for a couple of weeks now...have not been able to get past sign-in screen. Does anyone have any advice or a spare patch lying around, I would really like to get back into the game. I will be grateful for any help you can give me.

More details? Is it crashing, and if yes, with what error?
