Amoral gutless fight-for-you-life PVP, mmm - that's the way it should be )
This is the way I would personally want it. I want PvP zones to be ruthless and players have to step with care. With the declining PvP playerbase though this only drives possible future PvPers away. i hope that we can pick up more PvPers to a level where tagged PvP is something you can find anywhere at anytime :)

Accept what Gkr? Your question confuses me.

Yeah, OK, I'll go slow on you.

Earlier in this thread I told you about an incident on kami side where (Ulsort) did the same thing to one of my guys and I was telling you, you take this guy side, but you ignore the "big picture" and if you want to make people "learn" the "moral codes" you should do it to everybody, not just X or Y.

Fail to see this, and it means you are subjective as in, seeing only what you want to see and ignore the rest.

Is this better?

Why dont you tell this guy how it was on Arispotel, where everybody wil freak out if get attacked, maybe he will see the "big picture" and realize why people left.. because PvP was sterile.

And yet you bring same ideas into this new server... you are part of the problem not solution. No hard feelings :-(

It partially is now; I still don't understand "accept it for once". I have seen no other accusations of me being subjective. I did not take Ulsort's side I simply said:
Virg
I don't see the point in bringing other peoples actions into this- all I am doing is making my feelings clear on the topic at hand.
I did not condemn what Ulsort had done neither did I say it was right. I did not want to delve into a situation in which I did not know the circumstances and go off topic. If it was a gank pure and simple then I don't agree with it. Would you like to list more people who have ganked in the past for me to condemn? I am not being subjective, I have my opinion and that is that.

That means you tend to be subjective (or as you put it have your own opinion) but it if the opinion doesnt include all the angles, it is subjective, nevertheless.

Well, I personally dont have a problem with neither of these situations, this is my personal opinion, which is subjective as well.

But the rule of the game says "PvP Map - expect to be attacked by anyone for any reasons" that is the ultimate opinion, fail to understand it... well...

I'll stop here but for further references, while I might not attack you in a map, I expect you to attack me and I'm prepared for it and so should you, no questions asked. I'm addressing this to anyone reading the thread not just particular people.

And I feel this is the way to feel about a PvP Map, but this is subjective..

Cheers

Well what I would like to happen and what I think needs to happen are two entirely different things, as you can see from my reply to Sekumbe.

Edit: Just to add I personally liked being attacked when I am unprepared. Nothing like the thrill of quickly sticking on pvp gear and trying to defend yourself and I wish there was more of that happening to me in the game. However many people I think would benefit from a heads up and enjoy the thrill of a fight if they had a little time to prepare.

Ah and one more thing. If we really had a Faction War, that really works, people would really think about the faction they would want to join, not only from the "gear and fun" perspective but it would require you to read the lore and see whatever works for you because you're going to _hate_ the other factions, the way it was designed - because you are at war and people will ruthlessly attack you and you will become that kami/karavan/marauder you chosen to be, but I digress...................................

I really don't understand the point of this discussion. Some fella got ganked while in PVP zone. Don't go to PVP zone - problem solved. If there is PVP there will be gank. There is not one game out there, where there is PVP and there is no gank.

If you go to PVP zone, and you get killed without any duel proposals and warnings, be more careful next time and understand, that gathering resources in PVP zone is dangerous (and thrilling, yes).

Have a revenge maybe. Ingame. Not on forums. Roleplay it, whatever. What is the point of writing all that "PVP should be honorable" stuff? Or that sick theory, that people won't go to PVP zone, because you get ganked while gathering resources in it. Is that whining I read? :) Not all characters should be honorable and give you a tell "I'm sorry, can I gank you, are you ready, or should I wait for a minute or two?". They are amoral bandits, they kill random homini for pleasure, so deal with it and move on.

Because Ryzom has a very nice community and we tend to be friends to each other... but sometimes you have to accept that while we are friends we have to kill each other too in *any* ways possible :-/

true Gkr and if the game had been played like that when I started playing with Suboxide ears ago I would be able to follow you. But I've (and alot others) where on a server for a long time  where we became friends with ppl from all factions. And I won't just call all my friends from back then my enemy now because of an unwanted merger with servers that did have the whole your are my ennemy because you live in other town gameplay wich we didn't have.

Adaptation from "I have a dream" by "Martin Luther King"
I have a dream that one day this world will rise up and live out the true meaning of its creed: "We hold these truths to be self-evident: that all homin are created equal." I have a dream that one day on the hills of Fairhaven the sons of former homins left behind and the sons of former homins that were lucky enough to be rescued will be able to sit down together at a campfire of brotherhood. I have a dream that one day even the Matis, a state, sweltering with the heat of injustice and sweltering with the heat of oppression, will be transformed into an oasis of freedom and justice. I have a dream that my 64 little guildies will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin or the religion they follow but by the content of their character. I have a dream today.

Well, let's have a Tea-Party-Zone instead of PVP one? Or maybe Dancing-and-Singing-together zone. With high lvl resources in it.

In all seriousness I believe the Ryzom's problem with PvP is that, it's not easy to get there... you have to work a lot.. you need serious help to get there... and usually those who stick around for so long to be able to do it.. are friends with almost everybody on the server...

And while this is OK, i still fail to get why people are upset they get killed in a PvP map.. what is the meaning of PvP if not killing each other?

And since people threat it as something immoral it will always be a tabu subject...

NO! change that, tell your guildies about PvP make them aware... at least in PvP maps... where others can hurt you... is not that hard is it? but a lot of people are misinformed and if someone wants to do PvP they see him as an outcast.......

Hi Virg, thanks for the advise and I understand your point of view but what I am about to do, I do not want any Monk to feel the repercussions. There are only one guild member currently playing that can handle any blow-back, the rest are newbies and only 1 is P2P now and close to master hood I think.

I reread all the posts and yes some of you missed the entire point... As I stated, you know my name, you know where to find me and you better not come alone...

Happy days, be safe and lee killing toons who are almost dead anyway since that seems to be the moral of this story for PvP areas...

Eutrigan.
