I've made a utility for the Mac version of the client that lets you backup and restore the config file or swap out between several different configs. Im working on a Linux version too.

Why would you want to do this? The default client does not allow you to keep track of multiple servers, which makes testing apps between your private server and the public server a real pain.

Note this does not edit the configs, you will have to do that yourself. This just manages the config files.

You can download it at http://ryzomcity.org in the download area...

Let me know if you need help!

I see that you changing client_default.cfg file.

Everything found in that file can be added to client.cfg. It's particularly important in windows where changes to client_default.cfg will trigger patching.

Thanks for pointing that out - i don't support windows in it right now but i will change it for the future. Where does the clients user-specific config get stored? I don't see anything in my config dirs related to ryzom, which is why i set it up to point to the global config file. What should i point it to?

First, client checks client.cfg from current working directory (ie, where the program is launched) and if not present, then:
* (windows) User\AppData\Ryzom probably (CSIDL_APPDATA)
* (OSX) HOME/Library/Application Support/Ryzom
* (Linux) HOME/.ryzom
