It would be nice to have like once a month an event to meet the developers behind the game. It could be an in game event rotating between the capitals. A place where players, csr, developers and owners could come together and tell about progress, and maybe have a little q&a section.

That or at least an official "Ask the devs" thread on forums would be nice indeed.

+++ Maybe just a place where I could say "Thank you".

Not to sound bitter, but if they had anything to talk about they'd be updating the Notice Board thread and other various means of communication. The "behind the scenes" problem is exactly that, not much happening (that can be talked about).

AFAIK, there would be a big problem :

We, players, want mostly hear about the development regarding the gameplay (adding, changing, etc.) while the DEV would probably be speaking about maintenance operations, resolving bug issues and so on... And while these things are probably very important, we cannot them.

All in all, I don't know if it would be interesting to have a "meet the DEV" event.

It would probably more interesting to hear about the owners of the game and hear if they actually want to implement any change or keep on doing what they are currently doing.

And event if we did that, we'd probably have no guarantee that the promises told (let's face it, the "comm" team likes to promise many things) would be realised.

So in the end, I guess this kind of event would bring nothing except more frustration...

Hey, it would be fun to have a "meet everybody event" on Cyprus, where Winchgate is incorporated. We could try to organize a LAN party where we could all play Ryzom together, do things together in RL and also talk about the game. I'm well aware that this is a crazy idea, and lots of good folks wouldn't be able to make it, but maybe there's some possibility for fun & brainstorming. I've never been to Cyprus, and would seriously consider...

They tried the meet the event team/csr team on aristople some years ago. Turned out ugly (really ugly).
First time ppl demanding why matis got ALL the events at the time and so on.
Second time they tried it some months later the event team char didn't want to apoligize for lies he told the CSRs after an event to get me and binarabi banned (with his problem being i was in that channel with event team and csrs and he forgot I was there and the lie he told about me an bina was so bad since bina wasn't even in the event let alone online at the time). That meeting turned out so ugly they ported away and never did these meetings again.

Oh… I guess as a developer myself, I am more interested in the tech part and learning some stuff, rather than discussing the actual gameplay. I can now see that such a meeting might not work as well in this game as it does in eg PlaneShift. It's a shame tho, cause those kind of meetings can be pretty nice and help to get coders / artists interested to contribute to the open source part of it. But it depends on the players to understand and respect the dev team.

Drogos there is always CeB where you can chat and ask some of the CSR's / event team some questions (not many use it anymore but don't even think it's still on the new website: http://code.google.com/p/cebmtpchat/ )

AND

There is somewhere a ryzom irc channel for the devs and the opensource community, I've never used it but I've heard it actually gets used => #ryzom in irc.freenode.net => I don't know if Ulukyn is actually on there since i've never used it but it might be a good place to start.

AND

there is the google+ page for the ryzom core aswell and much more can find most of this stuff on http://www.ryzomcore.org/

> CEB is for the normal player needing help and such
> the other 2 are for devs
