in the client.cfg file, check the settings for the resolution make sure that the resolution set is LOWER then the max resolution of the desktop setting in windows.

and make sure that full screen is a 0, zero (that's off)

windowed mode would be a 1, one (that's on)

might also try simply renaming your client.cfg file to client_old.cfg. That will guarantee that any oddities in the cfg file are not affecting the program.
