#2 [en]

The young pearl diver looked over to the large mound of fresh soil mixed with debris of broken bark on the close-by island, her heart full of anger. Again and again and again! Why couldn't they just leave us alone?! She clenched her fists. Well, if these bloody bugs wanted trouble, they would get trouble! She remembered the Second Swarm well, even though she had been much younger. Too young to fight, her older brother had said to her. But if they attacked this time no one would keep her from kicking some Kitin ass! She looked at the Lor-Lopper Axe in her pack. Well, maybe with a little help.

Ba'Doppy Aemie's gaze wandered again to the Kitin mound on the neighboring island. Was it just imagination or could she really feel the bark tremble beneath her feet? How many Kitins were digging their way through the ground at the very moment she was here, staying hidden behind a small but dense bamboo thicket? With that thought her heart pounded and she shivered in dread.

Maybe her uncle was right. He often told her about the Kitin observation camps he had helped build in the 2540's. They had been manned by small groups of skilled fighters and had kept the Kitins in check for a long time, reporting to the capitals about the movement of Kitin forces. She had heard travelers reminiscing about these camps recently when she was selling her pearls on the market in Crystabell. They had really wanted to rebuild those camps!

She bit her lower lip. If they did ... maybe she could help somehow ... she wasn't a good digger but she was fast and strong and had learned how to sneak around Cloppers, Goaris and even small Kinchers! A cold chill ran down her spine as a big Kipucka sent his roar echoing across the waves. Slowly she crawled backwards from her hiding place and returned to Crystabell.

Only a few days later, the leaders of all four Nations of the homin peoples called for hominity to rebuild the camps once again.

(OOC: Dear Players,
Beginning on Tuesday, 1st October, you will have the possibility to rebuild the Kitin observation camps again. For each country there is a central building camp where you can get the missions for this event. Here are the locations of the building camps:

Fyros: Fourways, west of Pyr (Imperial Dunes)
Matis: Southeast of the Matis Arena (Majestic Garden)
Tryker: South of Greenvale Trading post, west of Fairhaven (Liberty Lake)
Zorai: West of Still Waters (Cities of Intuition)

In these central camps you can accept different missions for the six construction sites. This includes both collecting mission materials and transporting them to where they are needed. Please be aware that the sites where you can find the materials may not be safe for lone harvesters. It is recommended to go there in groups.
The missions will reward you with Civilization Faction Points.)

The following notice is posted underneath a set of maps, carefully drawn, that are attached to the walls of the stables in all cities in the New Lands. The maps are old, but the markings on them are freshly drawn.

Notice to All Homins.
Mounds of Bark have been thrown up recently by Kitins of the Depths, also known as white kitins. The maps above indicate the location of known Kitin Mounds. Below are evaluations of the threat level of each mound as determined by independent homins under the auspices of the Rangers of Atys.

WARNING: The white kitins in the mounds are currently non-aggressive. The Rangers do not expect this condition to last. They may attack without warning. All homins should be prepared to defend their cities, their clans and their families at any time.
The following words are attached to a piece of paper glued to one side of the message.
=============EDIT:
WARNING Roaming pods of threes of aggressive white kitins have been marked by red circles on the map. (Approximate locations only). I am in the process of editing the locations with the species indications for the kitins in the pod. If there are two letters in a circle it means that the composition of the pod has changed. The codes are as follows:
Kiban = B
Kincher = C
Kidinak = D
Kizoar = O
Kipuka = P
Kirosta = R
Kipesta = S
Kinrey = Y
* = Furious KotD (q150)

There have been no reports of kizarak or kipee white kitins.
End Edit ===============

All homins who are able to do so should support the building of the Kitin Observation Camps. Close observation of kitin behavior is critical to the defense of all Nations.

Below are the current observations of Kitin Mounds. Messengers will update these observations as soon as new information is received. Mound numbers are assigned in order of observation and do not indicate threat level or importance. Homins who discover additional Mounds or changes in the populations of kitins should send a message by Izam Mail to me.

Mac'Od Bittty, Ranger Aspirant.

A hastily scrawled note is added below the maps.

While investigating Arfur's report of a mound near Runninghill Research Centre, I encountered two sets of Furious KotD (kidinak and kipesta) that immediately attacked me! These KotD were not associated with a Mound.

WARNING -- Until further investigation, assume all KotD will attack on sight!

i can confirm only the random spawns of KotD are aggro, all mound related kitin are still non-aggro unless provoked by an attack. please inform all homin of this important information.

The following note is posted. It is well scribed, but the capital letters are a little sloppy.

To all who read these letters: Greetings!

Note:Several reporters have confirmed that TalkIRC's observation is (so far), correct. White kitins in the Mounds are still non-aggressive. This could change at any time.

There is a report of a Mound in Heretics Hovel near the construction site for the Observation Camp. If someone could send me a more precise location, I will add it to the map.

The location of the Mound in Outlaw Canyon has been verified and added to the Desert map as mound #5. Population of white kitins and threat level are undetermined.

Aggressive white kitins:

Daomei reports:

In Frahar Towers, roughly 200m ne of FT border post OP, a group of furious KOTD dwells, no mound. These beasts are aggressive.
Same about 100m ne of FT stronghold, also a group of furious KOTD (this time Kidinak, not Kipucka), no mound, aggressive. Maybe more coming.

Locations of aggressive white kitins are being indicated with red circles on the maps.

A group of 3 agressive KotD just 300m northeast of Towerbridge.  They are encroaching - is this happening in other regions?

Confirmed! I came across 3 Kotd kinreys roaming in South fleeting gardens half way between kara tp and kami tp near road. quickly dispatched them and didnt hang around to see if they respawned. Then encountered 3 more kinchers between kara tp and Den of Fury. none were attached to a mound and all were aggressive! Help, we have an infestation!
Sigh! Already an edit:
met up with several groups of roaming Kinreys on the road to GoC from tower bridge. about half way too. No mound association and they are aggresive!

White KotD now all over the Knoll of Dissent, from Killing Tree and Smitten Mount in the east to Little Mountain and the Ramp in the west.  There is a Kitin Mound on the east slopes of Tunnel of Woe, by Runninghill Reserach Centre.

These KotD are in groups of 3 or more and are of many kinds including knichers, kirostas, kinreys and Kidinak, Krostas and Kipuckas.

These are all agressive, although I have heard that those near a mound are not.

There is another Kitin Mound in the centre of Fearing Fens, Upper Bog.

White KotD in groups of 3 all over Fleeting Garden, but quite widely spread.  These are just called 'Kitin of the Deep' and are lvl100.  Those I saw in KoD are 'Furious' lvl150, Terrible and Atrocious both 4 star (to me at least).

The following is hurriedly posted below the maps and the maps show signs of recent editing.

My apologies for the delays in the updates. I have updated the maps for Witherings, Majestic Gardens and Burning Desert.

It is not clear if the newly reported Mound in Fearing Fens is a new Mound or just a new Report.

The white kitins in the Mounds continue to be non-agressive, but the infestations of the aggressive white kitins seem to be spreading at least in the Forest and the Jungle. Since they roam a good deal, the locations indicated by the red circles must be regarded only as approximations and all homins should take precautions and travel in groups.

Please continue to report your observations. All hominkind should take care. The construction of the Observation Camps would seem to be of the highest priority while research on the elimination of the Mounds continues.

This note has been edited with a much worse hand, using orange ink.
More news for homins.

The map of the Desert has been updated to reflect sightings of more aggressive white kitins SE of Dyron and just west of the Oflovak's Oasis Karavan altar. Both groups are in the Frahar Towers territory.

There is a rumor of aggressive white kitins in Loria, but no confirmation yet. Other than that rumor there have been no reports of aggressive white kitins in Aeden Aqueous at all. This doesn't seem likely to me, but perhaps the natural barriers in the region have kept them from roaming.

The infestation of aggressive white kitins in Maiden Grove has drastically increased in numbers. It is now getting difficult to do proper magnetic field measurements, especially in the southern part of the region. I can't imagine what it must be like for harvesters. Surely there are some equally aggressive homins?

To whom it may concern:

I was trotting around Maiden Grove the other day, looking for good spots to make my magnetic field measurements when I spotted yet another pod of aggressive white kitins. Surely the Circle of Defense should be sending out patrols so that humble researchers and mappers such as myself can travel with only the usual and familiar dangers of torbaks and raguses!

Could not the special Anti-Kitin guards do something?
