#16 [en]

quickly dispatched message to bittty:

after many days and nights of travel in various regions of the big tree, i've come to find that the aggressive KoTD are always in small groups of 3, and will only be of one type of KoTD, they are of the top level of the region in which they are found, so if your treking in a 50-100 zone and find any they will all be of lvl 100 and a group of 3, where the mounds have all levels from 50 to 250 and also in groups of 4 at the mounds.

note to all hunters and anyone else interested in hunting aggro kitins, a simple targeting macro can be made to hunt these with some ease, each of these names should be added to a "target an entitiy" command in the macro:

"feeble kitin" ; "kitin" (note that this will also hit on the kipee at the mounds) ; "furious kitin" ; "terrible kitin" ; "atrocious kitin"

these are the names of the roaming kitin and the kitin at the mounds, but in a region they will be in a group of 3 and aggression, at the various levels with each name, 50, 100, 150, 200, 250. please note that they type of kitin doesn't reflect the level of the kitin if it's a roaming group of 3, i have seen lvl 100 kinrey in Maiden Grove (aggo).

though i must return to my exploration of this amazing and dangerous world, i will attempt to send more reports if and as needed.

you friendly helper,

Two mounds one on each side of Underway Arch Stronghold in Grove of Umbra, and another 220m west. A fourth 200m east of Doomed Maze Farm. No KotD around.

Thank you, Arfur. The locations have been added to the map of Witherings, and the descriptions added to the legend for the map.

I want to explain something about the process of building the camps.

Basic math as far as I heard and checked:
1 successful ride to a camp yields .04% progress.
In other words, 25 successful rides = 1%

BUT: If there are no mats from the prospector's missions, there will be NO progress for the given camp

Digging missions are taken at the prospector in the base camp. They have no cooldown, one may dig the mats in advance, go to the prospector, and deliver all mats one after the other.

Math for digging missions as far as we know and checked:
1 material delivery for a camp suffices for .125% progress.
That means, 8 times digging necessary for 1% progress.

Kindly mind that digging missions are the prerequisite for riders' success. Do not neglect them.

Check for the situation at
Kitin Observation Camps Reconstruction: Status and Informations

Riders please report any status update to me (ig mail or tell).

The large mound with Kitins of the Depths and large green Kipees in Cities of Intuition close to the bandits "birds of omen" ( a little bit to the northwest from the bandit-camp) north of Mektoub waterhole has now reappeared, and the two mounds northwest of Zora as well.

Same goes for at least 4 mounds in Sly Lake / hidden lake in the Grove of Umbra close to Maiden Grove. I might be wrong, but I think they're a bit more north now than on the older map posted here... Guess we are supposed to say that they have always been there since their first appearance, just haven't been noticed by us sometimes?

Thank you for your report. I will certainly investigate and correct the maps if they are wrong.

Added in a quickly done hand:

A quick run around to the locations mentioned showed no significant discrepancy between the locations of the Mounds and their location on the published map.

The following note is added to the thick wad of information underneath the maps. It is clear that the map of Aeden Aqueous has been recently updated.

Bitttymacod to all who read these messages.

I received a recent report from Mannicmatt and Yves of aggressive white kitins in Dew Drops and in Winds of Muse. The locations reported have been added to the maps.

Please note the concentration of white kitins near the Witchy Coves Observation Camp, currently under construction. Please take care as you travel.

[Attached in the usual fashion to the now very thick packet of notes, a new one appears.]

Quarta, Medis 22, 3AC, 2575

While on a routine digging mission in Kitin Lair, I discovered a major pack of Terrible Kitin of the Depths of the Kidinak species grouped at the intersection of the two paths that lead from the gate to the Egg Room. There was no mound present. (There is a small Mound near the entrance that has been there for some time and has no kitins in it.)

The noble homins, Corwin, Nuno, Eutrigan, Alrekur, and Nuno's Nurses, Atiza and Awiza, answered the call and exterminated the pack. However, all homins are advised to be more careful than usual in the Kitins Lair.

P.S. They haven't come back as of some time later, thank goodness.

On Medis 15, 3rd AC 2575 (OOC: November 3rd 2013 late in the evening) during the time of Anlor Winn (Halloween-events) some of us followed a call to the Kitin-lair by Tamarea la Maléfique "Totally not Daulath". She said "If you like really big surprises, go to Almati Kitinlair! This doesn't smells like a trap at all, just go there" And she said there would be cake: "Definitly is a cake. A singing cake."

What we found was this:

It took a long time to get this beast on it's knees. But in the end it was all a lie *sniff* Because it didn't taste like cake at all! I think the Kidinaks might have been the left-overs from that time...

the hunter known as talkirc is very sorry to have missed this action, but was detained by the call of the faithful to aid in a very pressing set of issues, thus was unable to help defend homin kind from this evil threat.

In the usual careful hand, characteristic of the Guild, the fine paper is attached to the clump of notes.

Mac'Od Bittty to all...

While patroling in the Knoll of Dissent I noted two more squads of white kitin, near the vortex to Abyss of Ichor. I have marked them on the map. However, I also noted that as of the present time, Harvestor 24, 3AC 2575 (7 Nov 2013, 0815 UTC) the complex of Kitin Mounds near Tunnel of Woe seems to have disappeared.

I can only think that this portends some dire tactic on the part of the Kitins. All homins should be on increased alert for unusual activity.

*"As Naema peruses through news reports while drinking her morning fresh flower petal tea, she sees Bitttymacods report of kotd in Kod forest and quickly heads out to dispatch them. Some are already calling her a Kitin Mass Murderer, but she knows she is not worthy yet of the title. However, she does believe she is single handedly responsible for Irradicating the Kitin mound near Dyron, (permanently hopefully!). After the roaming patrols in KoD are gone, she quickly starts off roaming for other pests to destroy, wondering if she is not interfering with Bitttys research efforts... yet knowing she is making the way clear for tender young homins everywhere"*

To all who may read this:

While delivering supplies to Loria Stronghold Observation camp I noticed two more clusters of white kitins. The locations have been added. Supply trains should stick close to the east wall near Loria gate to avoid them.

3 more 'packs' (3 each), of roaming furious kitins of the deep irradicated, two of the kiro type east of Smitten mount farm in KoD forest, and one pack of the kinrey type west of smitten mount farm. going to irradicate another kinrey type after i recover west of same farm. :D

A new note is posted beneath the maps.

I take pen in hand quickly to report my recent observations in the Burning Desert and observations of a guildmate in Fleeting Garden.

In the Desert I have found five "pods" (groups of three) of the aggressive white kitins in Oflovaks Oasis. All are along the border between OO and Frahar Towers, three in the south near West Blackburn Border Post and two in the far north. In addition, I located several more pods of Furious Kitins of the Depths and have located their approximate positions on the map.

In the Forest, Tung reported a pod of white kitins just SW of the road junction at the border of Majestic and Fleeting Gardens. The location has been added to the maps.

This represents, however, an increasing population of these aggressive kitins, and their spread into areas frequented by young homins just beginning to make their way in the world. I hope that those with more experience and expertise will undertake to eradicate them when they appear, and to help the younger homins learn how to fight against our foe.

I also feel that all homins of all experience should work harder at building the Kitin Observation Camps. Harvesting and delivering of building materials has been progressing at a very slow rate. Our mutual enemy will not wait for our convenience, I think.

Mac'Od Bittty

A seal is affixed to each copy
