I can't find the link now, but I remember reading something about advanced professions or skills. Are these real? IF so, can someone explain what they are, or point me to a link that explains them?

Thank you :)

#2 Report | Quote[en]

Perhaps I found the link here: http://app.ryzom.com/app_rpjobs/index.php?from_index=1

I will read up on them now.

#3 Report | Quote[en]

For now they are turned off.

In October last year, the previous 3 language servers were merged into one, and with that operation, various features were turned off. Advanced occupations, inviting people in your apartment, the API etc .. The dev team promises everything will return, but no ETA :)

Thank you for the info. When they were turned on, was it possible to learn all of the professions? Or were we limited to one or two?

#5 Report | Quote[en]

IIRC you were limited to two

you could learn all two advanced occupations, there were not more (though more were announced once). I hope they will come back some day.

I read up on them and it looks like you could chose two of the occupations. I understand that the developers want us to make choices but I think it would be pretty cool and in the spirit of open-endedness to let us learn all of them :)

#8 Report | Quote[en]

You misunderstood what you read. There were never more than the 2 advanced occupations, namely alchemist and crystal artificer. I mastered and practised both. Would there have been more, I would have taken them, too.

There were certain dependencies between the two occupations. Mastery points of the one decreased somewhat when you practised the other, making it necessary to practise both of them not to lose skill in one of them (similar to fame gains/losses in oppositely aligned tribes)

As I said, I hope that they will come back. The crystal artificer will not make equally sense though, as only f2p need cats nowadays, and q200 and 250 cats are worthless (or equal to q150 cats).

There are occupations (8 at the moment) and (in addition) there were 2 advanced occupations before server merge (I heard that at a time there was a third one that was maybe removed, or never been available, because of some troubles with aura system).

And, amongst the 8 occupations, you can only pick 3 at a time, but you can master the 8 of them, alternatively.

About the 2 advanced occupations, it's as Daomei wrote.

Be careful about writing occupation or advanced occupation.

REGARDING OCCUPATION, Currently only the "Magician" can revive those in coma. For those who do not want to participate in "magic"

How about a new occupation like "Tribal Medicine" and I do not mean "witch doctor" but a real healer where you can learn to use herbs, plants, trees, minerals, foraging to become a true healer for others benefit not just your own.

To help others to revive from coma. Missions could include going into "danger" zones to find Goo heads or Looters that are sick. Assessing what kind of sickness, then making medicines by foraging to help heal them. They can apply 'ointments, pastes, serums, antibiotics," to help heal. This occupation can be used to always help others both "good" and "bad" characters. They could even be used to help find and heal animals.

Magic uses potions, and can cast spells which can harm others and can kill, but these also heal. I would like to be able to help others by healing and reviving without being a "Magician". You have created a wonderful game where I can hunt, and gather, forage and create and craft.

Because magic is said in the bible to be something to avoid, I play Ryzom but I do not practice any of the magical art even though they are pretty cool and are helpful at times to those who are in comas. But despite how inticing those arts are, I am unable to avail myself to these.

Would you ever consider creating another "occupation" Such has "Tribal healer" or "Medical Doctor"
so that I can be bale to heal and revive like the Magicians are able to?

That would be so stinking cool!

Ahzaijah, I remember having thought of the same kind of things, while not sharing the same "faith" according to what you call "bible" (i guess you're talking about the commandements of Jena, or at least those the Karavan spread)
Anyway, if a more precise idea emerge, please write it under the Ideas for Ryzom section of the forum.
If i have time i may retrieve what I wrote myself on Aniro's forum.

Ahzaijah --

My point of view on "magicians"  in Atys is that homins all have a natural ability to heal and to harm that can be trained just as strength of arm can be trained.  When you (your character) first talk to the Zorai Mage teacher he points out that all homins possess the ability to defend themselves from attack using Acid - it makes sense that the healing arts would be as natural as the harming arts.

However, I also see your idea as a good one.  We do have healing potions and the like, but they can only be self-applied so when one is in a coma they are worthless.  If we allowed the application of the same potions/consumables from the outside (with the same delay time for action so as not to unbalance things) that would allow someone to heal even if they were a spell-user and out of sap.  It wouldn't be fast, but it would be better than nothing.

I doubt, however, that we will ever discover player-usable potions to heal animals, not because it is impossible according to Lore, but simply because coding it and balancing it would be near-impossible.

Ok, I understand things much better now. You can pick any 3 of 8 to learn at a given time. Does that mean you have to basically "unlearn" one to make room for another one? Or can you keep your knowledge of them and eventually have all 8 in your repertoire, but only able to work on 3 at once?

#14 Report | Quote[en]

no, you have not to unlearn, and won't lose experience gained in an occupation. Only, when you give up an occupation, you cannot retake it before 46hrs elapsed. In fact, you may practise 4.5 occupations per day, because you may practise one, give it up afterwards, then take another one and practise it. The maximum of occupations doable during a day is 6 (giving up 3 after practising, taking 3 new ones), but due to the 2day cooldown it boils down to an average maximum of 4.5 - I did that in the old times in order to get as much products as possible for alchemy potions and cats crafting.
