#1 Report | Quote[en]

2 days ago I started Ryzom and it started patching the 124mb (or so) patch, which was successful as at some point it finished and asked for a restart of the client.

After that I was asked to update my Graphic Card driver to the up-to-date version, which curiously wasn't the one mentioned by Ryzom, but at least the link to the NVidia page was correct.

I up-dated my GraCa driver to 310.90, but Ryzom still shows the "need for an update of version", as followed:
Your video drivers are not up-to-date. Device NVidia GeForce GT425M, current driver 1.0.9.0, recommended version 6.1.7.6

When I now start the ryzom client the following happens:
1. message to up-date GraCa driver (which I click on no) then
2. the log in screen appears (the old one) based on version FV 1.2.0.904
3. I log on and the patcher start and runs up to file(?) 236 as usual
4. patch of 42mb is shown with 11 packets and....
error message shows stating: patch failure

I tried as suggested to change the name of the "data" folder (e.g. into data2) and start the client.
It results in a sequence of error messages and not even going close to the log-on screen.

Any other ideas?

hmmm... Sounds to me like Ryzom hasn't figured out that you've updated the Nvidia drivers. The easiest way to test this would be to re-install from the ryzom_setup file, then let it patch.

What operating system are you on?

Windows 7 x 64

I just uninstalled Ryzom in the attempt to re-install it from the ryzom_setup_644.file.

Now when double clicking on the set-up file I get the error message:

The version of this file is not compatible with the version of Windows you are operating on. Check your version 86(32-bit) or 64(64-bit) and contact the software publisher.

I couldn't find different versions of the setup file on the ryzom hp

OK, that is just weird because I am on Win 7-64 and have had no problems once I got my Directx issue fixed. The install is just a file that is extracted to generate the directories. There's actually no interaction with the operating system in terms of registry items and the like. As far as I know there is only one version, and it's 32 bit. but you can put it in a top level directory and it works, it doesn't _have_ to be in Program Files(86).

It sounds very much as if it is now time to file a ticket. Almost certainly, however, the CSR is going to suggest downloading a fresh copy of ryzom_setup_644.exe :(

I downloaded the setup file again, no change in name and size, yet it worked this time.

All very strange...

Thank you Bittty

Yay!

And yes, very peculiar.

I'm glad my words were of some assistance.

Bittty (still not a CSR :) )
