IDEAS FOR RYZOM

some of my calculations may be off but i suspect not...

Faction merchants currently sell, choice generic raw mats at these exchanges: (with 99 faction fame)

Q50 - 4 points
Q100 - 8 points
Q150 - 16 points
Q200 - 32 points
Q250 - 64 points

Suggested item:

Fine generic raw mats at:

Q50 - 2 points
Q100 - 4 points
Q150 - 8 points
Q200 - 16 points
Q250 - 32 points

As much as i would love to suggest exe raw mats... i know this will definitely result in a NO :)
However i think fine mats are not unreasonable requests for our dynastic, imperial, federal and... sorry i do not know the name for the forest merchant xD

========================
A note about obsolescence
========================

Faction pick is nice, sap crystals are great, cats are no longer the biggest deal on atys (yes there are some f2p, lets say they want level 150 cats, those go for 4 points)

if you have 100 fame in a civ and you net 7000 faction points per day via new horizons,
most people will have 30+ or 50+ and get 1750 or 2800 points respectively per day which is not bad

lower level cats are
Q50 - 1 point
Q100 - 2 points
Q150 - 4 points

this really means q200 and q250 cats have no use at all anymore and may as well be removed unless you will allow us to stack them with perma-cats.

I would like to see the faction merchants have better selling stock, as I will align shortly for more faction points and then have nothing really awesome to buy... let's face it, that +200 focus +80 hp pick for a master, while undoubtedly useful, is not one of those "ooo my life has been forever changed by this"

maybe some jewels, encyclopedia entries, something!

I agree the problem of lack of variety has been a long issue, and id like to see at least some special cosmetics, or cool looking gears (not even asking for stats) for sale on those merchants.

I know the old Camps will be back shortly, but at least for subbed accounts there should be a little more incentive to help the new horizons transporters or get those faction points, since cats are no longer an issue

If you ask me, I'd even prefer basic gen mats, if we can have them cheap. I'm very fond of crafting and quite easily bored with digging. It would be awesome if we could have a way to get grindmats for your crafts, without having to go dig.

Please remember I do not think you should get as many mats per time invested as if you went digging, but somewhere a tad below hunting, since hunting never gets you all the mats you need to craft, unless you do shields. Right now it completely isn't worth doing the faction thingey for grindmats, but it could be! Think of all the digging it would alleviate!

To add to this idea I also propose:

Since there are 8 colours in atys (red blue black white purple turquoise beige and green) and each of the for capitals has one color generic choice mat (zora purple tryker turquoise fyros beige and matis green)

If it is not difficult to implement addition of generic fine mats at suggested faction prices, why not also make each land have one more of the four missing colours (black white blue and red)

This way it becomes easier (and fun) to craft, and design various clothing. At the moment the suggested pricing is 32 per Q250 fine mat and even at 7000 faction points per day max from new horizons this is still barely 218 mats per day (non tradeable) so it is not abuseable as a way to get easy craft levels. Instead it would make more sense to get the cheap low Q ones for enjoyment.

As I said, if it is not quite difficult to add I feel it would give some fun to many.

I do not agree with giving choice+ colors to generic mats, since those are choice+ colors! Neither would I want exc gen mats to be available at faction merchants, unless it's at a very high price. Definately would want fine mats, since that means I could grind craft with less digging, which is always nice. Adding fine, and even basic gen mats would be a good idea in my mind. Keep the prices relatively high though, don't want digging to become obsolete.

If you're already talking about colors...

Why not use the (harvestable) mission mat dye and make it possible to dye WHITE armor with it?
The artisan NPCs doing the coloring could be paid with faction points and you could gain them as well by delivering the right colored dye to him as well. (The Artisan only provides the faction color as long as it's on stock - other colors would have to be harvested or bought at the faction merchant (that accepts all colors for delivery)

eg. Tryker:
  • NPC Merchant
    • you get faction points + dappers upon delivery (accepts all colors)
    • you can buy dye from him if it's available
  • NPC artisan
    • Dyes white armor
      • turquoise if available
      • other colors only if provided with the armor
    • you get faction points upon delivery (accepts turqoise only but at slightly other rate than merchant eg. more faction ponts and less dapper)

Sounds like a nice idea but I'm assuming it would take substantially more work to implement.... still, could toss up a new idea post on it maybe entitled other possible ways to gain faction points and colouring armor?

it's topics like this that remind me of how 'noob'-ish i still am....
i was all "yeah, better quality generic raw mats! awesome.. i can lvl more without digging" then i carried on reading and got completely lost. it - to me - turned into some kind of devilish verbal equation.

all variables aside, i like the idea of fine q generic mats.. and that's about it.
