IDEAS FOR RYZOM

We can currently select mobs and team mates with a key press (default: space, shift-space, function keys, etc.). Currently when preforming harvesting tasks it requires a mouse click to select the node, followed by a keypress for the extraction action; alternately a double-click can be used to select the node and preform the first extraction action found. These methods are cumbersome require either frequent adjustments to the action bar or excessive hand motions.

The addition of being able to assign a key to harvest node selection saves users engaged in harvesting operations from developing carpal tunal.

After a rather exhaustive bit of searching I found this can already be done by using the macro system. In the Actions category, Target Entity, and type in 'Raw Material Source [toon name]' or 'Raw Material Source'. I think it would be an interface improvement to have a more direct option in the System -> Keys window and a default key press.

So -- make the macro and assign it to a key.  You could also add a line to the macro and have it execute your action for digging.  The problem is that if you are digging with Knowledge turned on the targeting text changes.  If you want to change your macro you can. If there is a default key, you have to make a macro and override it anyway.

Methinks you miss the point, Bittymacod. I had to search the forums for a while to come up with the macro solution when the action to target a raw material source should be a basic item in the client. Sure I already made the macro; and hopefully my post provides the solution with more commonly used search terms. I don't want my macro to automatically run the extraction because I may want to help someone else with a care plan.

Having the target action built directly in the client allows for a more generic assignment of key to Action -> Target Raw Material. It would also make such a macro command more readily findable. Harvesting could be called 1/4 of the game and there is no reason its targeting needs should be neglected nor is there a reason that a player should have to search for a solution to such a major part of the game.

I don't see your point, you're more likely to get that from spam healing in a Boss hunt than from a few clicks while digging.

It's called not being spoon fed but having to learn by exploration/experimentation. Most of us Atysians enjoy the game for that very reason, it isn't easy.

Personally, I've had the target and dig macro assigned to my 'd' key for years and I worked out how to make it work myself. Ryzom has a very helpful community that will answer questions in Uni, but sometimes it pays to just try things yourself, much more rewarding IMHO.

You can't "complete" the mainland. If one thinks one has seen or done everything there, one is kidding oneself. But be prepared to "get out what you put in," because the mainland does not coddle or hold hands.

Other games - they give you a cookie whether you succeed or not, in fact you don't even have to participate. Ryzom takes your cookie, eats it in front of you, and slaps you 2 or 3 times for bringing a cookie in the first place.

Neela -- Amen

In fact it was while attempting to target my digging nodes that I discovered that I had three 'ttt's in my name. :)

I used to use a target-and-dig macro when grinding levels. Now, since I need to click on the "Take All" anyway, I click on that, click on the next source and hit 1 to start digging.  It's very nearly as fast.

Thank you for reminding me to fix the 'take all' and to do corpse selection and quartering by keyboard while I am at it.

I just click take all then hit 'd'. As I'm coming to the end of 1 node, I have my mouse hovering over the take all button and my finger over the d key. ;o)

I vote no - macros can be seen as the samething basically asin Key Bindings

I do the same for when I am in doing for Trainings - not just for Diggings

so I can use for "Raw Material Source [Muffin]" for digging
also can use for "Parched Stinga" when training
for cping, can use for "Homin"

you can have much more than just only for one macros and but it doesn't take very long for editing them when you need them changed it

...I am talking about the "Target an entity ..." (Category: Actions, Action: Target an entity)

the way that I can see ithem is that you can easily play the game without them using ofor the macros anyway
