make a special TP for them....can cost ~1m?

...or maybe just simply say that for each they had to have been to there first, so if it dies and you need for to purchase a new one then you must retrek it all over again

just make them non-"Move To" TPs so that they can must stay with that mount/packer

#2 [en]

Mounts and packers are just dumb beasts.  The teleportation systems of the Karavan and Kami are pacts, or contracts, between the Higher Powers and individual sentient homins to invoke a power that moves the individual from one place to another.  While I do not know the internal workings of the Zunakeen or of the Rainbow Gates, it would appear that they operate on similar principles.  The end result is that only intelligent beings can be teleported.

-----------
(OOC/HRP) Allowing the teleportation of packers and mounts would totally unbalance both the economy, harvesting, leveling, and PvP.  Really, really, really not a good idea.

It was said during an early event that high powers use the "seed of life" hidden in the forehead of homins to resurrect or teleport them. As far as I know, beasts don't have such seed of life, only homins do.

so what your saying is that hem "beasts" as you calling them are coming from the Homins with that seed thingie stuck inside ther heads? ...because it giving life and

No, what I meant is :
- homins have some kind of magical seed, called "seed of life" hidden in their forehead.
- Higher powers (kami and karavan) use the magic properties of that seed to resurrect or teleport homins.
- Animals (beasts, pets or whatever) don't have seed of life, so they can't be resurrected nor be teleported by kami/kara.

By the way if any homin got his seed of life destroyed, he's gone for good and can't be resurrected. That's the way they explained permadeath in Ryzom.

what's the average lifespan/logevity for the seeds?...I maybe join the Seed Addicts soon

#8 [en]

We have no idea what the average lifetime of the Seed in a homin is.  I know only that I came to Silan in 2546 JY and it is now the very end of JY 2570.  There are many who are still active and spry who are significantly older than I, born even before the Emergence of homins from the roots in 2525 after the First Great Swarming.

On the other hand, some homins have weaker Seeds.  Some of the older leaders of the nations have expired of old age.

We do know that certain subtle Goo-based poisons (Dexton) and loud unsubtle Goo-based weapons (Stil Wyler) can drastically shorten homin life by affecting the Seed.  There is much that we do not  know, however, and unless we want to return to the bad days of Matis experimentation on all life forms, we may never know.

Although I agree on the "dumb beasts" definition, I'm torn on this particular trait of mounts and packers: they don't seem to be eaten by aggro. While they have few natural predators of their own (Raguses, I think), it seems suspicious that carnivores will always attack a homin, but never his companion; in fact, the only way a domesticated mek will die seems to be area of effect damage .. or gas. You could die in an area full of hungry carnivores, but they will pass over your tasty companion like it stinks or something.

As such, if they're even a tiny bit more special than other wildlife, I'd propose a few basic bonding mechanisms. For instance, the ability of the player to use a number of actions while mounted, such as auras and powers (so speed-up, invul, MPA, self-heal, etc). If an aura can selectively affect homins grouped in a team, I'm quite sure it should also affect a mektoub you're mounted on and friends with.

I'm curious to see what you think of this.

I was attacked by a Varinx and when I ran past a Mektoub it stopped attacking me and killed the Mektoub instead while I still got away from it safe and slightly eaten :P

Yeah the characteristic described by Mjølnir is single to mounts and packers and not counting for wild living Mektoubs...
It was modified shortly after introducing the mounts/pets because too many people complained that their meks would die all the time.
