Given the fact we now all share the same shard, I thought it might be useful to have some common Ryzom related phrases listed somewhere so that we all know what we're being asked.

For example, if someone asks in region for a rez in french, I have no idea what they are saying so I don't bother. If I knew a particular phrase meant "Rez please" I'd try to help.

So can the multi-lingual among you give us a list? :o)

You can't "complete" the mainland. If one thinks one has seen or done everything there, one is kidding oneself. But be prepared to "get out what you put in," because the mainland does not coddle or hold hands.

Other games - they give you a cookie whether you succeed or not, in fact you don't even have to participate. Ryzom takes your cookie, eats it in front of you, and slaps you 2 or 3 times for bringing a cookie in the first place.

That is quite useful for refering to in-game items and such, but I'm talking more about stuff like knowing when someone needs help. ATM if I see french or german in region, I just ignore it and, for all I know, that person might need help and I might be the only other person in the region, or the nearest. I'd at least like to know when I can rez someone cos I always try to respond to rez requests.

Maybe you can set up a list of phrases you want translated. Players speaking different language can then quote it and add translation. I think the list should be short anyway so people can remember them.

like....
You
en
rez please, pls rez
thanks, thx, thank you
you're welcome, yw
Me
en - de
rez please, pls rez - [kann mich jemand] aufstellen bitte, bitte aufheben
thanks, thx, thank you - danke [schön]
you're welcome, yw - bitte, gern geschehen
Someone else
en - de -fr
rez please, pls rez - [kann mich jemand] aufstellen bitte, bitte aufheben - ...
thanks, thx, thank you - danke [schön] - ...
you're welcome, yw - bitte, gern geschehen - ...

You can parse that into a spreadsheet using Excel.

Some of the following phrases have very poor grammar and I'm not sure about any of them. Decided to post them in the hope that corrections might be made.

DE = Deutsch
EN = English
F = Fyrk (I don't have any Fyrk phrases, though, because I couldn't find a complete English translation of the French info about it.)
FR = français
M/f = Mateis for a feminine speaker (?)
M/m = Mateis for a masculine speaker (?)
T = Tryker (If the language has a name beyond that, I couldn't find it.)
TZ = Taki Zoraï

A response to a rez request:
EN: I'm on the way.
DE: Ich bin auf dem Weg.
F:
FR: Je suis sur le chemin.
M/f: Ne meneis ten le. ("I will travel for/toward you.")
M/m: Ne meneis ten le. ("I will travel for/toward you.")
T: Y gan tor sul. ("I travel for/toward you.")
TZ: Mata zinkéan. ("I'll be there soon.")

Apologetically telling someone you don't speak the language:
EN: Sorry, I don't speak English.
DE: Tut mir leid, ich kann nicht Deutsch sprechen.
F:
FR: Désolé, je ne parle pas français.
M/f: Ne nec filae di nae vanimae Mateis. ("I [am] not proud of my ugly Mateis.")
M/m: Ne nec fila di na vanima Mateis. ("I [am] not proud of my ugly Mateis.")
T: Senn, y cail ad tyller. ("Sorry, I fail to speak.")
TZ: Fuu'guzu no, nu'o Taki Zoraï né'lao. ("My apologies, my Taki Zoraï [is] bad.")
