IDEAS FOR RYZOM

I am bringing up this topic here for 2 reasons: 1 (opportunistic) is that it can be read by all players of Atys no matter what's their home language. 2 The desired solution can possibly be implemented over a web app. Thus it is not completely off topic here.

Several players have uttered the desire to be able to choose whether they want double xp as a subscriber or not. There has always been a number of seasoned atysians who chose not to boost xp. Forcing cats on them is felt compulsive and patronizing by them.

Personally I always enjoyed and chose cats, did a lot as guildless independant player to provide me with cats, and was successful. Though I somewhat miss that strain, especially crystal artificing, the new scheme makes me free for other nonsense, thus I like it.

But I am and have always been pro choice (not only here). Thus I plead for a possibility to switch off double xp. Thanks for listening.

I like cats as well (certainly to rebuild as reckless char)
but there's been a time when I too refuxed to use them so I understand the people who wish to disable it.

I agree. I've been leveling Meagon for a number of years. Even before there were even cats on atys. I love cats to death now that the exsist. I don't think I could stand leveling my crafting without them anymore. But I do wish to be able to remove these permacats. I've got multiple masters already and I'm running low on skills to level with my friends effectively. Most of the skills I have left are rather high up or don't do much to benefit a team (staff, 1h mace, H2H). I've avoided using cats on some of my skills for a few years and wish to continue doing so. I want to stay useful to my friends for as long as possible.

Never argue with an idiot; they will just drag you down to their level, and beat you with experience.

Meagon brings up a great motivation which I can get behind.

Courte traducition en francais: Il s'agit de pouvoir choisir si on veut avoit le double xp comme joueuse/jouer abo ou non. Moi j'approuve de creer une possibilite de demissioner le double xp.

Perhaps subscribers could be given a special no weight, no bulk item that is an activate/deactivate toggle for the permacat buff. Make the permacats default to off, and then anyone that wants them just activates upon login.

For the same reason as Meagon, I fully support making the double-xp optional. I'd even be satisfied with it default to on, but with a possible switch in the config file. I like being able to switch it in game, but that might be less easy.

Here is a thought based on Meagons comments, (sorry if its not totally on thread) but what if they enabled some way for our skills to go backwards, or decrease? Say if you didnt use a skill, like mace for instance,in maybe a month, then it would start to deteriorate slowly and you would have to build it back up again? Kind of like excercise, if you dont use it, you lose it? Maybe some players would like that? It certainly would encourage players to keep playing regularly.

Hmm recently been doing some training and have to say the 6k xp you get now is a bit to fast for me on some skills. I would love to turn it of. Also double xp means in the end you only get half the mats you got when only grinding at 3k xp.

My first reaction when I logged in for the first time was "hmmm how do I turn the cats off?"

Never liked cats, haven't used them for a long, long time. Don't want this option either thanks. So please give us a choice.

You can't "complete" the mainland. If one thinks one has seen or done everything there, one is kidding oneself. But be prepared to "get out what you put in," because the mainland does not coddle or hold hands.

Other games - they give you a cookie whether you succeed or not, in fact you don't even have to participate. Ryzom takes your cookie, eats it in front of you, and slaps you 2 or 3 times for bringing a cookie in the first place.

One of the best ideas I have heard in along time!!

I think the regression idea may get messy when it comes to plans and stanzas. I don't know if the game keeps track of when these are bought to make them candidates for removal. Otherwise, seems fair enough.

#14 [en]

I wouldn't expect plans or stanzas to decay, and even skills shouldn't decay below, say 75% to 80%.  If you look at the real world you don't comepletely forget how to do something, but you do lose the high end edge.  So if a skill requires a certain level of practice that you no longer have you get a substantially increased chance of failure.  In game this does not mean you have lost the stanza but that you can no longer use it.
