I made my feelings known, shortly after the announcement of the transition. My feelings have not changed and I still dread the sadness of my loss of skills and the ability to help the less able new homins, However, I remain positive and my small but loyal band of guildies has voiced its commitment to stay together and create a new guild for all those homins who are interested in helping more than harming other homins.

This not a retraction of my objections but simply a way forward in the face of adversity. I now know, with conviction, that there will always be a place for the peaceful homins of Atys and we, as Phaedrea's Tears, intend to perpetuate it.

I'm new here. But I suspect I speak for the majority of players when I say, that if you do find a way to combine all without deleting current characters and guilds, you should also do a server roll-back to the date of the initial announcement. Many players gave up mass items, or guilds disbanded, during this time due to the announcement.

Absolutely.

Whatever will happen with the server merge, ragequitting is never the thing to do. Ryzom has gone through enough hard times to know that.

Suggesting another bankruptcy would be better than a server merge&wipe is just short-sighted. Who is to say Ryzom might survive going into receivership again? If that happened, and if indeed Ryzom somehow managed to survive (again), nobody could guarantee there would be no wipe then.

While I'd loathe losing my skill levels, or worse, my toons, I still prefer an Atys I can come back to, even as a new character, over no Atys at all.

oh god, i really hope u reconsider, i haven't played for atleast a year orso, but i always check this site from time to time and o hope u dont send us all off like this tbh.
why u ask?
because in the back of my head i always know i have a place with friends and a great community to return to.
that place is here, i dont mind the wipe, but i do mind the fact that alot of ppl will quit.

Actually, i think what they have in mind is trying to keep character's levels only.
The merge of the 3 servers being unavoidable, there is the story related to that ... i don't know if you have an english translation to read, but we had explanations from Tamarea in Aniro, that you can read and try to translate here

This cataclysmic event seems to me the best way to build this new community of players, and save the most "realistic" story, and has to involve the loss of items.
Guilds can be made again, items can be found and crafted again fast.
Levels, it's obviously an another story, especially for non-fighting skills.

I think the reason for a simple wipe is that it is fast and easy to do, while the new server has to be fast playable
The staff is working on keeping levels of char.
That will require time, and work.
Keeping more, is taking more time, and more work. If the brutal wipe was intialy announced, there can't be so much time available.

Please Ryzom team, do not give into the sniveling masses. Please unleash a plague upon Atys that will wipe out all Homins. A plague the will make goo look like a common cold. None are worthy of continued existence, except perhaps Binarabi. Make them all die horrible and agonizing deaths!

We Free Souls on Leanon feel the same way (about the sadness, but also about the look forward and the will to continue our peaceful way and our help for hominkind).

Wipe out everything except the skill levels, we can rebuy the actual stanzas. Items, materials, etc. can all be rebuilt with effort which is not too huge. Rebuilding skill levels is what is too huge and is what's driving players away from the idea.

From an RP standpoint, a complete wipe and starting with a new character (not Gorran) is actually an exciting idea BUT most are not RP insane like I am.

Yes, Glaz, I did have a vision of that..... it frightened me. I saw myself standing there in my refugee outfit with no weapon, no amps, no armor and (ugh) no TPs. But I had hope in my heart, which is something I didn't have before.
