No idea if we will ever do all these things or not but for some reason wanted to update them a bit today. With stuff from past experiences playing some of these events with friends and guild mates. And added a bunch of new ideas.

could do with compiling a list of interested players to give some some sort of idea as to how many people will or would like to join in :)

that would be one thing i guess.

Ppl would have to sign up even if they can't do every event i'm thinking something like 10points for winning, 7for seccond place, 5for 3th, 2points for participating or something but i'm not a mathematisian.
So if you would win some events and don't show up for others (because of work/real life/...) you still make a chance to win the overal event.

Then again ppl coming to each event themself do show themself a true atyslympier aswell and deserve something i think :s

I wouldn't mind organizing it i tried to write each event as a pure player thing so no event team needs to get involved (except prizes I guess since Atys runs on titles these days).
But would need some ppl that use teamspeak and such just to help be judges and so on since I've done some events in past and let me tell you, you always end up with alot more work then you imagined if you then have to start communicating with the ppl helping organizing trough tells or channels it starts to go slow and so on

well I'm happy to help in the organisation process, craft medals and whatnot.
maybe if we get as prepared as possible beforehand we can set a date(s) without having to panic organise :-P
the point system seems good enough and of course this is all for fun but title prizes for individual events would be great.. *hint hint event team*

guess we can try again with cookies to get it started since not all events need to be done think i got over 30 things posted and most can be done solo and in teams probably

i see major cookies meetings in the future, we're already planning at least 2 events, one of which will become an annual event, as it was done last year and was well liked, so we're doing it again this year.

we still have some details to hammer out, and once that part is done, we'll be posting on the forums again with the details and dates of events.

I heard of rumor that there was going to be a Mektroub killing competition, is there any truth to this?

Gold medal for most explosions on one dig! maybe most dug mats on one prospect, maybe most mats dug on one dig, or one prospect. etc. most nodes dug up to 250on one prospect, idk, something like that. There is many who like to dig :P

the digging one could be broken down into each of the 5 regions also, so these events would be very in depth, that would require more from both atylympians and judges, referee's, announcer's, and various support players.

still like the idea, and this would be a long running even then, lasting perhaps more then a week or two depending on how many enter. (remember these events would only be an hour or two a day)

I myself would love digging contests (kill the mek was the only one I could come up with).

If it's doable to do digging or crafting events I'm all up for it. I'm sure you know my legendary digging skills Naema and that I don't even know what the front and back of a pick looks like so for myself to come up with a digging/crafting contests is next to impossible.

But I'm sure if you can come up with an digging/crafting idea that doesn't has to split up in regions and such or crafting that can be done by everyone not just a jewel crafter or a HA crafter or ... (since that would be next to impossible aswell) then I'm all up for it.

I do rember an event years ago I think we where in OO and in small teams (might just been guild teams I forgot) and the event char all of a sudden gave us a list of boobie gear to craft like 'blabla dagger q20, blablabla HA helmet q46, ...' and it actually took quite some time for ppl to gather the mats and craft them for the npc (forgot what first team got probably just recognition). Some went to shops others started digging at the spot and so on.  Maybe this could be an idea I don't know how fair it could done tough.

We do have serveral pvp events that will be impossible to win if you aren't like master 1h swords and such so maybe do these digging events just in prime roots (after all afterall the atyslympier is supossed to be the best of the best in his field).

How difficult is it to get most nodes dug? like is there a constant or is it a bit random since we can't sit looking at 5diggers all evening constantly digging same ammount of nodes. Same for explosions on one dig.

And would there be a way to find out if there is cheating? I guess you see the number above the head (I know nothing about digging :s )

it would require a judge for each digger in question, because they would have to be watched to ensure a proper count (yes the numbers above the head)

i don't know if there's a 100% fail proof way to have digging events, but i believe that the risk of error on the judges part of the risk of cheating could be kept very low.

possible format:
all judges are given a list of mat's to have dug, and a number for each mat, and the judge follow the digger from site to site, only telling the digger the next mat to dig after X number is dug of the previous mat, each time the player would have to show the judge in a exchange window the proper number of dug mat's at the proper Q, at which time the judge would tell them the next mat they need to dig, everything could be used, number of Qxx of x grade (Q250, fine, zun amber, 30 mat's) (Q230, choice, silvo seed, 50 mat's) things like that.

another thought, an over all list of all players that partake in each event should be listed, just as a claim to fame for at least trying and showing up, if this happened every year it would be bragging rites for the all time looser to at least say, "look i've been doing this since the first time, and while i've never won, i'm always here, look at the yearly lists"

Well yes and no on the list of names. Getting ppl to pre register would make it alot easier for organizing thats true a heck of alot easier.
But problems with pre registering is some ppl just don't read forums annoucements and stuff and find out just at the start something is happening. Or find out during event 2 for instance. Some ppl might just wanna show up for the pvp while others just for the swimming for instance.
So while it's alot harder for 1 person since he needs to check all names for each event turning up and to add new names (and probably explain everything over and over again => will need a basic 3 language explain macro for around that explains atyslympics basics not the event since each event will be different).
I was thinking of using a simple google docs spreadsheet when a new player wants to take part in event he gets added to list gets 0 points for all previous events and then he's inscribed. Since we where thinking about points for first 3 in the event and atleast some points to show up each time.
With that list I'm sure we can make an easy way to post names + points each week on forums and change it after each event.
