IDEAS FOR RYZOM

Come to think of it, the Zoraï even sacrificed slaves to combat the Goo in the past. Tryker no likey.

Never liked even numbers 4, 6, 8, etc., because no matter how high the even number is, there is always a 2-camps split.

Well yeah, the only number that definitely prevents a 2-camps split is 3. Because with 5 (or higher uneven) it still easily turns into alliance of 2 strong sides vs alliance of 3 weak sides.

That's the trigger, but there are deeper underlying causes. They don't get along because the Tryker and Zoraï ways of looking at life are nearly opposite. The Zoraï care more about their floaty philosophies and 'preserving balance' than about individual homin's lifes and happiness, like how they sacrifice their own to combat the Goo. Meanwhile the Tryker are hedonistic, frivolous, and superficial, they take lightly and even mock the worship of the Kami and the Zoraï philosophy and their shallow attitude erodes deep thought.

Really, the Tryker and the Zoraï are more opposite than the Fyros and the Matis, the only reason the latter conflict is hotter is because the Fyros and the Matis are both more militarised races than the Tryker and Zoraï.

Hey, I resemble that remark (except we are also industrious)!

I see several problems with this particular suggestion for a new playable race. First, it doesn't match with canon lore at all, especially with respect to our "magic", which isn't magic in any of the usual senses found on Earth.

Second, the poles of Atys probably get the *least* sun of any location on Atys. The "sun" is fixed off to the east of the New Lands. Since we came from somewhere else on Atys and there was light there, (and since we can't see any other suns) I suspect that there are actually three suns (light/heat) sources, equidistant around the equator of Atys (which they define).

Finally, the world has at its core the possibility of attaining mastery of any skill you care to learn. Having a race with special abilities ruins that.

Bittty (the light-hearted, industrious, Tryker)

The dark matis would have had an other look than the normal ones. Immaculate vision - part 1 (by David Cohen Corval)
Read the complete text as it's interesting to see the old plans! You can see the Artwork in the bottom ;-)

And as I mentioned above: there are always the Trytonists which could respond to your Atheists

I have read the newsletter and marvelled the beautiful images and came to the conclusion that David is even more ambitious than I am, hahaha! :P

I really like the idea of more planets and hope this will be realised one day (maybe even make the 2D square map just a section on a 3D globe map ;) ). I also read that David is into Asimov and Ghost in a Shell, which are all about cybernetic lifeforms! :) There is still hope as of yet for the Mechro race! :D

Seriously though; Ryzom needs some robotics... ;)

You know, Asimov was not only known for his Robot series but for other Fiction and even Nonfiction as well.

And the robots in GITS are supposed to look just like normal humans - so maybe we've got robots already just don't know it.
Maybe the Matis are robots and we just don't realize it, that would explain why they're always so stiff ;-) *hides from Marelli*

But yeah, he was very ambitious but sadly he left the game as soon as it got worse with the monetary situation of Nevrax (the first company to own and original creator of Ryzom)
And I tried to find his other letters (there are 2) in the archive as well but wasn't able to :(

...got bored waiting for the daylight to come, so my brain started boiling and bubbling again with new ideas for the Mechro race. :P

I have been looking through the images from your link and noticed there that the current races have only male legends/leaders and not one woman. Wouldn't it be cool if the Mechro race had a female leader, matriarch or a queenbee so to speak?

As a tribute to the excellent manga movies like GITS and Akira, the Mechro cyborg-race could carry Japanese-like names, something like Miyamoto, Kurosawa, Masayuki, etc. and wear samurai-type of helmets as one of their their solarpanel-hairstyles...

Anyway, reviving this thread to hopefully get some more feedback from you guys to learn more about Ryzom. I understood btw that Atys doesn't have any metals, if I am correct? So which elements of the periodic table would be present there then, since calcium ions (bones, shells, etc.) are obviously there?

i don't like the idea about Mechros.... but....

On Atys there are natural materials (parts of flora and fauna) only, refined and raw. But as we learned how to make blades from shells and claws, mechanical components could be made the same way (after all, we can make guns too).

For the AI and actuators inside a mechro: this could be karavan technology, binding mechros as close to karavan as zorai are bound to kami. A mecho could deteriorate (in RP) if he decides to renounce karavan religion because he lacks maintenance and replacement components.

Shame you don't like it... another manga movie about cyborgs would be Battle Angel Alita, a movie James Cameron is thinking of remaking just like Avatar.

I am not to worried about the metal parts; graphene (carbon atom sheets) can replace metal easily, since graphene has even better properties than metals.

The Mechro technology is created to make the summoning of dead animals possible, so it would be weird if there wouldn't be any nano-selfrepair-bots there to fix the tech, but then again... yeah... we could make them addicted to nano-bots; hence technology junkies! :D Awesome...

I am curious what is required for making a totally new Ryzom2 game?
It is time for the next generation game-sequal, where players can jump and dive with their characters (and maybe dodge and block/cover as well) as much as they like to. Make a map that's 3D in every sense of the world, where you can travel unlimited east or west and going underwater or maybe even into space, so you will have this feeling you are on a planet, instead of a square flat discworld.
So who would I have to talk to set these wheels into motion?

Aye, check again for the trykers.

And well, even if it isn't a race, karavans and trytonists both have Jena very high up on their leaderboards. And she looks quite femaleish, especially in the face and chest regions.

"It's shite being tryker! We're the lowest of the low. The scum of Atys! The most wretched, miserable, servile, pathetic trash that was ever shat into civilization. Some people hate the Matis. I don't. They're just wankers. We, on the other hand, are COLONIZED by wankers. Can't even find a decent culture to be colonized BY. We're ruled by effete arseholes. It's a shite state of affairs to be in, Marceline, and ALL the fresh air in the world won't make any ****** difference"

Money can be obtained if you put the Ryzom2 project on:

Couldn't stop thinking about how to make the planet map happen:
If you take a huge icosahedron (20sided die), take the triangular face, divide this triangle into 4 smaller equally sized triangles, lift the center smaller triangle a bit up, and you have an 80 sided triangular surface that's closer to a sphere. You can then divide the smaller triangle into 4 even smaller triangles, lift the center triangle a bit to match the sphere and you have 320-sided triangular surface. Do the division again (1280) and again (5120) and again (20480) etc. you should eventually get a surface, where you move from one triangular face to another triangular face, where the angular shift of your toon isn't noticable! :D
Then, just as in Minecraft, let players edit this humongous map triangle by triangle!

Entering the final hours of my digital life I wanted to say farewell as Soularis and what better place to do than in my most active thread, shamelessly bumping it as an extra bonus. As I typ this message, icosahedrons are orbiting eachother in the back of my mind, representing the sun, the Saturn-like planet and its moons, one of them being Atys, hoping one day someone will pick these wild ideas up,

In my previous post I imagined that each triangular face had its gravity straight down, but now I have come to the realisation that it is far more realistic to have the gravity point in a slight angle towards the center of the icosahedron. Also having fellow rounded icosahedral moons orbiting the rounded icosahedral planet in turn orbiting the rounded icosahedral shiny sun, would give a much more amazing realistic sight of the night sky than just a floating PNG-image;P.

Alas, a homin can only be truly happy when he is dead and then another unhappy one rises and continues the whining. Soularis bids thee farewell!
