Just to get the questions out there, quick and simple;

1) I decided to read through the Manual today, after getting to lvl 30-40 in all of my skills. One of the things that confused me was the death/respawn system that is described in the manual. I am curious if the death/respawn system works differently for Silan/ML because I am still in Silan, and have never experienced a 'decrease in stats for a short period' or been 'unconcious' and able to be revived by a simple healing spell... Maybe I'm just unaware of it if this is the case, but it seems completely different for me right now, lol - Some clarification would be greatly appreciated.

2) I've read about The Ring system, and what it involves... I've got to say that it sounds like the most amazing feature that I've ever heard of in an MMORPG... and I've played my fair share of MMO's, lol. My question is simply if there is any idea when it may become usable again. I'm seriously on the edge of my seat waiting to use/see this feature in use.

3) Just for my own knowledge, is there any way to reset one's skill points? I am the type of person that takes my time, and places a lot of thought into where I spend points... so I'm just wondering if it is possible to reset them later down the line... if so, then I can stop being so careful, and maybe a little more careless with what I put my points into, :P

Aside from those questions, I think I'm good - I just really do have to say how much I LOVE this game... coming from the more main stream MMO's and a few of the indie/f2p ones, I have to admit that Ryzom takes the cake in all aspects. Its got original gameplay, original store/world/environment, original battle/item/equipment/forage/craft/spell/skill systems that are so creative, complex and notably amazing to use that it has been completely mind-blowing that it's taken me this long to find such a wonderful game.

All of this, and it seriously has an amazing community to boot.

Easy way for my to compare Ryzom to main-stream MMO's is that it is as if someone made the PERFECT merger of EverQuest (for the type of game), EVE (for the complexity of gathering/crafting items), Phantasy Star Online (for the semi-sci-fi feel), and added a dash of Lineage (for the freedom of faction/fame/choice).

Ok... I've said my piece... it had to be said somewhere, lol.

Hi, and welcome to Atys.

Actually, you have experienced the temporary reduction in stats but the stats that are reduced are the derived stats of Hp, sap, stamina and focus, not the base ones of Str, cons, etc. If you were lying on the ground having been chewed by raguses, you could have been resurrected by a passing homin with a good enough healing spell. Unconscious... not so much. The "dead" are a pretty talkative lot around here.

The Ring... we don't know when it will be back. When it was live it was largely under-used except by a few talented people who made some really nice things with it. The limitation, of course, is that it doesn't give xp or items that can be brought back.

There is no way to reset skill points, but there is also no need to. It is effectively impossible to nerf your toon. There are always more skill points that can be earned, and when you get to high level you will end up with truly amazing amounts of unused SP. The usual recommendation is that you build your base stats and basic actions as high priority and add frills as you get to higher levels. But if you accidentally buy "bleeding" for instance (only really useful at high levels and in teams), it doesn't matter that much. Just dig/hunt/craft or cast for a few more levels and get what you wanted. The hardest skills to advance are crafting and digging, but even there less than optimal choices will only slow you down a bit, not cripple you.

-- I hope you enjoy a long stay with us.

P.S., if you are lvl 30-40 in all skills you should definitely leave Silan and come to the mainland!

Avalice
I am the type of person that takes my time, and places a lot of thought into where I spend points.

if train suboptimal just add few more levels and train again. some reroll character again and again looking for perfect. waste of time to reroll. just keep going. <3

I gotcha - Yeah, I was planning on leaving for the ML soon, I just wanna finish my last mission before I do, xP

I really hope the Ring comes back online soon - not keeping items/stats gained from it may be a bit of a downside, but it just seems like it would be fun regardless.

I'll keep that in mind about training; I have been focusing on stats over abilities, so I'm glad that I've got that part right so far too.

Thank you for the info.
