IDEAS FOR RYZOM

Lapsa, maurauders are anti-civ, not anti-faction (that is, they could have 100 Kara/Kami fame and still be maurauders). Though maybe you mean anti-theists. In which case they really couldn't as homins don't have the ability to teleport and I (and others I've heard) can't see them ever (legitimately, regarding lore and current direction) getting it. But perhaps I misunderstand what you're saying completely.

I wonder how well a new race would work. I would like the possibility of new armor patterns. Where would the new race come from? Were they in this part of the land before the currently-known four homin races showed up? In which case, how did they get to Silan? Or will a new starting area need to be created for them? If they come from the same (immediate) place the rest of hominity is hiding, why didn't we know about them until now?

As you can tell, I like to ask questions.

Well, if Ryzom follows the model of other MMOs in this regard, the new race will simply be retconned into the lore to have existed all along :P

Hmm, it would've been cool if they could've made the lakelands to freeze over in the winter, and suddenly all the water basically becomes temporary land... now *that*'s a seasonal variation.

I thought originally it would be interesting if the Arctic region had no 'native race', only bandits + other tribes.

It's bad luck to be superstitious . . .

It could be on another planet that is only just discovered. I remember having plenty of talks about other plants in our solar system.

Never argue with an idiot; they will just drag you down to their level, and beat you with experience.

I remember hearing plenty of times that homins won't be going to another planet, too.

We haven't even been able to climb the highest roots on our planet, how would you propose we go to another planet then? (I guess the kara can but I have yet to see my first flying Kami :p)
Don't forget all we have explorerd until now on Atys are still the 'New Lands' there are still the 'Old Lands' and maybe alot more.
I've always tought these 'New Lands' are just one small island on the whole planet, I look at it like Australia or maybe even smaller.

there are still the 'Old Lands' and maybe alot more.

We have eplored a little bit of the old lands in Episode2 (aelius dunes, olkern lake and almati wood) and the last one is still accessible ;-)

And we are teleported by either Kami or Karavan to the Almati Wood so why shouldn't they be able to teleport us to an other planet? ;-)

I've read about those but wasn't here to experience them, but there are so many lands I hope to still explore one day like Trykeroth (old lands lakes => who knows they could fit the bill for a frozen cold post apocalyptic scene), Fyre (old lands desert), plains of corilos (should also be a burned down plain perfect to freeze over?), and there are more zoran, matia. There might be totally forgoten lands aswell that could fit the bill of a frozen land.

Those lands should be ruins now or are believed to be ruins, who knows what has happend all this time there now, might have been rebuild by the homins left behind or something else.

But another planet I don't see happening

I figure the "other planets" were the plans for "if Ryzom becomes the next WoW". Every starting MMO tries to get excitement up by revealing their plans for "if they become the next WoW".

Except Ryzom was released before WoW so it'd be "if they'd become the first WoW", except then the term would be "the next Ryzom" anyways. But the principle is the same :P

Still looking to play the first Ryzom. The game promised that we only got a portion.

They could freeze the lakelands and save me all that swimming..
Ah the joy of figure-skating emotes.

Revisiting this and the idea of frozen lakes gave me another idea.

Obviously you couldn't swim in a frozen lake but there would be other effects:

- the frozen lake is slippery so you can't run but only walk on them

- the frozen lakes could serve as refuges from agro because they would 'go bambi' trying to walk on the ice (would love to see this with kinchers)

- and you can't light a campfire on the ice so you couldn't stay there long

An arctic region would be awesome, but I guess this would be way farther on the horizon than another "normal" region.
