IDEAS FOR RYZOM

Forgive me if this has been mentioned. It seems like an obvious suggestion to me, but I couldn't find anything regarding the mouse or the keyboard. I searched for "keyboard", "map", and "mouse" and didn't find anything relevant.

When mapping keyboard keys to actions ingame, like movement for example, I am only able to map one keyboard key to each action (forward, backward, turn left, turn right, etc.). Just about every other game that I've played, MMOs anyway, allows you to map two keys to each action. Sometimes I like to move with the arrow keys and sometimes I like to use WASD. Most of the time I prefer to use the keypad on the right of the keyboard for the skills or "actions" in Ryzom, but occassionally will hit one of the numbers across the top of the keyboard, whichever is more convenient during a heated encounter. With Ryzom, I'm locked into WASD for movement and the keypad for actions (my choice). I can't use both methods. I would like to be able to map at least two keys to each function.

Oh, one other oddity. By default, SCREENSHOT TGA is mapped to SNAPSHOT on my system. What the heck is SNAPSHOT? PRINT SCREEN doesn't seem to do anything, and I am unable to map the PRINT SCREEN key, which I'd like to do.

I'm not sure about movement keys but almost every actoin can be controlled by makeing a macro. For instance 'light' = L-key but you can make a macro ctrl+y for instance that turns the light on aswell.

FYI: SNAPSHOT is the internal name of the Print Screen button. In a previous patch, Alt+F4 was stopped from immediately closing the game, but had the unfortunate side-effect of rendering the Print Screen button inoperable in Ryzom. This will hopefully be fixed in an upcoming patch.

The macro system can help you define any number of keypresses for the same action, if that action is supported by the macro system.
