I had this same problem and a solution was give to me so here it is:

1. This problem happens when you log in certain areas. The one I was trapped in was near the big bamboo tree in Lost Valley in Void.
2. To solve the problem you need to carry out the following:
a. Log on with another toon. If you don't have one make one and log on with it.
b, Go to system - Game Configuration - Graphics - Landscape
c. Turn OFF microvegetation.
d. You can now log the stuck character on.
e. Move to a city and then you can turn on microvegetation.
3. In order to prevent this lowering the microvegetation to 80% or so seems to help.

** Might want to also temporarily turn off sound when you log in with the alt to carry out the solution.

Hi Hoplite,

There are currently some known issues with the Mac client, that occurs for some but not all players. Both have workarounds. As you cannot login, you will need to modify your client.cfg file manually. This is a text file in the same directory as the Ryzom executable. (Located in ~/Library/Application Support/Ryzom)

Please open client.cfg in a text editor. I would like you to try to turn off sound first, and then if that does not solve the issue, we'll try turning off micro vegetation.

First, make sure Ryzom is closed completely. Then add the following line to your client.cfg file:
SoundOn = 0;
(There must be a semicolon on the end, if there already is a line starting with SoundOn,  please change that line.)

Then save the file and try to log into Ryzom. If it is fixed, great! If not, try the following:

Add the following line to your client.cfg:
MicroVeget = 0;
(There must be a semicolon on the end, if there already is a line starting with MicroVeget,  please change that line.)

Then save the file and try to log into Ryzom. Please let me know here if this solves the issue or not! A copy of your client.log file can help us tremendously in determining the problem.

Thanks Sywindt.
Much easier than the alt toon route. I have replicated the problem in a couple of different areas and has so far always been the microvegetation. Lowering it to 80% or less also seems to clear up the problem in some of the sites.

I figured that if he just started playing he'd be on Silan next to Chiang the Strong. Any alt he would make would log in to the same spot and have the same problem...

This is interesting; so apparently it is only certain kinds of microveg that cause the problem.

Thanks for the help but for some reason I get an error message which says "This document can not be saved"
and so I can not edit the script

Sorry I got it to save and after making the changes launched Ryzom and tried to zone into the world. The same problem still persisted.

I am having the same issue, and it appears that everyone else with a brand new MacBook Pro 13" with the i5 processor is as well. According to the Mac App Store many people with that model can't get past the loading screen. It's pretty disappointing.

Can those that are having the problem please do the following:

1. Delete this file: ~/Library/Application\ Support/Ryzom/client.log
2. Start up Ryzom and go as far as you can.
3. Quit Ryzom.
4. There should now be a new client.log; please email that file to support-ee@ryzom.com with "Mac client hang issue" in the subject.

Using your log we can check into what the problem is. Thanks!

it's still the micro vegetation bug. edit the config file -> /Library/Application Support/Ryzom/client.cfg
mictoVeget = 1 by default. set it to 0, save and start game. it should work.
devs are working on that ;)

If your computer becomes totally unresponsive, it could be due to the issue of 2011 MacBooks freezing under heavy load.

Please see if this may be the cause of your issue. If not, please contact us with your clean client.log (process shown above) at support-ee@ryzom.com

"Hey I downloaded this game today for mac and after creating my character I tried playing but I couldn't get past the loading screen. After the last bar turned gold it just stopped and didn't change screen ."

I had the same problem. I downloaded it from the Mac AppStore rather than the Ryzom site, would that make a difference?

And this means i've literally never actually been able to launch the game (just create characters which worked 100% smoothly with no issues)... so changing to alternate characters is not an option, nor is changing in-game settings.

what i HAVE done (after the first couple failed attempts) is - in the launch screen before starting the game, set the resolution as 800x600 and the graphics detail to low. still crashed.

then i opened the client.cfg file and (i guess because i set the detail to low) it ALREADY had "MicroVeget = 0;" but i added "SoundOn = 0;" and tried again. Sure enough, that stopped the music from playing during loading, but it still crashed after about 30 seconds as usual anyway. that is the last thing I have done, so now i will be sending the clean client log as you requested!! just wanted any feedback on here possible, and for anyone reading this post to know that it is currently possible (unfortunately) to follow all the suggestions on here and still have the loading screen crash problem :(

and yes, i have a 2011 MBP 13" so that may be the issue... i just really hope its not
