If its a problem for a new version being where it was put by th egame at some point, shouldn't the patch system be taking it out ?

Patching does not touch 'user' directory.

Hello!

Patching does not touch 'user' directory.

Thats my point. It should.

The patching system "broke the game". With 7090 it worked, with 7358 it didn't, the patching system or files therein made a change that made some of the features unworkable.

I didn't create widgets.xml ... It didn't create itself. Given that Web IG was not part of the original game, I would assume that the game / patching system created it and put it in user directory at some point.

If the game / patching system put it in, I'm suggesting that the game / patching system would be improved by checking for its presence and taking it out or at least pop up a message telling user to delete it.

Without your assistance / troubleshooting, I'd still be w/o the use of these features.

I personally am against patchlet system (and the fact, it's using "user" folder).

"user" folder should be reserved for user custom files and shouldn't have any official content (excepted readme.txt :p).

When user needs to have new data, we should create a new patch and that's all :)

And yes if a file changed in a patch (you should have a look at Ryzom Core commits since most of clients files are now public), you need to update your custom file. I'm using WinMerge to compare different text files.

Ummm ... send what ? :)

I assume the proper steps would be:

1. Experience acrash
2. Run the crash exe thing
3. Send you the file

My bad I explained poorly .... I saw a "crashreport.exe" file in the download, and in the root directory which ... I imagine ... is a tool to use ...if and when... you have a crash. I havent had one in a while.

Ah ok, no problem :)

Sometimes when the client crashes it creates : nel_report_*.log so I thought it was that :)
