I dunno if this will help.

I usually use the following for my weather pattern specially in Prime Roots:

Pattern 1 combo: Fair (Windy,Fair,Sap) + time (am,pm)
Pattern 2 combe: Sap (Windy,Fair,Sap) + time (am,pm)

example:
Fair Windy am
Fair Fair am
Fair Sap am

I use the above pattern since there are 2 weather in Prime Root (Fair,Sap) and also I don't know programming so I can not decode the source code of Rzyom even if it is available. Windy,Fair,Sap are weather effects in Prime Roots (my observation I don't know if we have same weather effects).

How do I use my pattern:
Prospect using the above pattern combo until I got the desired output and mark my map according to the pattern combo and the grade of the mats.

example:
Zun FWAS, FFAE

FWAS = Fair Windy AM Supreme will pop
FFAE = Fair Fair AM Excellent will pop

note: I still use bmsite for the availability of the mats in every season since I never include it in my map marking.

Afriel:

As far as I know, the time doesn't count in PR, since it's below surface level. For the little time I've dug while watching bmsite, knowing the weather slot was sufficient. But then again, I've only recently started to watch bmsite, so I could be wrong ..

Slotforn:

Exc buo in Scorched Corridor absolutely refuses to pop for days at an end; in fact, come to think about it, I've tried in lakes too and it was equally difficult, which makes me think the material has a very narrow weather interval defined for it. Exc zun is similar in SCo, you hardly pop a set before it's weathered again.

Perhaps this is supposed to encourage teamplay or whatever, take 3 masters with you and you take turns trying to dig, while others can relax. I'm not defending the design, just trying to explain it.

If the weatherman reported "Today, it's not raining" it would be taken that the weather isn't accurate enough to be of any use. A check outside, yep it's not raining but an ice age decended overnight!

To say "The weather is 'Fair'" despite the fact fair covers multiple weather patterns is more of a gimmic than a tool.

I accept that this is Atys and it's likely more difficult to provide an accurate display, but I'd like to see the in game report on the map either updated, so it becomes meaningful, or removed completely. That would give Homins who Forage a reasonable chance of being able to determie whether Excel mats are going to pop or not, without running around adopting a "try to pop here" approach.

Of course I could just ignore the in game report, but that's not really the point.

I seriously think that the scarcity and the abundance of mats according to the weather patterns is nicely distributed. I also do like the weather patterns. And do notice that on atys, as well as in the real world, rain can mean a slight drizzle, or it could be the downpour just ahead of a coming thunderstorm. So it feels absolutely natural, that mats which are generally only available during rain, might not be available right now at this particular type of rain.

Bitty already pointed out that the English term of fair weather does not mean best condition. some stuff wants a thorough storm.

However, I do agree that we need a fix for the wrong weather names and scenery being down on some clients. It is obvious that if a team plays together and some see rain and some fair weather that there is a bug. I would bet that there would be much fewer complaints about the system if this would be fixed. Removing the weather description from the map window does not make sense at all. Consequently, we would have to get rid of any weather display ingame, then. Would you really want that, too?

Let's keep the system as it is and fix the one bug, namely that the client often does not show the weather as it is on the server. This makes digging a game of chance indeed.

i have no reason to object to a game being a challenge, but as slor said, it should not be irritating.

i like that they tried to give the weather system complication but the issue i think is that there are too many options as it is. some are saying that there are 3 options; while others say that it's a slide scale from 0 to 1 in .1 or .01 increments. this is too complex for a SANDBOX game if it's more like the latter. while the 3 options format would be reasonable and that would give a 1 in 3 chance of being right, where as the .1 increment would be 1 in 10 and the .01 would be 1 in 100, those would be rather extream in the case of night mat's that are only up for a very short amount of time IRL.

just my 2 dappers again.

Another instance of how weather is clearly way off mark.

Digging Excel Motega in void, I can see it's dark and raining and the in game map shows weather as Thundery. But BMsite site says best and 0.000. Obvioulsy nodes won't pop and are weathered.

Not grumbling, merely suggesting that something obvioulsy isn't right somwhere.

but dark and thundery is just when the exe beng amber pops.

As I have stated before and confirmed time and time again. "good" is not the same for all materials! The digging weather on Karu's site is related to the server, but we aren't totally sure what the variable is.

There are two separate problems with weather. One is that the animation and weather report differ from client to client depending on the OS. The other is that the animation and weather report are inconsistently linked to the variable that determines whether a specific material pops or not.

Given how long these problems have been around I doubt that they are susceptible to easy fixes.

You can think of there being 4 weather patterns in PR for non-SN sups:
2 season sups pop from Best to Good
4 season sups pop at worst and above
The other 2 weathers correspond to 1 season sups.
One, and only one, weather type is always up, if you know the weather type you know which sups will pop (if not depleted).

LoC and US sup zun pop at worst, and SCi and FD pop at best to good.

Map and on screen weather are a mess, but there is also the possibility that onscreen and map weather were only intended to be a clue that mats could pop at this time, not that they would 100%.  BM weather seems to be informantion that players were never intended have access to.

i guess i'm crazy cause i've never seen anything on the bm site that says anything about weather (anyone want to provide a link?), but i have seen something on the armory, not that that helps in regard.

Had the same question, I'm guessing it's one of the apps that you can use with Ryzom. Will check tonight.

'Dark and thundery is when amber pops' is a completely useless response to a Homin that's digging Motega (or am i missing the point?)

Link to BMsite weather is here http://ballisticmystix.net/?p=atys_calendar - At the bottom click 'Weather Graph' and you'll see the various weather patterns.

Off to dig some dark thundery amber :P
