Mac and Linux client and latest patch - Mutual Mac - Ryzom Community ForumHomeGuest

Mutual Mac

Obviously, only the windows client has been updated so far. The linux updater update_ryzom.sh (frontend to some rsync stuff) does not find new files, and in Mac App Store only the previous client may be downloaded.
Any hints how to proceed? The side effects of PvP flag etc. are bit troubling.

I spoke to Mokoi shortly after the patch, expressing that none of the patches appeared to be implemented. He said that Mac and Linux patches would be released in a few days. So keep an eye on the Mac App Store :)

For linux, If you update with update_ryzom.sh it will replace some files. Upon login the client will still be 1.12; however, many of the implementations will be in effect like abandoning quests on Silan etc. (unfortunately for me and many others not the pvp bug fix).

No; if I start seting up a server to ship ryzom builds it will compete with the official release which is not a proper "fix" to the issue. It will substitute my builds to the official ones and people will start complaining to the ryzom team about my build which they will refuse as they did not build it. I'm not skilled enough to do support.

The proper fix should be the dev of ryzom releasing sonner. My builds are just a temporary solution while waiting for the official build.

Yea, sure thing, thanks for making it available.

Maybe they will use your fix in the next patch or mini patch assuming there is no conflict with your GPL...

Also, where would one submit code for that type of inclusion?

#9 [en]

This is not a fix, I just compiled the latest code available into a static client. I did not touched a single line. Still, as I distribute a binary it is hard to tell if true, and you have to trust my word on this.

The GPL is the license; more precisely, ryzom code is released under AGPLv3.

You can learn how to get the source code and compile it here:
http://dev.ryzom.com/projects/ryzom/wiki/BuildForLinuxCmake

And here is the license AGPLv3 which as a user of the code grants you some rights; like access to the source code and right to share:
http://www.gnu.org/licenses/agpl.html

Beside, if I had changed the code, even just one line, I would have the obligation to make that change available to the public, because of the AGPLv3 license.

Thanks. I'm now running 1.13.0 on Mac OS X. Wish that link had been posted months ago.
