Zatarga sent a mail to the guild Grave of the Fireflies in which he states in no unclear terms that he's going to declare their OPs every 2 days to cause them as much trouble as possible as a "revenge" for one of their members being responsible for attacking and taking his beloved OP 50 in the Jungle. That's harassment. And this is exactly what you guys are threatening to do against Wulfpack now (the guild that eventually got his former OP in a transfer). Attacking them every 2 days with no hope of winning just because Zatarga is throwing one of his famous hissy fits.

I can cut and paste Zatarga's mail here if you want. It's currently displayed in a post at the kami forum (and I think other forums as well, such as civ neutral). After all, if you do not want people to see your dirty laundry, do not leave it on the clothes hanger.

Also, Alex was there, it was not someone else using her account. She was active for 95% of the war and then had to afk at the end. She was talking in kami chat, team chat, league chat, etc. She was present in both phases. And in phase 1, Tomstato was online and present as well. So please get your facts straight first before making these public posts.]]>

Scheinbar wurde Ryzom am 27. April für Greenlight eingereicht und hat wie gesagt schon am 21. Mai genug Zustimmung für grünes Licht erhalten :)

Und jetzt zum Wermutstropfen:

so sehr ich mich über die dadurch erhöhte Popularität für Ryzom - vor allem auf lange Sicht - natürlich freue, finde ich doch die Auswahl der "repräsentativen" Videos dazu nicht gerade optimal.

Bei einem steht am Ende etwas von dem damaligen "21-Tage-Free Trial", das es heute ja gar nicht mehr gibt; ein anderes zeigt einen der honigfarbenen pelzigen Kamis, die noch nie im Spiel aufgetaucht sind, phantastische Animationen von dynamischen Kämpfen sowie einem laufenden Tryker, die nicht ingame sind....

Zu allem Überfluß kommt dann aber auch noch eins der alten Tempelkriegs-Videos vor, in dem für Ma-Duk zum Kampf gegen die "Invasoren" aufgerufen wird, dazu ist im Orbit ein Karavan-Schiff zu sehen, das sich Atys stetig nähert. Ein weiteres Video verkündet in dieselbe Bresche schlagend: "Der Krieg hat begonnen", deswegen: "Atys braucht dich".

Da frag ich mich nun, mit was für Erwartungen auf diese Weise "vorbereitete" Spieler, die Ryzom auf Steam finden werden, ins Spiel eintreten mögen...

Ein paar von den Kommentaren der Steam-Community weisen außerdem drauf hin, daß das allererste "aussagekräftige" Bild über Ryzom, das sie zu sehen bekamen, dieses hier war, was teils zu Unmut, teils zu Anzüglichkeiten geführt hat:



Naja, trotz alledem hat Ryzom grünes Licht bekommen und ist jetzt auf Steam quasi als "Gratisspiel" zu finden. Sehen wir mal, was dadurch auf uns zukommen wird :)]]>

Renversant les piles de notes à la recherche d'un parchemin « propre », il n'avait
qu'une idée en tête, avertir le plus rapidement possible Ser Cuiccio Perinia.

Ne trouvant pas de parchemin suffisamment digne à ses yeux, il pris sa plume et au
dos du dessin fait par Nathann, commença à écrire, négligeant un peu comme à son
habitude les formules de politesse :

I stopped doing the deliveries because firstly in the Forest it is a pain to go up and down and up and down again from north to south without being able to TP.  Secondlylower level guild members would usually die in the trek at some stage unless we went on foot with the mounts following which usually ended with a mek or two dead and the trek taking forever to complete. 

Just take it back to how it was already - even if I can't do them now it was one of the most enjoyable activities to do in Ryzom and other players (esp newer ones) should be able to enjoy Atys in the ways which we all did before they completely e'fd it up.]]>

Feel free to think a little bigger. On saturday we will meet here, and collect the ideas posted and start work on creating the event. I will put my own ideas up for consideration thursday.  I would suggest, to try and think creativly with the materials we already have access to. New models / textures etc are possible to add but working with Ark is more the main focus.

[Tamarea] New Ark modules are being created. Adding them will allow to end the coding of the first rite of the new encyclopedy (and so to continue with the next rites)
[Goki] Thanks to Ulukyns hard work, a lot of the tools needed to start working on the first Encyclopedia rite are now in place. So barring intteruptions for small technical Event team related things, Progress has started on that! (yay)

[Tamarea] Thanks to these new modules, the current bugged marauder rite can be rewritten properly. It will so be available in its original version (6 medals to steal and not only 2) and the homins running through the rite won't be cheated several time from 300,000 dappers anymore.]]>

[Ulukyn] It will be quite short. Nothing really special on the dev side, except for some bug fixes, priority is to let the Level Design progress very soon.
 
[Tamarea] Crowdfunding : For the dev projects up to 1500-2000 €, WinchGate is proposing us not to start a crowdfunding, it will found these projects itself if it find them interesting for Ryzom. For each project, the dev will have to give to WG his detailed project with a price estimate for each task, WinchGate will decide then.
 We'd need for Kaetemi to prepare such a document for the "Blender" project (to get rid of 3DSMax).
 
 [Zatalyz] We found/created lots of documents and we need help to 1)translate 2)migrate it on the RF wiki. Lyne and Osquallo have already translated a lot, but help would be welcome, and there is really a lot of things. 
 Regarding the migration to the wiki: it requires no technical knowledge, only patience. I can teach you the little I know. If you are interested, ask me, we'll chose an evening for this (the group generates emulation). 
 For the interested ones who'd like to see this doc: a part is available in the RyzomCore sources, on how to create missions. I'm told that it looks a bit with the ARK options. [Zatalyz] We (Khaganat) are wondering a lot about the choice that Ryzom seems to be doing to work only with Ark to add missions and content, and not on primitives. It won't make the traffic between the server and the players heavier? While everything is in the primitives, most of the tasks are managed by the client? NH is already slow on some days; but how will it be if there are more things based on ARK ? The encyclopedy rites, everything supposed to last, wouldn't it be best in the primitves? Ark is the ideal tool for punctual events, but is it fit for permanent content? Especially on the bandwidth side.
=> [Ulukyn] Indeed, if we had to compare both, ARK takes much more bandwidth than the primitives. Now, if it was simple, fun, efficient to add missions with the primitives, I would have improved the system long ago. But I spent months on it... it's just very very clumsy. The 2 added rites took months, and they bug evey now and then. In addition of not working as expected for socres of reasons. The 2 marauder rites have beed added in 3 years by a very present dev. You cannot really compare. And between developping a not really fitted tool and not really extensible, or rent one more server for Ark, there's no contest. Moreover, new modules will decrease Ark lenghts. With less exchanges between server, client ark, and through the use of new commands.]]>

There were four pages in total and last page contained one single line of writing. I read over it again.

The Karavan are not who you think they are.

Hands shaking, I read the sentence again and again. My heart was pounding in my chest and I thought for a moment I might be sick. The pages slid from my hand, falling softly to the floor. I regained enough composure to grab my gloves and fled the room.

I walked aimlessly through the winding paths of Yrkanis trying to process the contents of the mysterious parchment but wherever I turned I saw a Karavan and I grew anxious, unable to focus. I headed to the guild hall and after a few deep breaths I decided to try and forget by busying myself with dinner. I only managed a few bites. The bodoc meat tasted like ash in my mouth. I soon found myself back in my apartment, avoiding the mektoub in the room.

Questions flooded my mind. Firstly, who placed the parchment in my room… Could it be fake? A Kami ploy to deceive? Highly doubtful, as things were looking they had nothing to fear from us. A Marauder plot maybe? Some Marauders are known to be cunning but how would they know all this and if they did why not tell all of Atys already? This was hopeless.

So what to do now? Maybe if I took it to the Karavan they could shed some light and explain that it was all wrong… Or maybe they would destroy it and me, rather like the poor Trytonists. I shivered.  At some point I would need to devise a plan if they ever did learn I had this information.  My mind grew tired as I thought of safe places from the Karavan.  At some point sleep consumed me and I dreamt of dwelling in caves in the Prime Roots like a primitive.

I awoke to the sound of banging on my door.

“Elv! They are moving the kipcuka today! Get your lazy ass out of bed!”

I listened for Alee’s receding footstep and groaned.

A small crowd had gathered at the Matis Arena where the kipucka was being relocated. There was a tingle of excitement in the air. Officials buzzed around, trying to act important. Everyone fell silent as the Kipucka was brought in, strapped to the wagon. It was covered in its own filth.  It was just wrong  meddling with such creatures.  Just like the Fyros miners were wrong to slaughter the first Kitins they encountered. Maybe so much of our history would have been different if that event had not happened. Are we Matisians so different from those Fyros? No, we are clearly just as arrogant if not worse and we may just prove the undoing of our world. Huh.. our world...  My mind grew dark thinking of the letter again.

“Elv are you… ok?”

Deep in my thoughts I had not noticed Alee approach. I composed myself and nodded.

“Its not what I expected,” Alee said hesitantly.

“What did you expect...? That it would not be suffering? Does that look like a creature that should be held in captivity to be poked and prodded? That we are vastly superior and we have a right to do this?” My fists were clenched.

Alee looked me over again, his face betraying concern.

I sighed and softened my voice. “Lets just head to the Karavan meeting”.

The Karavan meeting proceeded in its usual dull fashion. The same topics were brought up, the same conclusions were drawn and I had no doubt the outcome would be the same as well. I nodded here and there as was appropriate. Two hours later my head was aching and eventually the homins who had fallen half asleep during the meeting were all of a sudden showing some interest the second ‘outpost materials’ was uttered. How hollow our achievements have proved. We snatched an outpost out of Kami hands only to have its produce trickled to us by our own. Damn them all. Let them drown in their gluttony.

By this point I cannot deny I felt something strange stir inside me. I have followed the light of Jena just like my family and our ancestors without question. But now there were more important matters to consider.

I felt someone’s hand on my shoulder. “Elvy, everyone's gone so we’re going back to Yrkanis.”

I turned to Sj. So young and innocent. What I have done and wouldn’t do to protect her. So much she may never know.

“I’m going to stay here for a while. There is bodoc stew in the guild hall.”

Alee, Mely and Sj looked at one each other awkwardly. Maybe I shouldn’t have snapped at Alee like that earlier. Maybe I shouldn’t have done a lot of things...

“I’ll be there in a bit, you guys go on ahead.” I forced a smile as I watched them break their teleport pacts and they vanished.  I returned my gaze to the campfire deep in thought.

By now the sun was beginning to set and the warmth of the campfire was inviting. I felt I had an important decision to make. I could no longer make excuses for what I had read. As much as it would hurt me I vowed my family should never find out about it. I took it upon myself to protect them and I will continue to do so even if it means they will hate me for it.

As for myself, I would pay Virg a visit in the Marauder camp. With that decided I stood up and brushed the dust from my Karavan skirt. I broke a teleport pact and found myself back in Yrkanis, the moon light here casting a formidable shadow over the Karavan surrounding the teleporter. 

As I got closer to my apartment entrance I noticed Anichi Antonio.  At this time the apartment caretaker was usually taking care of himself with a drink or two at the bar not actually taking care of the apartments.

“Oh Elf yoo in foo a trey!” he said as he devoured a sweet shooki bud.

I raised one eyebrow at him. He gulped.

“I said, you are in for a treat! They said they were going to surprise you with the sweets!” he beamed. 

My heart skipped a beat. I pushed him out of the way and sprinted up the stairs. I banged open the door of my apartment and there they were. Mely, Sj and Alee with the parchment in his hands. The blood had drained from his face.

"Elv... this... what IS this..." he whispered.

I snatched it and threw it on the floor casting fire at it. “How much did you read?” my voice quivered.  The silence was all the answer I needed.

Translation of the rites
[Wiedii] The ARK team would like for an English translation of the rites to be done BEFORE the Level Design gives them. So with the risk that you may sometimes have to adjust the dialogs later, so work again on the translation. Does it bother you or do you prefer to have everything at the end, once it's stabilised?
[Drumel] I'd prefer to have the things bit by bit.
[Lyne] Same as Drumel: I'd prefer to do it gradually, even if I've got to redo it sometimes, rather than having to do everything at the same time. It may mean more works in the end, but it's easier to include it in my schedule.

Translation of Lore wiki
- Please wait for the Lore articles on the public wiki to have the validation stamps, since even if they are published on the wiki, they can still change.
- Having an easy list of articles to translate on the wiki, with priorities, would be fine. Currently, eveything is a bit in a mess, and you never know where to start.]]>

Wiki Lore
- Les sujets sur les deux précédentes tribus sont finalisés (mais pas encore validés officiellement), le travail sur la tribu des Amazones est en cours de fin d'écriture et les prochaines tribus sur l'établi sont : les Embourbés et les Trafiquants de l'Ombre.
- L'équipe infographie est en train de terminer de faire pour l'équipe Lore un tampon de validation qui viendra orner les articles du wiki validés par les validateurs de l'équipe Lore. C'est un WIP mais ça devrait ressembler à ça : https://lut.im/mLiTCOIe/2lFrEHdk (interdiction de l'utiliser sans l'aval desdits certificateurs qui devraient être au nombre de 4, sous NDA).

Lore primaire
- Coté /NDA, trois membres travaillent sur la Lore "primaire" afin de poser de façon plus précise la Lore, et de lui donner les assises qu'elle mérite. Ceci en relation étroite avec une petite partie de l'équipe d'auteurs d'origine de la Lore, afin de conserver (et parfois revenir) à l'esprit originel de la Lore (dite monkienne, pour les initiés).
- L'équipe /NDA travaillant sur le "primaire" et les volontaires Lore RF prennent donc chacun la Lore par un bout, pour reformer un corpus loresque complet, et se rejoindre au milieu, le tout sous la direction et validation des 4 validateurs (ceux qui tiennent le tampon).]]>

Actually, the people who take time to welcome newomers on Silan, the ones who speak on the generic MMORPG forums, etc, are acting as communicators, be them aware of it or not. Or by taking time to see how the teams are working, motivating the ones who're there to work. There are in every linguistic community some "exchanges helpers", but few of them want an official role. Nonetheless, they're doing much without appearing to.

Event Group

Lore Group

Lore wiki
- The topics about the two previous tribes are done (but not officially validated yet), the work about the tribe of the Hamazans of the Deed is at the last step of writing, and the next tribes on the shelf are: Shadow Runners and Ecowarriors.
- The graphic team is finishing, for the Lore team, a validation stamp which will ornate the wiki articles validated by the members of the Lore validation. It's a WIP, but it should look a bit like this: https://lut.im/mLiTCOIe/2lFrEHdk (it's forbidden to use it without the authorisation of said validators, who should be 4, under NDA).

Primary Lore
- On the NDA side, there are three members working on the "primary" Lore in oder to settle the Lore more precisely, and give it the foundations it deserves. This in close relationships with the small part of original authors of the Lore, in order to keep (and sometime come back to) the original spirit of the Lore (said "monkial", for the initiates).
- The NDA team working on the "primary" and the RF Lore volunteers are then both taking the Lore by an end, to recreate a complete lorian corpus, and meet in the middle, the whole of it under the leadership and validation of the 4 validators (the ones with the stamp).


Support Group

[Tiximei] No special requests from the support team. We are really happy to watch the activity in the ryzom forge project and cheer on you all. The support team is not so much about instigating changes, but to take care of the player with the ever changing world of Atys. What the support team really needs is to be made aware of changes and events going on at any given time.

Une bonne artisane doit connaitre les comportements de chaque caractéristique de l'oeuvre produite par rapport à leur potentiel lors de la fabrication.

Je ferais le classement suivant pour les caractéristiques :
- les proportionnelles simples
chaque % de précraft se répercute sur la valeur finale. Par exemple le poid, la legerté, le facteur de protection, la charge en sève...
- les proportionnelles modulées selon le plan
même chose que les précédentes mais la qualité du plan influe aussi. C'est le cas de la durabilité.
- les proportionnelles modulées selon la qualité
la valeur finale suit le % de précraft mais dépend aussi de la qualité produite. C'est le cas des seuils de protection sur les tenues.
- les caractéristiques à paliers
la plage de valeur finale de ces caractéristiques est très réduite par rapport à l'amplitude 0-100% de précraft. Et comme la valeur est arrondie, il faut parfois augmenter de beaucoup le % pour faire changer d'une unité la valeur finale. C'est le cas de l'esquive, la parade, la protection magique des bijoux...

Pour optimiser la conception, il est très important de connaitre les paliers de chaque caractéristiques.
Par exemple pour la protection magique du bijou - acide, feu, etc. - à 88% vous avez +7 garanti, et à 100% le +8.
autrement dit, une protection de 94% représente un "gâchis", étant donné que la valeur finale restera +7, comme si on avait 88%.
Peut-être vous pouvez échanger des matières ? pour redescendre à 88% et pour l'occasion faire monter une autre caractéristique de protection au dessus de 88%. Ou bien tout simplement utiliser une matière moindre mais plus facile à se procurer...

Les valeurs de protection d'un bijou sont par paliers de 12.5%, ce qui est assez grand.
Idem pour la résistance, mais la valeur finale ayant un chiffre après la virgule, on peut la considérer comme une proportionnelle simple. Pas de véritable "gâchis" donc, à être loin d'un palier.



Voici un exemple de bijou en matières excellentes avec un montage cameapase ( "quatre-quarts" )



De son coté, le montage neleilyase est une belle optimisation : les 3 protections sont à +7 au raz du palier !



Mais j'ai déjà expliqué que le neleilyase est médiocre par sa solidité. C'est là votre art de bijoutier que de faire la même chose en plan supérieur !

Tout ceci concerne l'optimisation d'un bijou. Mais n'oubliez pas que ce qui compte au final c'est la parure globale.
Cela ne sert aussi à rien d'avoir +7 acide sur les DIX bijoux alors que nous avons déjà naturellement +10 et que le maximum et +70.
Un zorai n'a en théorie besoin que de +5 par bijou en protection électrique pour chasser le kincher. Mais il peut aussi avoir 6 bijoux en +8, ce qui laisse potentiellement +32 de protection à répartir ailleurs...
Les meilleures parures sont forcément composites, qu'on se le dise.

Ne pas perdre de vue la parure globale, tout en optimisant chaque bijou par rapport aux paliers. Une parure digne de ce nom est conçue comme un puzzle : les pièces se complètent entre elles, mais aussi avec nos protections et résistances naturelles, propres à chaque races.
