passwords are encrypted with 'crypt', it uses DES i think and it's salted.

Yep, the traditional DES-based scheme of crypt(3) uses a very small salt (12 bits represented by 2 characters). Fun fact: Ryzom's code include implementations of crypt(3) and MD5 (md5 isn't used for game passwords).

Han pasado diez años desde el lanzamiento del juego, lo que se hizo después de cuatro años de desarrollo. Con sus alegrías y preocupaciones, las victorias y sacrificios. Pero Ryzom sigue ahí, vivito y coleando.

Deseamos ante todo rendir homenaje a todos aquellos que hicieron este universo y este juego, que han ideado, desarrollado y han ayudado a crecer.

Así que pensamos con mucho cariño en los equipos Nevrax, por supuesto, sino también en Cryo que participaron en la redacción de la Lore, en MDO, Themis y Jolt para el soporte y la animación, a Bjørn Arve Lagim por la composición de la música, a Gameforge, y finalmente, en Spiderweb que se ha convertido en Winch Gate Property.

Pero Ryzom probablemente no sería lo que es hoy sin los cientos de voluntarios que dieron, a lo largo de estos diez años, su pasión, su tiempo, sus talentos y sus esfuerzos por el bien del juego y de la comunidad comunidad; independientemente de que pertenezcan a la sección de asistencia técnica y de gestión de la comunidad, o el equipo de animación, a los traductores, o los muchos desarrolladores voluntarios de Ryzom Core. Todo el equipo de Ryzom desean expresar su enorme gratitud.

Finalmente, gracias a todos ustedes, los jugadores apasionados de nuestro universo y de nuestro juego, Ryzomias. La historia de Ryzom no termina aquí. Más bien al contrario. Ryzom continúa, más fieles cada día a las ambiciones de aquellos que lo llevaron desde el principio: a cada paso que hacemos, nos lleva al más cerca al mundo Abierto, y más recientemente con la publicación de todas las obras de arte del juego bajo la licencia Creative Commons (CC-BY-SA). Comenzó el pasado mes de julio, Ryzom Forge da más que nunca para los amantes de todas las formas de habilidad para contribuir a la evolución del juego y el universo: las características técnicas y artísticas están comenzando a surgir y las ambiciones de Ryzom Forge son grandes. El Lore, ahora parte del público en Ryzom Wiki, con los ajustes que se necesita para dar sus frutos y crecer, respetando siempre y continuando sus orígenes del 2004. ARCC está creciendo con la integración de nuevos contenidos de Misiones y Ritos, e incluso con la apertura de esta maravillosa herramienta para las masas, en un futuro cercano.

Así que diez años han pasado, lleno de descubrimiento y placeres, con algunos problemas en ocasiones, pero siempre de compartir y de divertirnos juntos.Sin embargo, el futuro promete ser aún más brillante, y la promesa de ver el Ryzom que hemos soñado ha estado más cerca de la realidad tal como es hoy. El camino es aún largo, pero existe. Y podemos recorrerlo juntos.

Calendario de los eventos el 21 de septiembre del 2014

Durante las 24 horas del evento:
  • Apertura temporal de las "isla de 10 años" a los jugadores, con un paisaje original y en parte inédito. El acceso a través de terminales de telepuerto en cada capitolio del establo de la ciudad y en el campamento Merodeador.
  • Además de los objetos creados por Ryzom Forge: diversos objetos de apartamento, banderas nacionales, peluches gubanis, y grandes sorpresas creado especialmente para el evento.
  • Búsqueda para obtener fuegos artificiales ilimitadas durante los eventos.
  • Apertura del Yubo Golf en versión beta para el día. 
  • Acceso a través de terminales de telepuerto en cada capitolio del establo de las ciudades, y en le campamento Merodeador.

 

A las 07:00pm UTC (21h00 CEST):
  • Foto grupal.
  • Creación por los jugadores de un gigante luminoso "10", filmadas por Misugi.

after several seasons of work we've decoded another nine scrolls to share with the homins of atys. the work has been very difficult due to the continual degradation of the scrolls left to work with. we feel that our work will soon shift from decoding the scrolls to finding the key to the order. we'd like to share with you the newest nine decoded scrolls with you all: "...is..." "...can..." "...they want..." "...we have..." "...found..." "...and learn..." "...perhaps..." "...when..." "...homins in..." now as always there in no clear order to these scrolls we've decoded. it's our pleasure to tell all the homins of atys that there are only thirteen scrolls left to decode. we intend to work on those scrolls exclusively until the entire collection is done. that being said it may be some time before our next post of results.
three of the thirteen scrolls left are in very bad shape and will be the most difficult to decode. from on current work done and based on the thirteen left to decode, those three will be the largest challenge of all. this is in part due to the condition they are in, but also because they seem to be the most densely coded scrolls.
we shall turn from our report now and return to the work ahead of us, soon atys we shall have the entire collection of scrolls decoded. at that time we intend to put all of our effort into finding the order they go in so the mystery of them can finally be found. once more thank you all for the support and faith that you have given us in this endeavor.]]>

For me this is just to much and they know it. 
The new Gladiator post was gonna go up next week we only needed to decide on a date everything was ready. We did some more Atyslympics tests for Kirosta ball and such wich looked fun. Had some other stuff in the pipeline aswell ...

I unsubbed Suboxide (wich was my main for 8+years) and Subox (wich I had subbed to support this game these past 4years or so I think). You can still find me in FH at the stables as Subunsubbed and in cookies channel and on teamspeak.

If any cookie wants to go on with these events they can contact me and I'll help em with it but for me my entire ryzom gameplay got killed this week and I'm not supporting a game like that.

ps. If these guards where here by mistake and for some reason take their leave from my spot where I sit to chat with newbies, help them and have fun then I'm resubbing and the events get rebooted again.

* It hurts me verry much but as an lvl 1 f2p I can't do them and this harrasement by event team is just to much for me (for oldies you know I was harrased by a member from event team once before I got 2 csr to publicly apoligize for his actions, but event team then never apoligized for their member telling lies instead they stopped doing the event team ooc talks with the players since to much where demanding for apoligies for what had happend against me and some ppl I rather don't bring into this)

A foot came into view as Jazzy stepped forward with a rye smile on his face. Virg knew he didn't have much time, or else he risked capture. He reached out and clenched his fist squeezing a drop of blood into the sand, quietly whispering the words, "I embrace my punishment and thank you for your gift Melkiar". With that, thick black tendrils of smoke curled out of the sandy beach, entwining and enveloping him.

Light flared around him and he found himself standing just outside Fairhaven, near the Kami teleporter. He felt a sudden rush and a surge of strength as Cramer, the exceedingly tall Zorai, casually swiped his right hand towards him, instantly healing him. The Syndicate members strode forward purposefully towards Fairhaven. With the army currently in Avendale their task would be a lot simpler and more subtle.


Jirana Cevino and Senn Mac'Carn were once again, as they always did, arguing. The local homins of Fairhaven were still in complete disbelief that after all this time Jarana and Senn still stood next to each other, each refusing to move from their favorite spot. Today they were arguing about the finer details of their crafting plans, particularly concerning vedice weapons. Jirana yelled out in frustration "Eugghhh! You half wit fool! In fact you completely lack any wit what so ever! Can you not see that by rubbing the vedice sap from left to right, the sword is made stronger! Rubbing right then left just simply does not." He cut of sharply as a shadow loomed over them both, silhouetted by the sun. As they peered closer the shadow moved to one side momentarily blinding both crafters as the sun flared in their eyes. Once they readjusted to the light what they saw froze them in their place. A tall homin, most definately Zorai, stood at the forefront of a group dressed in white Erouk'an armour. They recognized the group of marauders instantly, all armed to the teeth. They glanced around for the guards and found none. This group, Syndicate as they referred to themselves, had been responsible for many attacks on Fairhaven recently. A very short homin stepped forward and took off his Klam helmet and spoke with a grin on his face, "Lets have a little chat shall we".


Senn watched the marauders leave and turned to Jirana with a worried look on his face, "What are we going to do? They just strolled in here! Where were the guards!?". Jirana seemed lost for words but eventually spoke in a small whisper and muttered, "I think we should teach them what they want to know. Hopefully they will get their own teachers soon enough and then will leave us be".



[OC] This RP post was written with the hope that until the marauder camp gets a big trepan and tree bore crafters, that the Fairhaven crafters fame requirement should be lowered to allow us access to buy the OP -duk and -jen plans. It should hopefully be an easy change to implement.]]>

Ravenh and Lessah and Moose headed out the main gates of Yrkanis. Ravenh was leading Moose with his rein which gave Moose unlimited access to “accidentally” goose Ravenh's backside with his trunk. Ravenh would jump each time and whip his head around glaring at Moose. If he didn't know better Moose was smiling. “I swear he's doing it on purpose, Lessah.”

Lessah chuckled as she watched her Mektoub tease Ravenh. “Awww, he just wants your attention. Don't you my sweet moosey Moose-Moose?” Lessah cooed as she pat Moose on the back. Lessah followed Ravenh while walking next to her Mektoub, keeping her eyes open for any immediate threats. “So...Ravenh, I was thinking...” Lessah began as Moose suddenly stopped in his tracks to smell something that interested him, “I know you like to kill things, but maybe it would be a good idea to practice some healing magic...you know, just in case we get into major trouble.” Lessah paused, waiting for Ravenh's reaction while Moose started to walk again, only to stop suddenly again and pull a little in the direction of the smell.

Ravenh would get tugged back every time Moose discovered an interesting smell and would grunt and tug back on the rein. “Wish he didn't want so much attention,” he would mutter under his breath. He frowned at her reference of him liking to kill things... she made him sound so barbaric, so primitive... I mean, it's way more than just enjoying to kill things... it's combat arts, perfecting your skills in melee, it's...it's...who are we kidding? He does like killing things. Ravenh stopped in his tracks when she mentioned healing magic and he scrunched his nose as if he just inhaled something rancid, “I don't know... I mean it's magic...I just don't...” he paused before admitting he might not be good at something and his ego checked back in, “I mean, I could do it, if it interested me, I'm not saying I couldn't do it..” his ego tended to ramble a bit.

Lessah watched the Mektoub take off in random directions, only to be brought back by a tug on the rein. “Sorry, I guess he hasn't been out in a while,” she said as an excuse. The truth was Moose was always like that and she was thankful that Ravenh was handling him instead of her. “Anyway, I know magic wouldn't be your first choice, but it might come in handy” she added. The truth was, she wasn't sure if she could convince Ravenh that magic was useful. It would mean convincing Ravenh that something or someone could get passed him, and attack her. “I mean, what if it came to the point where a heal spell could turn the battle around?” she questioned.

Ravenh let out a quick chuckle, “Assuming that the battle would need to be turned around. I think I can handle myself quite well in combat.” he arrogantly stated. He waved his hand in dismissal, “No, I think I can do without magic.” He reached up and tapped the hilt of his sword on his back, “As long as this is within reach, we have nothing to worry about. Thanks but no thanks.” And as we have all just witnessed, Ravenh's ego can get a bit out of hand at times... can we say jerk?

Lessah sighed in frustration, catching Moose's attention. His trunk suddenly swept over her face, inspecting her. Lessah allowed Moose to sniff her as she whined at Ravenh. “Suppose something or someone knocked me out and one measly heal spell would save my life? Would you be interested in learning it then? Wouldn't you want to save me?” Lessah argued, knowing that she was unfairly trapping him. Lessah and Moose both looked at Ravenh, waiting for his response.

Ravenh sighed, “No.... no, I wouldn't want you to be hurt.” He looks around trying to find some distraction but with no luck, finally throwing his hands up, “Fine...show me this magic stuff...” remembering some of the male magic users in town and what they wore, he points sternly at her, “I'm not wearing a dress though. No way. It's this or I'm out.” tapping his heavy armor chest plate.

Lessah perks up and smiles, choosing not to discuss how his heavy armor might interfere with this magic. She was smiling more because he said he wouldn't want her to be hurt. She'd replay him saying that over and over in her head, because in her twisted female mind, it just might mean, that he had deeper feelings for her. Lessah kneels and gestures for Ravenh to join her while Moose wanders away to eat some long grass.

Ravenh closes his eyes and groans while rubbing his forehead. He couldn't go back on his word now, so he kneels down next to her, letting out an involuntary sigh, “Please tell me I don't have to recite a bunch of silly mumbo jumbo words.”

Lessah giggled as Ravenh forced himself to endure a magic lesson. She reached for his hand and placed it in between hers. As they touched, butterflies filled her stomach and she felt her cheeks burn a little. Was she blushing? “Um...” she began “yeah, so you just need to concentrate on releasing the healing energy that's already within you. In a way, you are giving a piece of yourself to heal another...” She then demonstrated while holding Ravenh's hand by releasing a heal spell on Moose. Moose briefly looked over at them before returning to eating the grass. “That was a very weak spell...most casters find that bringing their arms into their chests before casting helps” she said, recognizing how bizarre that probably sounded.

Ravenh wouldn't admit it aloud but his heart began to race a bit and his palms got sweaty as their hands touched. He watched and listened to her instruction but thought it was a waste of time, “Why do you have to flail your arms about? Can't you just throw it like a rock?” As he said that, he stood up and did a wind up and threw nothing at the Mektoub. Kneeling back down beside Lessah he grunted, “This is silly.” Ravenh's inhibitions were going to prove quite the obstacle, wouldn't you say?

Lessah was amused by Ravenh's take on how to cast a heal spell but she was also worried that his frustration would prevent him from learning the skill. “The...uh, flailing is symbolic...” she started but then realized it wouldn't help to explain that right now. “Okay, yes the flailing may look silly but it really helps. This skill is a natural innate ability that you already possess, Ravenh. You just need to let it surface so that you can build it up.” Lessah smiled at him encouragingly “Try again, and concentrate as though there were real danger.”

Ravenh took a deep breath, “Ok Ok” he said begrudgingly. He closed his eyes and tried to concentrate on feeling some kind of energy within him. He wasn't sure if it was real or if he was imagining it, but it did feel as if his hands tingled a moment. To the best of his ability he did the arm movements, though very awkwardly. after the long period of time being held as a hostage, it came time to find out what was next. it was clear that no one would pay the ransom. strange as it may have been, so many had complained, but none seamed to have the nerve to do what needed to be done. the death of talk and ros was close at hand but it seamed that while so many could talk a hard talk, none could do the deed to remove the prisoners.

while some could talk a mean talk, they couldn't seam to act out the mean act. then there was a mara that truely would live up to the title, one that didn't care what others thought, who proudly walked up and finished the two prisoners off quickly.

a quick death, and suddenly her camp was once again a place free from these outsiders, why didn't anyone else have the nerve to do what she had done. those two fools had sat there unprotected for countless hours (9 real world hours to be exact) and all any one could do was look and complain.

perhaps next time someone will be less foolish and do what needs to be done right away.

we can let marikka and grizabella have the daydream of how the hostages left, it's much more friendly then the death that found the foolish homins, thank goodness there was a true marauder in the camp to dispatch the fools the way a marauder should, with action and not empty threats.]]>

Which raises the question: what is the source of this performance degradation over time? Inefficient server software? Errors, cached data, garbage data building up?

And conversely, isn't there something that can be done to prevent a repeat of the situation in another 2-4 months? A maintenance script that runs daily/weekly, scheduled reboots (that would help PR refill too, hint hint), anything? Given the limited developer time, I should think maintenance operations would be automatized as best as they can be.

Of course, I could be entirely off with this deduction.]]>

Abstract:

Psykopla apparently project an influence on Wombais nearby when placed under stress. The wombais react with excitement and increased motion.

Previous Research:

From amber cubes on file in NTCS and other locations:
Of the family of Psychic plants, the psykopla's short stem is surmounted by a large bulbous head which changes color when pulsating. It has been said that the psykopla is able to direct psychic waves onto a prey to gain control of its psyche. The victim then becomes devoted to the plant and acts on its behalf in the protection of its habitat. This is, however, yet to be proved. The psykopla occurs mainly in forest and jungle regions it being slightly bigger in the latter environment.

Observations:

I have observed what might be the first verifiable evidence of the long-agreed upon idea that the so-called "brains" influence the behavior of beasts nearby. Although this may be true in general, my observations apply specifically to Wombais.

Narrative:

I was harvesting Psykopla in the Knot of Dementia, just northeast of Stainmoor Border Post, where Prickly Psykoplas grow in an area frequented by a herd of mixed Nettled, Vicious and Feral Wombaï and a few Feral Bodoc. Several of the Psykoplas were near the center of the herd. As I started to harvest one of them I noticed that the Wombais became excited and started to mill about, stamp their feet and probe the dust with their beaks. Wombais being excitable creatures, this did not surprise me. However, as I finished slicing the last of the psykopla (for later grilling), I noted that the Wombais immediately calmed down and became their usual placid, but noisy selves. When I attacked the second psykopla in the middle of the herd, the excitation increased again until I finished harvesting it, whereupon they calmed down.

Experimental Results:

I was able to replicate this behavior several times with the following results:

1. No effect was noted if the Wombai were more than about 5m - 7m away from the Psykopla.
2. Nettled Wombai were the most sensitive to the influence, followed by the Vicious Wombai. The Feral Wombai were the least disturbed.
3. The Feral Bodocs apparently are insensitive to the influence; their behavior did not change.
4. I observed the excitation, not only near the original center of the herd, but also when one or more Wombai were near a Psykopla that I was attacking. The effect was less obvious when observed in a small number of Wombai, but was clearly present.

It remains possible that the Wombai react to any violence in their vicinity, but I was not able to test this at the observation site with an attack on the Bodoc, since the wombai will defend a Bodoc fiercely. This is excitation, but not a good test.

Future direction:

Find other sites and investigate reaction of Wombai to other beasts and influence of Psykopla on other beasts.

I went back with a friend and took care of the mission smoothly without being in a group, which triggered perfectly. This is the first problem I have had with the missions in terms of things being a little too vague, so thank you all again for your assistance and input on my issues. first of all:
the Turkish file should be named tr.uxt
and setting in the client.cfg for language should be tr as well

secondly:
there are other files in the client needed for a complete translation
  • some html-files for the help
  • yyyyyy_words_xx.txt (where yyyyyy is oneof the following: creature, faction, item, outpost, place, sbrick, skill, sphrase, title)
  • r2_xx.uxt (no longer used, were for the ring)

thirdly:
as Suboxide mentioned some texts are saved on the server - not only the AARC things but others as well

and last but not least:
You shouldn't use libreoffice to edit the uxt-files as neither writer nor calc are designed to cope with them (the yyyyyy_words_xx.txt files can be opened as a CSV file though)
Seeing that you're using fedora: try vim, emacs or gedit (or if you'd like to have a click-able UI most IDEs should be OK as well) the uxt-files are encoded as utf-8 and the .txt ones are UCS-2 LE (Unicode as well but 16 bit instead of 8)
Oh, and the people on #ryzom know probably a lot more about the best tools to edit the files than the ones in #ryzomsupport]]>

Having autoswitch depend on the action might have undesirable side effects. Sometimes I *do* want to cast a spell while hanging onto my sword. Also really difficult to sense (without clicking) what "bar" is up. Most of my bars have mixed actions in them. (The exception being my digging bars, and you can already do auto-equip for a pick. (SYSTEM > Game configuration > Interface > HUD.) Unfortunately it auto-equips bare hands for magic or fighting, and if you have mobs on/near your digging spots you can aggro a mob very easily. )

Agreed. I have been know to cast with my spear or pick in hand on purpose. And when I melee, I don't always go for the same weapon; maybe my spear, maybe my daggers.... the client has no way of knowing my intentions. However, it's rare (not unheard of, merely rare) that I target Gerder and cast Double-Electricity 5 while in dig gear, so auto-equipping because I got the wrong action bar would cause me more problems than it would solve. And trust me, I am pretty good at causing myself problems without the UI guessing wrong about what I'm trying to do.]]>

As I understand it, however, the regular spawns have their aggro characteristics built into the code, unlike creatures spawned by the Event Team whose aggro characteristics are subject to modification. That would mean that this change would need to go into a server patch, something that one does not do without trepidation. Given that Ryzom Core and Ryzom Forge exist, however, it might be do-able now.]]>
