Reached round level 4 and barely missed going to Phase 2, fifth round ended with only a few guards standing. Twintops was defended by 3 kami players (Lamda, Sreothus and one more) against 20+ karas. Reached round level 21. Kami isn't as strong as it was 6 months ago.

You *can* find a time when the defenders' schedules clash with RL and attack then. The attacker side essentially has to win a PvE fight that has PvP awkwardly shoehorned in. Good attackers can avoid the pvp altogether by spamming heal enchants on each other, and elemental bomb enchants on the guards.

You got 7 rounds in Thesos despite being outnumbered 3:1, surely you don't need to be told how badly overpowered enchant healing is, when coupled with good pvp jewels. And I've seen how much damage Outsiders did on q200 guards by bombing them. Essentially, a skirmish like that is almost guaranteed to cause grief and loss for the defenders, with very little fun to be had.

But - considering there is a rather similar idea posted by Afriel in February, that even adds a reward for the attacking guild .. there must be some merit in it to keep cropping up. Probably a matter of tweaking the right parameters of such fights.

Some of the normal OP mechanics could be tweaked for these skirmishes - guards toughened up to avoid melting them with a bomb enchant, limits placed on how many mats can be stolen after an attack, limits on participating members even, etc. Again, the idea is alright but there must be an attempt to show there can be balanced fights; no point swinging from one lopsided situation to another.

will drop the storage wars idea from here, so I won't derail the topic ]]>

Over the past week or so, I;ve been looking into why my Linux client runs (incredibly) slowly. To put it in context, opening up applications (including Ryzom) seems to take forever.

I;ve updated the kernel to the latest and also been houskeeping (removing unrequired packagaes etc) but still no joy.
Linux <Bubba's PC> 3.16.0-031600-generic #201408031935 SMP Sun Aug 3 23:36:11 UTC 2014 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

Running 'top' shows Ryzom a one of the higest CPU users leading me to believe that the Ryzom client is hogging resource and slowing my PC down.

Then I stumbled across the following bug affecting Unity: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/unity/+bug/1041354

running 'sudo apt-get remove libreoffice-gtk' to remove libreffice-gtk and my PC came to life and now runs lightening fast again, including the Ryzom Client :-)

Hope this helps!]]>

He was a young boy raised by his father and mother to be a gentleman to women, respectful to elders, and a fierce warrior to all foes. He was taught that his word is his bond and to never go against that. From birth, Lilz’s father helped train and hone his skills as a warrior. His mother taught him where to harvest the best of crops and how to craft the highest quality items. His father was warned in a vision long ago that a great swarm would come, he attempted to tell others, but he instead was called crazy.. So he made sure his family was prepared for what was ahead… all the other homins would see soon enough.
In 2483, the day of his 22nd birthday, Lilz had become the master of many skills just like his parents trained him to be. He had made his family proud on this day, but other forces were at work.. The sun never shined, the wind was still, and the air was stale..the homins began to feel uneasy at the ominous presence of the unfolding day.
Suddenly, there were shadows of creatures that appeared across the village, some were giant others were small. Alarms sounded throughout the village, the villagers realized these were the creatures Lilz’s father had been warning against all this time. These “kitin” were swarming in fast, the men grabbed their swords and started to combat the creatures, however it was too much… Many began to flee the city in hopes of survival. Some homins were lucky enough to ride the “magical rainbow” as its called to the mainland. Hence meaning, those who followed either the ways of the Kami or ways of the Karavan were teleported to safety. Those in the middle unsure of what they believed, or those without religion were left to die in the lands.
Unfortunately, Lilz had been away from the village foraging away in a distant part of the forest completely oblivious to the horrors happening. Suddenly, he began to see figures in the distance running towards him, and the screams began to echo through the trees. Lilz in a panic raced to the village and back to his home. He opened the door only to find his family on the floor of his house dead with kitin marks fresh on their bodies.

A hot fire burned in the boy turning his once blue eyes-red, his once pale skin-turned tan and tough, and his hair was singed off his head. The smell in the air attracted kitin but the boy was ready. He firmly grasped his fathers sword tight an killed the first Kitin scout that came to kill him. He cut the poison glands off of the creature and marked his arm with a hash mark to signify his mission. More and more came he dodged, parried and evaded many strikes and poisonous gas spat at him, with each one he killed another hash mark was added to his arm..

After the fighting subsided a total of 22 kitin were killed at his hand. On this day Lilz became the warrior/man he knew his father had always wanted him to be. He gathered weapons food and any supplies he thought he would of needed and left to the surrounding forest. As a Matis born he had no trouble seeking shelter and hiding from any homin, kitin or any other predator.
Lilz survived in the wilderness for many months observing the patrols of Kitin and hunting animals still left to eat. One day, he came across a clearing in the forest which had a bunch of food laid out. The spread was tempting, for he hadn’t eaten in days and but uneasiness filled a pit in his stomach. Ignoring the feeling, he sprang for the food and as he took a bite, he felt something wrap around his leg. It was a trap! He was hoisted 10 feet off the ground upside-down. As he struggled, a man appeared and explained he was Melkiar the Black Varinx. He was the leader of the homins left behind now deemed the Marauders. These homins came from every village spanning across every land banning together to survive what was left of the lands.

Melkiar and the hidden guards in the trees cut him down from the tree and hauled him back to their camp. Over the next few days, Lilz began to learn the ways of this new realm. He was astonished at the new combat techniques and the new armor made of natural materials found abundantly in the area. They knew he was fit to be a warrior and happily welcomed him to their ranks. Soon after, a day came for another assault to wipe out the kitins,.. The assault commenced and for every 1 marauder, 24 kitin died. Even with those numbers each side kitin and marauder took heavy losses, but the Marauders still drove deeper into the lair. When they finally arrived at the queens chamber after numerous attacks they thought they defeated the queen. The men began to breath a sigh of relief and Melkiar turned from the seemingly lifeless body of the Queen and yelled “WE ARE VICTORIOUS.” However, the queen in a last ditch effort, sprung her tail fang up and lunged it through his heart. Their fearless leader had been conquered…
Months later… the wounded group of warriors found their way onto the mainland and created a camp. After many nights awake, Lilz had made a decision to leave his new comrades in search of a sanctuary to recover from his own personal losses. After awhile, Lilz had fully regained his strength and vigor. He returned to the camp to see the Marauder nation was thriving and booming, seemed like there was a lot to catch up on.. Will the Marauders thrive and live on more with Lilz back? or cripple into what they were when he left again, it all remains to be seen…]]>

while one option would be a pain for all invloved, the other may be a pain for the dev's to code.

my inital idea that the npc's we buy apt's/gh's from would offer a new menu option that would just allow buying of more bulk for said apt/gh.

i agree that these would make it harder for mara's to do, (and i hate to do anything that would give one group an advantage over another) the mara way of life is a harder one and as such would require more risk and more effort to get the same things as civ neutral or civ aligned players.

i would like to simply see the option to buy more bulk, but i thought the more options i offer the dev's the more chance there will be for us to get them.

(also virg, i'm sure there's at least one player in syndi that has an alt that's not full mara, and anyone could make a f2p alt to buy the extra space, after all for a guild they need only be a member of that guild to buy the extra space, cause f2p's can make and own gh's)]]>

the misadventures of lessah and ravenh

chapter 16

so much effort has went into the decoding of these last three scrolls, we have worked tirelessly on them for some time. to our frustrations nothing we had tried had offered us any hope of decoding the final three scrolls. as we have been unwilling to give up on our efforts to decode these scrolls we continued to take every effort to do our work. as the frustrations we all were feeling built up we became more and more desperate in our desire to finish these works we have dedicated ourselves to for all this time. it was becoming a belief that perhaps we lacked the skills to decode these last three scrolls.
several members of the group decided that they would go back to the scrolls we had already decoded in an attempt to try to find clues we might use to decode these final three. at first there was seemingly no help found in this method being pursued by the group. as each of the old scrolls was looked at they were compared to each of the final three, and there was only a tiny fraction of each scroll that related to the final three. as more of the previously decoded scrolls were compared to the final three there were more tiny parts that corresponded to them.
for a time there was no real hope that these tiny parts would offer any help to our effort to decode the final three. after all seventy-nine scrolls were compared to the final three scrolls none had shown anything more then a tiny part of the decoded scrolls matching a tiny portion of the final three. unwilling to give up our effort to decode the final three we in the group decided to have an open discussion about why there could be tiny fragments that matched. an idea was offered that we had all failed to consider until that very moment... perhaps the final three scrolls were the key to the order of the other seventy-nine scrolls.
while we have no idea if this might be true or not, we are going to put the theory to the test. we're going to take each of the final three scrolls and find the matching symbols on the decoded scrolls. then match the order of the decoded scrolls to the order of the symbols on the three final scrolls. it's our hope that we will find the order of the scrolls this way. we feel that if the fragments do indeed start to make sense with this method we will soon after find the correct order that all seventy-nine scrolls go in.
this work should not take much time at all to do and we intend to post another update as soon as the comparisons and matching's are done. we will offer the first of the final three scrolls results as soon as they are completed to the other seventy-nine.]]>

Meeting of the Minds

While unconscious, Lessah felt as though she were having an out-of-body experience. In her dream-like state, she felt as though she were watching herself and Ravenh from above. She watched Ravenh kiss her and tell her he loved her. Eventually, she regained strength and consciousness, and her perspective changed back to normal. She finally opened her eyes to see Ravenh leaning over her with a concerned look. The fresh air of the forest was on her face and she felt strong enough to kneel. Lessah shook her head a bit, trying to snap out of the fog. It was then that she felt a mektoub's trunk swoop over her hair and face.

Ravenh was finally able to smile, seeing Lessah open her eyes, “She’s ok, Moose”, he exhales a sigh of relief, “You’re going to be ok, Lessah.” Ravenh gently wipes the mektoub’s trunk away, “I think we will be safe here. We should just rest for a while.” He continuously scanned the area, looking for any sign of danger, while returning his attention back to Lessah, wanting to make sure she was truly going to be fine.

Lessah looked over at Ravenh and smiled back. “Thanks for getting us out of there, Ravenh…you saved us” she said while she glanced at Moose to see that he was fine. “I think I’ll be ready to go again in a few moments” she said while she reached for Ravenh’s arm, seemingly ready to rise to her feet.

Ravenh took her cue and helped her to her feet, “Let’s go see if that Karavan representative, that we passed going inside, has any water we could have.” He picked up their belongings and repacked Moose’s satchels. Ravenh grabbed the reins and reached for Lessah’s hand, “I think he’s right up…..” at that moment Ravenh paused as he looked to where he thought they would be going and tilted his head, “Ummm, Lessah? I don’t think this is where we went inside.” The environment did look like a forest, but definitely not the same forest.

Lessah looked up the path and squinted. “Huh? It looks the same to me… did we not come out the way we went in?” she asked. Lessah took Ravenh’s hand and the three made their way up to the path, but at the top, there was no Karavan Representative. Lessah looked around at the forest and noted that something was a bit different about it. She then spotted a group of Homins gathered in a circle, not far from where they were. She pointed at them, “look, maybe we can ask those Homins over there where we are. Maybe they have an extra map” she said as the Moose groaned a bit “…and some hay” she added.

After everything they had just been through, Ravenh sure hoped these Homins were peaceful. He squeezed her hand and smiled at her and nodded, “Sounds like our only plan.” It’s difficult for Ravenh to not sound negative about things, especially asking for directions. They approached the group and he raised his hand in greeting, “Hello there. We are lost, can you help us?” He tried to seem friendly and not a threat, knowing though, his hand raised was only inches away from his sword on his back if he needed it.

As they approached the group, Lessah saw Homins from every nation present. They were all seemingly busy, obviously engaged in something important. One Matis male looked up at Ravenh and smiled while the rest continued to discuss something. “Greetings, fellow Matis. You have made it to the Nexus Minor, a rather isolated part of the forest.” Lessah furrowed her brow, not recognizing the name and glanced over at Ravenh who was on guard, busy scanning the situation. Heh, such a warrior. Lessah looked back at the Homin, “I see…well, what are you doing out here?” she asked while standing on her toes, trying to peak over the crowd gathered around a tree stump.

Ravenh let out a loud sigh, “Nexus what?” He throws his hands up in his usual fashion when frustrated and points at the stump, “They are probably lost too, Lessah. They are even arguing over that map, trying to figure it out.” It almost seemed like he growled a little as he started to stomp around, throwing a tantrum of sorts, mumbling choice words under his breath about being lost and never getting home and other typical Ravenh negativities.

The Matis man gestured for Lessah to come to the stump as he shook his head at Ravenh’s behavior. Lessah smirked at Ravenh who apparently needed to blow off some steam before she excitedly made her way over to the stump. On the stump were three scrolls, which appeared to be aged and badly damaged. “These are the last of several scrolls that we have discovered. We have been working tirelessly to uncover their meaning. Although we’ve had some success decoding the others, these three have proven to be the biggest challenge” the Matis man explained. Lessah nodded in response, “but how are these different from the other scrolls you have decoded?” she asked before looking up to spot Ravenh. “Ravenh! You have to come see this!” she sung out.

Ravenh stopped his tantrum when he heard Lessah call out for him, “WHAT?!?” His voice obviously angry. He caught himself and let out a sigh, calming his voice down, “Is it a map? Do we know how to get out of here?” He approached the stump and looked over Lessah’s shoulder to see the three pieces of paper with incoherent scribblings on them. His anger came back, “What is that?” pointing at the papers, “That’s not going to get us home. It’s just a bunch of nonsense.” He stormed off again, stomping about, kicking a random empty basket and proceeding with his mumbling again.

Lessah flinched at Ravenh’s yelling and yet found a smile creeping across her lips. She liked his angry temper. Lessah watched a Matis approach Ravenh so she refocused her attention to the scrolls. The group had presented the rest of the scrolls in their possession, and a quick estimate told Lessah that they had well over fifty. “ After a year, we have been able to decode fragments from all of the scrolls except those last three…but we also do not know what order the fragments go in. They were in much better condition, you see” the Matis man explained. Lessah nodded, now seeing the scrolls they had decoded next to the three they could not decode. Lessah got close to the three on the stump to examine them. This group had been working for a year to decode them, and she didn’t expect to decode them herself now. She backed up, glancing at the decoded ones and looking at the three on the stump. There was some subtle, aesthetic differences between the scrolls, but she assumed they were insignificant.

A Matis male approached Ravenh, holding a bale of hay for their Mektoub. He sat it in front of Moose and just smiled at Ravenh while picking up the basket Ravenh had kicked and setting it back where it belonged, “Could I get you anything sir?” The man was very polite and it caused Ravenh to finally realize he was acting like a child. He let out yet another sigh and just shook his head, “No….thank you.” He watched Moose consume the hay in one motion. He didn’t even think he chewed it. The man smiled and nodded again and turned to walk back to the group. Ravenh was very frustrated with their situation, but noticed how interested Lessah seemed in the scrolls, and considering how dire of a situation they were in earlier and how he almost lost her, he thought maybe this once he could grow up a little and give her some time. He took this opportunity to scan the campsite a bit more thoroughly. It was not a permanent site, but very well constructed and appeared as if these people had been here a while. Ravenh turned and stopped in his tracks. His eyes locked onto something he did not want to see. Before him, waving in the breeze was a Marauders’s banner.

The Matis man watched Lessah as she studied the appearance of the scrolls. “Do you see something? A pattern? Sometimes a fresh pair of eyes can spot an obvious clue…” the man said. Lessah smiled and blushed a bit, “well, it’s silly really, it's superficial. It’s probably nothing,” Lessah said with a shrug. A few members of the group looked up at Lessah, now also curious of what it is she saw. Great Lessah, now you have to tell all these wise scholars, your ‘genius’ observation. “…It just seems to me that the three scrolls on the stump look different from the others. They are smaller, much more aged. The inks even look different…Perhaps they aren’t to be decoded in the same way” Lessah stated with a shrug, feeling stupid.

Ravenh was concerned they had stumbled into a Marauders camp and Lessah was now over there helping them figure out their next war strategy. He turned to go get her when he noticed two more banners, “What the…..?” Karavan, Kami AND Marauders all in the same camp. Ravenh approached Lessah and tugged on her shoulder, “Can I speak with you a moment?” He was trying to not alert the others that he was suspicious of their activities. He leaned in and whispered, “I don’t think we should be here.”

Members of the group stared at Lessah. “Maybe the three scrolls are there to help you understand the order of the others” she added, mostly to fill the silence that followed her last statement. Was she just digging a bigger hole? Proving that she had no idea what the scrolls meant? It was then that she felt a tug on her shoulder and leaned in to hear Ravenh’s whisper. Ravenh’s face was serious and Lessah knew he had discovered something. As she backed away from the group, the scholars returned their attention to the scrolls on the stump. It was as if she had said something that inspired them. Having moved some distance, Lessah turns to Ravenh and asks “what’s wrong?”

Ravenh subtly motions to the three banners, “These aren’t just Karavan scholars here.” His eyebrows raised, “Don’t you think it odd they are conspiring together?” He grabs his backpack and slings it on his arm, “I think it’s time to leave.” At that moment, the same Matis male from earlier approached. Ravenh noticed the necklace around his neck, identifying him as a follower of Jenna. The man handed Ravenh a map of Nexus Minor and pointed at the bottom of the map to another portal, “Try there.” he instructed. Ravenh snatched the map from the man’s hands with force, “How could you?” The man had no idea what Ravenh was talking about. Ravenh points towards the others, “How can you sleep at night knowing you’re helping them?” He finished grabbing their belongings and pulled Moose to his feet, “You disgust me.” He reached for Lessah’s hand, “Come on, Lessah, we’re leaving.”

Lessah’s eyes widened as Ravenh snatched the map from the Matis man. The man just waved his hand dismissively at Ravenh, who to him, had anger management issues. As the man returned to the group, Lessah followed Ravenh quietly, feeling as though he may have overreacted, just a tad. “Maybe it’s a good thing that the factions are coming together…maybe it’s a sign that peace is possible” she said softly. In response, Ravenh just huffed and kept marching onward to the portal.

these are some valid options, it's not too insane for these numbers, i think this would be valid, the cost is there to help curb usage.]]>

Life in the Void seems peaceful, but perhaps that is a delusion crafted from my own ignorance. Or is it denial? The reports speak of marauder activity almost daily across the Staring Ranges, and more than once I glimpsed – and felt – the cold gaze of a Zinuakeen initiate staring at me as I hustle across the lush meadows with my forage and spoils. Not that I blame them – this zo’lin-ko skirt has a bulls-eye painted on that would make even the most forward-thinking Fyros blush. Yet, beyond this amusing thought is the bleakest of prospects… are we losing the war?

The emergence of the kitin was a bittersweet catalyst for hominity’s unification. Yet, the passing generations - their memories ever cushioned by Time's misty shroud - increasingly regard our enmity as that of equals. They clearly do not care to remember the trauma of our most recent origins. Chiang’s efforts and his sortie in Silan are but a thimbleful of caution against the tide of innocent heroism that permeates the younglings. The younglings… who speak of glory and mastery, the bravest of whom weave their enchantments upon the patrols that haunt the Roots. Sailing to meet them, in a tiny scream unfurling from the farthest depths of my mind, is the dreadful premonition that our ancient foe merely slumbers. To what shall it awaken? A land divided or restored?

I have nightmares of the former. Of the latter, one can only hope.

Another amber. This one is quite remarkable; a lustrous piece that has escaped the ravages of time and its rather unceremonious resting place. Brushing aside dirt and root, I hold it up. And the first rays of the morning arc their way over the horizon, piercing it, igniting my hand with a fiery glow. Cufflinks for Ghuiss. Yes, these will do nicely. That old bat could do with a bit more bounce in his step.

I stow my pick and stand. The land is waking. Teeneemai idles nearby; immersed in my thoughts and surrounded by the dark caress of the pre-dawn, I did not hear her soft footsteps. I wave... she waves. A distant soul, but a friendly one.

I smile. The world is awake.]]>

Are you going to implement a different mechanism for password encryption? Are you going to allow us to have longer passwords? Did you notify inactive players via e-mail? In short, if another attack happens and is successful, will you be better prepared?

DK2 support brought it back on my radar. Seems great and definatly usable.
Please keep working on this. Would be much appreciated.

You do know that you are making ryzom being the first VR MMO? :)

Right now i do have a problem though: My GPU (R9 290) is locked to 38 FPS. No matter what details i set. It is like the 75 vsynced FPS get halfed. Headtracking is very choppy like this obviously.
A reset position key would be nice too.

This is definatly worth keeping at though. The "feeling in the world" is just great. I am playing archeage right now but ryzom in VR is much much more spectacular!]]>

this group of homins that claim to be working on the so called lost scrolls likes to try to insight that we are against them with every "report" that they offer the homins of atys. they make grand claims to our statements about the uselessness of what they are doing. they attempt to rally homins to refuse our wisdom on this matter. the long amounts of time that they seam to require to decode these "fragments" change with each of their own reports. why, we ask, is it that they don't have a more efficient and constraint timeline for this supposed work they are doing. over and over they are very clear that they have no idea what order these various blocks of alleged text are to go in. what point is there to all the effort they've put into everything they claim to have done if that key point has not been discovered and has not been the main focus of their works.
honestly after a full year of work they could only "decode" ten out of thirteen of these scrolls. out of that year of work they openly share that they have spent a full season of effort on just three of the scrolls. now at this point they are claiming that their full efforts will work on these final three scrolls before they even attempt to find the order that the fragments go in. did they not spend a full seasons worth of time already working on those three scrolls what more can they do or find? why also would whoever supposedly wrote these put only single words on a scroll, and in a code as this group claims? how long will they draw this out, and how much more of every homins time will they waste with their claims and stories? what excuses will they give for the time they take to "work" on the remaining three scrolls? will they use claims of the condition of the scrolls as they have already, or will it be the massive complexity of the code they're wrote in?
we in power feel that all we're going to find in the end from this group is more reasons why things are not working in their intrust. once more we ask the homins of atys to avoid giving any merit to anything that the group of homins offer the homins of atys. it's still our view that this is simply an effort to distract the homins of atys from something far more important, what however that could be we are not sure, but with every minute we are forced to deal with this subject another is being neglected.]]>

At one time, a very very long time ago, some clever homin wrote a utility that could export the markers from the config file and then load a new set of markers. This, of course, started a spate of map sharing which Nevrax quashed (as if homins wouldn't sit down together and share such things) and the utility vanished. I'm not sure if Nevrax changed the formatting/encoding of the icfg file to prevent this happening again or if it's simply remained taboo since then.
It is possible, the client does not complain at all about one character's interface.icfg replacing another's.

The marauding Fyros had certainly lost his head. Either that, or he was testing her. No traitor was stupid enough to reveal his guilt that way... or was there one? Nonetheless, the tired, sincere eyes of the Fyros were easy to bring back to her mind. She wasn't under the impression he was lying, but such words were... disquieting.

Nizyros : Instead of killing everything in sight, we should get help from the neutrals so we can overcome the Powers. As long as I live, you won't hurt Pom!

-Grizabella : The years have made you crazy, leader of the Forces Obscures.

-Nizyros : The years have turned me into a realist... you don't know it yet. You just came by.

He kept on talking, even bringing into question the legitimacy of the pink haired rebel among them. She had kept her blood cold all along, but that was too much.

-Nizyros : I say the truth. Sorry for my bluntness, but I'm getting old.

-Grizabella : You're obviously old. You verge onto senility.

-Nizyros : You don't even know why you became a marauder!

The Tryker wasn't listening anymore. She was calm again and was intent on making him lose his temper. She came close to him, sliding an arm around his waist, a hand in his hair, and whispered : Your ramblings will kill you, old Fyros...
She smiled and kissed him on the forehead.

-Grizabella : You can't stop me. Accept it.

The homin scowled and answered : Don't forget who I am!]]>

- Su HP y rango de ataque serán reducidos;
- Serán colocados dentro de las ciudades, para proteger el interior (¡Y los bares!), pero sin interactuar con las cercanías de las entradas de las ciudades;

We wish you to have a great playing time on Atys,

~Perla’s Journal Entry: Tria, Pluvia 21, 4th AC 2579~

The nightmares have continued. The Rangers are always in my dreams in some form or another, and the outcome of my parents is always the same - I am separated from them in the chaos. In my dreams the Rangers helped people get to the safe zone, but the Oasis was too small to hold everyone, and as the moments pass more and more homins filled the sacred place. That’s when the mysterious figure, Elias, arrived and opened the Rainbow, the Rainbow that took us to the The Place With No Name.

But they aren't just dreams, I've realized. I know now that the dreams really happened. I had forgotten, but now I remember...

~Perla’s Exodus 2562 (Part 2): The Place With No Name~

The call for reinforcements had gone out and it was Elias Tryton who finally showed up to assist. A crowd had gathered around the Rainbow. People were stepping through and disappearing. Rangers handled crowd control, and thankfully, everyone followed orders without trouble.

I patted the side of the rainbow-portal, I was curious, and it forcibly pulled me forward but I half stumbled back. I didn't want to go through yet, not without my parents. I regained my footing, and paused and looked for my parent in the surroundings. There was enough noise from the crowd, and general shouting of orders and people calling for their loved ones that I decided against adding to the noise by calling out for my parents. Instead, I methodically scan every Tryker face that walked through the rainbow.

“Hey!” a boy no older than me called out to me, but I didn't respond.

He moved into my line of vision, I was surprised to see tears in his eyes, he looked anything but alright.

“Have you seen my Mom?” Pyto asked me.

“No,” I admitted.

He turned around and I watched him wandering in circles, as he too searched for his parents, looking increasingly confused. I stepped forward decisively, grabbed the boy’s right wrist, and walked him back to where I was standing.

“We can watch for our parents from here, when they reach the rainbow they will see us.” I said as I walked him over. The moment I said it, he became remarkably placid, and grabbed my hand tightly.

He stayed quiet as I continued to lookout for my parents, our parents, though I had no idea what his parents looked like, until finally, several agonizingly long seconds later, his mother emerged from the crowd.

The boy broke loose from my hand and ran forward embracing his mother. She held him tightly, as if for the first time in a long time, as if the very wind would carried him off if she let go. The boy whispered something in her ear and she raised her head to look at me.

I couldn't hide my emotions, tears wet my eyes, and I raised my hands to my mouth to cover the painful cry forming at my throat. In her eyes she told me what I refused to believe. They both walked towards me and embraced me, and I lost it. I knew then this was it, and before she said the words I knew I had to go with them.

The final call was announced. The rainbow was closing. Without looking back I enter the rainbow. I enter The Place With No Name, the safe haven where no kitin has ever set foot. But the most challenging facet of the aftermath had begun for me - and its the memory of my childhood that I do remember, which I now commit to pen and paper so that I never forget.

In the days that followed I never felt safe; separated from my parents and anyone I know, sleeping next to strangers, being moved around from one location to the next against my will. But what does a seven-year-old child know about safety. All I knew for sure was that I was alone in the world.

Each morning I’d rise expecting to wake-up next to my parents only to be disappointed. I’d wait and wait in vain for them to come and find me, and when the night hours became to heavy to stay awake I’d cry myself to sleep missing them terribly. Only to relive the same fate the next day after.

I supposed the memory of my parents begun to fade when I was shown kindness by Pyto and his mother. And it took the time of almost nine months for me to completely forget. Time moved on and I along with it. But I had no real concept of time - I only knew life became easier. I joined other children to play, I had adults who looked after me, and I was, I supposed, happy.

We have the capacity to build strong bonds with the people closest to us that gives one boundless hope, bonds that provide safety, unparalleled love, and even loyalty. Yes, loyalty, I believe loyalty is the bond that comes first, the loyalty of a husband to his wife, the loyalty of a parent to their children, the loyalty of friendships that can never be broken even if years apart. I learned the meaning of loyalty during my years of refuge. I learned it so well I can tell who of my friends will expect it of me and who will abuse it when I give it…

Ever since I remembered it was Elias Tryton who opened the Rainbow, I can’t get him out of my head. Who is this homin? What knowledge does he have about the Powers, and the origins of hominity? Why is he an outcast? Why is the man who has saved hominity twice from Kitin attacks hiding in the shadows?

Almost obsessively I’ve begun to search the public records for any and all information on Elias Tryton and what I’ve discovered has truly shocked me. Though I still need to verify what I’ve found, he has appeared throughout our history consistently:

Elias first appeared to a select few as an apparition during the First Great Swarming (2481) - he gave them direction and helped them take refuge in the Prime Roots away from the kitin onslaughts. The elders believed he was a messenger of mercy sent by Jena. Though the scriptures of those times have been lost - it was the sages, the elders, who founded the Guild of Elias with other homin races to keep his memory alive.

The Trykers believe that Elias is none other than the holy father, the husband of Jena. But this belief was concocted by the “select few” on the teachings that it takes two to create a homin life, and the Tryker utopian dreams elevated Elias to the status of divinity.

But the Karavan called them a sect that stood against the church of Jena - Karavan followers are prohibited from joining the Guild of Elias. The Karavan see Elias as a destabilizing factor, one who could turn many homins away from the church of Jena. The Karavan referred to Elias Tryton as a fallen prophet corrupted by the Dragon. They blame Elias for the First Great Swarming, going as far as stating, “He is the one behind the Great Swarming”.

The Trykers and the Matis nations are devoted followers of the Karavan, and following Karavan Law, have banished the Guild of Elias from their lands. During the reign of Jinovitch (2505), the persecution of members of the guild begun, and some were condemned for heresy against Jena and burnt alive. Since then the guild has remain in secrecy, working in the shadows.

In 2528 the Guild of Elias re-emerge: sightings of members of this mysterious group were seen in the cities. They were quickly hunted down by Karavan followers, who called them dangerous heretics. But surprisingly, Kami worshipers intervened. What followed were rumors of a secret meeting, where members of the guild and speaking on behalf of Elias, announced the coming of Jena. They claimed Jena would arrive on Atys with her legions to destroy Ma-Duk and the Kamis. The alarming news onset the start of the holy war between the Powers. (the Temple Wars 2530-2531)

The Karavan didn't deny the intentions of Jena, and revealed to the homins that the true nature of Ma-Duk was to consume the vital force of the homins to enable him to survive the Goo. The Kamis call for the defense of the planet against Jena and her supporters, stating Jena only brought death and servitude. The four sovereign nations prepared, and quickly ask the many formed guilds to declared their alliances, and to join under the banner of Kami or Karavan to support the coming war. But the guild of Elias asked homins to unite and stand as one against what was coming.

As I read on, the public records that recount these events, there was no documentation that confirmed Jena’s arrival on Atys. But the fact that the Karavan didn't deny Jena’s intentions reveals that the Guild of Elias was telling the truth. What troubled me, or rather, what I’m questioning, is how was Elias aware of this information? Could he have connections within the Karavan world, secret followers of Elias within the Karavan ranks that secretly passed on this knowledge? And if so, could there be a division of ideology among the Karavan Disciples - one side believing in the unity of all homin races without Kami or Karavan interference, opposing the other side that has rooted itself deep within homin culture. Or, perhaps the most simple explanation, that as a fallen prophet he has always been aware of Jena’s intentions waiting for the right time in history to reveal Jena’s plan.

These questions were what drove me to keep on searching for answers. Finally, buried in some small print, I found the words of Elias Tryton as read by Syndix. The exact date of this speech isn't clear, but I believe it was in the year 2531. The message was delivered at Loria’s Rise in Fairhaven. Though I can’t confirm if this is an accurate account of the message, nor can I confirm if the message was written by Elias himself. (I wonder, are there homins still alive today who might have attended?)

I read the speech in it’s entirety. I studied it. In the message he didn't strike me as someone seeking to be a martyr, perhaps this is clear and the reason why he only seems to come out of the shadows when we need him the most, to avoid this false idolization. I don’t believe he is a holy being nor the husband of Jena, this rumor was started by the elders who tried to elevate him into a divine being only because he came from the stars. And though he was an inspired teacher and former proclaimer of the will of Jena, for reasons yet unclear to hominkind has chosen to follow his own path. A path that directly affects us all, for he has change the fate of hominkind more than once. Perhaps out of some personal guilt, if there is truth that he is behind the events of the First Great Swarming.

In his message Elias revealed plenty about his intentions, he clearly opposes both the Kami and the Karavan, and speaks with strong beliefs in the unity and freedom of homins. Had he not reveal Jena’s intentions, we may have been living in a very different world today, the hidden agenda of the Powers may have come to fruition. What is the agenda? Well, the Powers themselves revealed them; the Karavan say Ma-Duk wants to claim homin’s essence so that he can survive the Goo, and the Kamis say Jena only brings death and wants to subjugate homins, so that they can take the planet’s resources and drain it of all its substance. Elias brings awareness so that hominkind can understand their position in the universe, that homins are the balance between these two opposing powers, and that the path to freedom can only be obtain when WE control our own destiny and the future of Atys.]]>

A foot came into view as Jazzy stepped forward with a rye smile on his face. Virg knew he didn't have much time, or else he risked capture. He reached out and clenched his fist squeezing a drop of blood into the sand, quietly whispering the words, "I embrace my punishment and thank you for your gift Melkiar". With that, thick black tendrils of smoke curled out of the sandy beach, entwining and enveloping him.

Light flared around him and he found himself standing just outside Fairhaven, near the Kami teleporter. He felt a sudden rush and a surge of strength as Cramer, the exceedingly tall Zorai, casually swiped his right hand towards him, instantly healing him. The Syndicate members strode forward purposefully towards Fairhaven. With the army currently in Avendale their task would be a lot simpler and more subtle.

Jirana Cevino and Senn Mac'Carn were once again, as they always did, arguing. The local homins of Fairhaven were still in complete disbelief that after all this time Jarana and Senn still stood next to each other, each refusing to move from their favorite spot. Today they were arguing about the finer details of their crafting plans, particularly concerning vedice weapons. Jirana yelled out in frustration "Eugghhh! You half wit fool! In fact you completely lack any wit what so ever! Can you not see that by rubbing the vedice sap from left to right, the sword is made stronger! Rubbing right then left just simply does not." He cut of sharply as a shadow loomed over them both, silhouetted by the sun. As they peered closer the shadow moved to one side momentarily blinding both crafters as the sun flared in their eyes. Once they readjusted to the light what they saw froze them in their place. A tall homin, most definately Zorai, stood at the forefront of a group dressed in white Erouk'an armour. They recognized the group of marauders instantly, all armed to the teeth. They glanced around for the guards and found none. This group, Syndicate as they referred to themselves, had been responsible for many attacks on Fairhaven recently. A very short homin stepped forward and took off his Klam helmet and spoke with a grin on his face, "Lets have a little chat shall we".

Senn watched the marauders leave and turned to Jirana with a worried look on his face, "What are we going to do? They just strolled in here! Where were the guards!?". Jirana seemed lost for words but eventually spoke in a small whisper and muttered, "I think we should teach them what they want to know. Hopefully they will get their own teachers soon enough and then will leave us be".

[OC] This RP post was written with the hope that until the marauder camp gets a big trepan and tree bore crafters, that the Fairhaven crafters fame requirement should be lowered to allow us access to buy the OP -duk and -jen plans. It should hopefully be an easy change to implement.]]>

- Mission rewards may be changed during the event if needed

OOC: I would suggest that 6 / 12 / ?? Faction Points is simply not enough to provide a motive to participate in these missions.]]>

More roleplay events such as that are needed in the game but a bit of planning and communication is required otherwise people may not react in the way that you want.

Anyways a good learning experience hopefully and if anyone is interested in setting up an event involving marauders feel free to send me a tell/mail.]]>
<![CDATA[Celestai]]> http://app.ryzom.com/app_forum/index.php?page=topic/view/21003/1#142492 Mon, 08 Sep 2014 21:15:14 +0000 Guild Registry (arispotle) http://app.ryzom.com/app_forum/index.php?page=post/view/142492
Celestai is a Kami-Zorai guild, with a guildhouse in Zora.

Celestai is pro-pvp and anti-marauder, rising out of the ashes of the now-defunct Asylum guild. If you don't like pvp, you are not required to take part, although we will ask you to help defend on outposts and at season changes if you can, because the mats we get at season changes and the mats generated by the outposts we defend are what we use to make that amazing gear that everybody wants.

We are recruiting players who are close to mastering or who have mastered one or more skills. If you're close to mastering and want to join us, we'll help you get your master(s) too. While heals, nukes and 2h axe are very important skills for some of the more structured fights such as Pei-Ruz the Rotten, we're also interested in you if you want to master or have mastered digging and/or crafts, or if you chose something else for your master as well.

We are strongly Kami and require that our members declare Kami as soon as possible after being guilded, if not before. We will ask you to prove it some time after you've guilded with us. We do not accept members who are marauders in name only for the purpose of teleports or any other kind of marauder unless you've done the work to get back into Ma-Duk's good graces. If you're interested in joining us but you need a hand coming back to Ma-Duk, we can help there too.

We are also a zorai guild, but do not require our members to take zorai citizenship, if you would prefer to stay neutral for civic faction.

While we welcome members of all nationalities, members of Celestai must be able to speak either French or English well enough to understand its members and to be understood by them. This is very important for hunting together and just for day-to-day relations in guild. Some of us speak English, some French and some both.

If you are interested in joining Celestai on your main, please contact Emilie (me), Xtarsia or Algouesnou for further details.]]>
