Jen-Lai suggested that such a notice-board shall be established so that representatives from the amber-cities can inform the public about events and the like.

Some cities already had permanently set sign-boards before the second Great Swarming as a custom over many, many Atys-years. There have been notice-boards at the main-entrances of all 4 capitals on Atys for instance, presenting the most important informations about the political systems of the according Nations, about political active guilds/homins, and also pointing out a number of important laws to be observed - like the prohibition of showing weapons during official Assemblies in Zora or the ban of goo-infested items and munition back in those times.]]>

if there's 1 pve reward there should be an equal pvp reward, thus making a fair balance between the two play styles.

Further more making it the players choice which path to take, and regardless of the path chosen having rewards equal to the path not chosen.

it's not about "i like this" or "i like that", it's about balance between the two.

i don't care what the method of balance is, just that there should be BALANCE in the first place.

that would put ryzom back on the radar of MMO's, giving both types of play equal if different rewards.

why not make a toon that sells sup mat's pve players can dig/hunt to pvp players using pvp points? then pvp players can pvp to get the mats other players get from pve. that would offer a sort of balance i'm speaking of.

in the end, there is not a balance between pvp and pve, one simply has more rewards then the other right now, that's the issue i think, that the tables are not balanced between the two play styles.

sorry if this doesn't fit exactly what the idea of the thread is, but to me this is the base idea of everything being spoke of. (and remember i'm a PvE player trying to help the PvP players get more of what i can get with my play style WITHOUT having to choose my play style to get them.)]]>

However, how empty they are if not the right thought is behind it.

But Still Wyler stood for them all - with his whole heart and reason.

Did he not fight for freedom?
He stood at Yrkanis' side to release our country from the chains of Jinovitch.
With his last breath of life he signed for the liberty of faith.

Equality ... It was Still Wyler which wrote the basis of the Charta of Fundamental Rights.
And it was he who made sure that there is no more slavery on Atys.

Sharing ... Generously he shared his wisdom with all nations, while he respected the borders which they own.

Still Wyler had great qualities, and who follows in his heels has to fill in very big boots - a heavy burden and a great inheritance.

Since that for which he stood for is something for which we all should strive:

To stand loyally to his faith ...
... and faithfully to his people;
To love the friend...
... and to face honourably the enemy.

This is an example not only for Trykers, but for us all.

I bow to a great Homin.

(OOC: This stand-up tribute to Still Wyler was given by Salazar at Wyler's funeral, after a walk through the Lakelands in his memory. All attending shared short thoughts or tributes, including Yrkanis, Mabreka, and Dexton. I posted this transcription on April 13th, 2006.

Avendale had been built close to one of the numerous natural barriers in the country, great for protection, but also one that offered a splendid view to those who could climb it.

Ki’gan was sitting there, observing the city, sunk in a deep silence. In his mind, time was racing at an incredible speed while he was endlessly following every single movement of the inhabitants, especially those of the MacFay clan. Few people knew this quiet, patient face of the powerfull warrior. A hunter concentrating on his prey, he kept on waiting…

The day seemed to be uneventful. The Trykers were moving along the bridges and quays of the city, loud laughters arose from the bar. Suddenly, a homina appeared around the Karavan porter. She was a MacFay, he knew. She slowly walked up to the building where their guild hall was and entered.

Hidden in the heights, the Zoraï was intensely watching the entry. It was unlikely the prisonner would show himself, but… moments later, three people came out of the building. Two more Trykers were with the homina. Ki’gan opened his eyes wide, electrified by the sight. It was him. It was his only chance to do it.

Leaving the torpor in which he was, he just jumped down the cliff, sinking his sword in the bark to slow down his fall. Landing on the sand, he ran to the Halls.

He pushed many people around, but his path didn’t cross any guards’. He was quickly getting closer. Even before the Trykers were aware he was there, Ki’gan sprang from a bridge and sank a dagger in the prisonner’s brains. Something poped inside his head while the slain body was crumbling under the much heavier weight of the one who had done the deed.

Consumating his murder with an intense rapture, Ki’gan rose up slowly, cracking some more bones as he claimed his blade back from the skull of his victim. The weapon was smoking in a strange fashion.

« Done! » he screamed in an exultant shout.

The two MacFay screamed and the bravest of the two tried to attack him with some powerfull sorcery. He quickly rooted her into the ground.

« Don’t hurt yourself, child, you’d better stop that! » he mocked her.

« I’ve been waiting on this moment for days. You let him out. You were not careful enough. You can tell Luth he lost… »

The hominas charged him, together this time, but he evaded them effortlessly. He threw the poisonned dagger at the feet of one of the knocked out bodies.

« Keep the dead body and the knife. I’ll see you soon. »

Seconds later, the guards were there, but it was too late. Ba’kyl was long dead and his murderer was far away…]]>

Sui stared at the complete failure he held in his hands. He had made a simple, but disastrous, mistake that resulted in the loss of the fragile jeweling tool and materials. A neophyte mistake he had learned to avoid long ago.

Back in the refugee camps, Sui had befriended a woman who had taught him how to avoid simple crafting mistakes that degraded the end product. Her tutelage had helped him to get to a new level in his crafting abilities, as well as helping him to understand intricate facets to many of the skills he learned in the camps. Sophy had become a pillar to Suibom's life, teaching him much about the mainland and the need for homins to be prepared for their journey. Unfortunately, like his sister Val, Sophy was lost to the kitin invasions on the refugee camps.

Sui reached in his bag and shuffled around until his hand clasped a small hammer. He pulled out the unused jewler tool and began to work on more amber and seed. The amber glinted in the freshly risen sun, sending small reflections in all directions. The slightly acrid smell of fresh seed permeated the air from all the work. Sui was moving automatically, only slightly more than half conscious of what he was doing; burning the intricate, but repetitive, work into muscle memory.

Over time Sui found fewer and fewer refugees that had come to the mainland from his home camps. He began to hear of kitin invasions on refugee camps of other races as well. Each story was more withering than the last. The destruction of the camps was complete, there was nothing left in those areas.

No one had any information about Val or Sophy. Eventually, there were no more stories of the camps at all. Sui lost hope; he had fought kitin with the Dragonblades, he knew the destruction they could cause. He knew the singularity of their focus on the eradication of homins. He couldn't imagine what it would be like to encounter waves of the beasts swarming at him.

The thought brought another memory forward. A dream that his sister had told him about shortly before his departure to the mainland. She told him that she had dreamt of Jena and Ma-Duk, both consuming hominity in their own way. She also dreamt of a man called Elias. She dreamt of her father as well. But her dream ended with the kitin. They had swarmed the planet and destroyed everything in their path. No homin trace was left.

Val's dreams were often difficult to decipher properly, but they were rarely wrong – at least, as far as Sui had ever encountered. The kitin raid on the camps, that one seemed obvious now. Jena and Ma-Duk, Sui had thought that part of the dream was about the coming war he continued to hear rumors about, persisting in the constant static of undertoned conversations that echoed off every surface it seemed; the day of judgment. But he began to think that war would not materialize any time soon, if at all. If Jena and Ma-Duk represented something else, it was not something he could understand yet. Elias, Sui was not sure who that was or what he had to do with the rest of the dream. And then there was her father.

Val's father, Petrov Azini, adopted Sui when he was very young, before Valeriana had been born. The story that Sui had come to learn was that Azini was an honored Matis warrior that helped to forge the Matis refugee camps. He helped to train refugees so that they would better be able to protect themselves when they reintegrated into life on the newly reachable mainlands.

He was also a man with a ferocious temper and the leader of a group of Matis that viciously raided a tribe of renegades who had set up a sprawling camp near the refugee territory.

A refugee scout determined that the renegades were slave traders that had been abducting refugees from the camps. They were preparing to take the abducted refugees to another land and sell them off, or worse. When the news got back to Azini's group, rage flowed through the Matis and they assaulted the renegade encampment with a blazing brutality that took the renegades off guard. The tribe was destroyed swiftly, allowing no mercy for the slave traders. Aside from a handful that escaped, they were all killed in battle or executed.

During a final sweep of the area, searching for any renegade bodies that might still be breating and needing to be separated from their corrupted souls, Azini heard a small, soft sound behind the dangling flap of a tent that was still partially upright. He shifted the flap over with the blade of his sword, his grip tightening and ready to bury the blade into whatever lay beyond.

He was greeted by a small basket covered with soft blankets and tucked gently into the edge of the tent. Small eyes peered into his from inside the basket as a tiny hand reached out to the blade, inquisitively. The Matis baby was mostly quiet, making occasional soft cooing noises and looking around at his surroundings.

Azini looked at the child and his legs wavered, rage flowed away from him like a demon released. He fell to his knees before the small child and gently took the tiny homin into his arms. Holding the baby close, he looked around at the carnage that his group had inflicted on the tribe. He never meant for his skills to end the lives of so many homins in such a simple, quick tailspin of rage and hate; even homins as wicked as these lost souls. Azini claimed the baby as his own, a small sliver of redemption for his personal sin. He rescued Sui from the tribe and adopted him.

When Val was still sucking on the teat of her wet nurse, Azini followed a calling to the mainland to serve for his king, Yrkanis. He left his children in the care of their tutor and nanny. Then, on one very sad day early in his life, Suibom learned that his adoptive father had been killed in battle. He was told that it was a glorious battle and Azini died a hero.

As Sui grew up, he naturally began to ask questions about Azini. As his sister grew from a baby he would tell her fabulous stories of their father and he wanted those stories to be true. However, the leaders of Rosilio, the people that Sui had thought were friends of his father, only quieted him when he asked about their father's journey to the mainland and his heroic battle. Over time they systematically ignored his queries and worked to eradicate Azini's memory. Eventually the name of Azini had disappeared from the camps; their father had become a figment of the mind to most.

The memory continued to lived strong in the two children, though. Sui became resolute that he would find out what happened their father. He would join a guild on the mainland and find out why the elders of his camp tried to erase Azini.

Sui reached absentmindedly into his sack to gather more amber and seeds for another necklace, but his fingers only found the walls of the sack. He was out of materials for the jewelry. The realization crept into his mind enough to forced the weave of memories to unravel like a flower opening to the sun. The first layer to unravel was the memory of childhood and their father. Then Val's dream peeled back. Finally Sui was left on the Streets of Yrkanis, the memories of his time with the Dragonblades and coming to terms with the loss of his sister and friend.

On that day, long ago, Sui decided he would discover what happened to their father. He would find the truth for Valeriana, so that she could rest in peace knowing that her father was a great man to the end.

On this day, enshrouded in daydream memories, Sui broke away enough to decide he needed to gather more materials for his creations. He gathered up his bag, switched his jeweler tool for a harvesting pick, stood up and stretched. The memories still floated in the back of his mind as he soaked in the warmth of the morning sun.

Mornings like this were a blessing and a curse. It helped him to piece together his life, but it absorbed him fully. When the stream of memories stopped bombarding his mind's eye, they would inevitably shrink back into the shadows. It was like trying to hold onto water.

To be continued...]]>

Lerya was appointed Pyr akenos by Dios Apotheps.

Termites project
Patriot Geyos informed the assembly that experiments are going quite well and that he is now able to fully explain the termite mound cycles. He also adressed Kachina's concerns about experiments containment.

Foreign relations
The Matis people decided to withdraw their ambassadors from the Empire. The akenak assembly did not wished to act in reply.

akenak uniform
Some akenak, supported by celiakos, explained that they would like that the akenak uniform be worn by all akenak during assemblies. Akenak Malin and Stiara opposed this, and after a long debate it was proposed that they would discuss it further with their local assembly. It was also proposed that the uniform composition could eventually by changed.

Assemblies calendar
Akenak Bardor made a proposition to adopt a 1 / 1 alternation between local and national assemblies (as opposed to 2 / 1 currently). The goal is to avoid dismissing some local assemblies due to lack of participants, and have more regular meetings between the Fyros cities. The proposition was unanimously approved.

Pyr market

Assembly location
The current assembly room arrangement was judged inappropriate by some akenak, and it was decided that the next assembly would be moved to the Agora.

Atreus investigation
Akenak Icus said he met the mysterious homin and that in fact he is not marauder, and not himself a trytonnist. He did not wished to say more for now.

<![CDATA[Server Upgrade and Migration]]> http://app.ryzom.com/app_forum/index.php?page=topic/view/17413/1#116432 Wed, 12 Jun 2013 22:35:04 +0000 Official News (arispotle) http://app.ryzom.com/app_forum/index.php?page=post/view/116432
Since Wednesday, June 5, you may have noticed some changes and disruptions in the services relating to Ryzom.

We are performing a gradual migration of the various elements needed to play (Database, Web, Chat CEB, game servers, etc..) to new, more efficient servers.

In the first phase, on Wednesday, June 5, we migrated the MySql database. That's why the server reboot took longer than usual. The chat servers were also moved at the same time.

During the second phase, Tuesday, June 11, we successfully migrated all web services (www.ryzom.com, app.ryzom.com, api.ryzom.com, etc ...).
The transition of the servers caused some minor disruptions to the game, this was reflected by a temporary interruption (24 hours maximum) of the many services related to the WebIG, due to an unavoidable propagation delay of DNS (update addresses app.ryzom.com/api.ryzom.com pointing to the correct server).

Everything should now be back to normal. However, should any problems still persist we will put every effort into fixing them quickly.

The next step, which the date will be communicated later, will be a full migration of the game server services to 64-bit Linux.

The purpose of this reinstall is to improve the server memory management and general performance, as well as to reduce the frequency of random system crashes.

This operation will last for a whole day and require many steps, including backup, formatting, OS reinstallation, Ryzom reinstallation, backup restoration, services relaunch, tests, and finally making available to players.
Considering the complexity of the whole process, the time for the reopening of the server may be only very approximate.

We wish a good gaming on Atys and hope to update you on the migration date as it comes to hand.

The Ryzom Team.

Note: If you notice errors or link redirection problems on your browser, try to clear the cache and restart. If the problem persists, do not hesitate to contact a CSR by the usual means (in game, ticket or by mail).]]>

And to reiterate your tl;dr comment: *nothing* is going to keep friends who are playing toons of opposite alignment from collaborating unless a game mechanism is set up to prevent it.

And it would impinge on the spirit of ryzom to do too much of this, there's already restricitons on who may guild as a game mechanic, this would limit players freedom, which is not something ryzom is known for.]]>

Even before the beginning of the Akabaho-Ban, an inappropriate presence was drawing attention : a zorai, wearing coat of arms from the Clan de la Sève Noire, notorious marauder clan of sinister reputation.
Homins were upset by his presence, though with no one daring take arms to repel him. But the awakened Fey-lin semed to have other projects for him ... He then was tolerated during the ceremony.
The Sage Sorrow (aka Supplice in french) finally came.

Feylin : Do we wait for someone else Tseu-ito ?
Supplice : Yes ... the spirits
Kigan stare at Denakyo.
Denakyo throw an eye behind her, looking at Kigan with the other eye, uneased.
Riditch look at the sky and pray for another homin to join the assembly, coming exactly from the sky.
Supplice : From the Kamis, from our memories ....
Paolen whispers : Awakened Fey-Lin Liang is trying to broing this homin back to the Path.
Supplice look at the né-kwai homins
Supplice : I understood...
Riditch : sil ?
Riditch : Sorry... yes ?
Supplice : This ceremony requires that we leave our shoes, even non zorai peoples.
Riditch complies
Kiwalie remove her boots
Supplice : otherwise, the spirits will stay hidden.
Kiwalie : the snow is cold *shivers*
Supplice is grateful
Riditch removes his boots and note with discontent that the soil is very cold
Bardor hesitate during a moment
Shaakya is already used to walk with naked feet and has nothing to removeSupplice turn round and points at the bar
Supplice : But it's not forbidden to warm up
Osquallo removes his boots.
Riditch dit : Jena, the soil is so cold !!

Le Sage went to the bar of Jen-Laï and brought back "beverages for the inside and potions to massage feets".

The homins started up to walk until an altar close to the city. On the road, animals followed them, red izams and fat mektoubs. The spirits were already whispering at the ears of some peoples .... The homins gathered in front of the altar, silent, and Fey-lin began with the ceremony.
Feylin : I will now pray, Laï-Poko will translate for you
Supplice stays apart, in respect for the emotion of the homins
Supplice meditate to amplify the prayers
prayer
Feylin : Kami, talaozu'o kai-ho,
Laipoko : Kami, keepers of the jungle
Feylin : Kami, liu'o fuuho'o kya-ho,
Laipoko dit : Kami, guide of our peuple
Feylin : Kyo wang liu'o mayu-zi akaba :
Laipoko : The void entered in our hearts :
Feylin : Boo, aka kitin'i
Laipoko : Fear, because of kitins
Feylin : Déna oko aribini'i, akaba ké
Laipoko : Sadness for friends now lost
Feylin : Kai'bini, wang-sek liu.
Laipoko : Please, come to us
Feylin : Nékyo liu'o mayu-zi o an y hai.
Laipoko : Fill our heart with peace and harmony.
Feylin : Ochi kami no.
Laipoko : So be the will of Kami.
Denakyo dit : Ochi kami no.
Laipoko dit : Ochi kami no

During the prayer, kamic lights were bliking, and at the last word, a black Kami appeared in front of everyone, on the left side of the altar

Riditch just nods at the end of the prayer
Mindae : Ochi kami & Jena
Kiwalie thinks at her friends
Feylin looks at the Kami, happy of the appearance
Shaakya lowers her head, holding back tears.
Feylin : The time has come to pray for our lost persons
Kigan stare at the kami.
Supplice don't need to open his eyes, he felt the presence of the Kami
prayer
Feylin : Liu aribini'i akaba,
Laipoko : You were friends,
Feylin : Liu hozu'i akaba,
Laipoko : You were parents,
Feylin : Liu akaba ké.
Laipoko : Now you're no more.
Feylin : Liu'o qi-zi wang o Ma'Qi-Zi,
Laipoko : Your sap merged with the Sap,
Feylin : Liu'o shi wang o Ma-Duk,
Laipoko : Your vital energy merged with Ma-Duk,
Feylin : Ma-Duk wang o Ma'Tal akaba.
Laipoko : Ma-Duk who merged with Atys.
Feylin : Niu hiro-gan Ma-duk, niu hiro-gan liu no.
Laipoko : We honor you as we honor Ma-Duk.
Feylin : Niu zo'kai Ma'Tal, niu zo'kai liu ayumé no.
Laipoko : We will protect you as we will protect Atys.
Feylin : Liu'o zhongyum hya o niu,
Laipoko : Your memory is with us,
Feylin : Kéwangé niu wang o liu ayumé.
Laipoko : Until we will join you.
Feylin : Ochi Kami no.
Laipoko : So be the will of the Kami. Ochi Kami no.

Denakyo cries silently : Ochi... kami no...
Shaakya let her tears flow, thinking about her lost cousin
Feylin breath deeply, marking a silence
Mindae remembers
Riditch Think about so much lost homins that he don't know which one to begin with for a prayer in their memory
Feylin : Now, let's evoke the memory of our lost peoples from Jen-Laï
Kiwalie close her tear-full eyes
Feylin : One by one, you can come and pronounce a tribute to whoever you wish.
Feylin look if someone wants to begin
Paolen prays.
Paolen's prayer
Jena Laï'o Mi
Waki, niu'o hozu'i
Kami Gan-sek niu
Jena, mother of Light
Our close familiy went away
Kami feel us !

Jena Hai'o Mi
Jula'i taki roku
Kami Liang-sek niu
Jena, mother of Harmony
Tears are singing
Kami listen to us !

Ô Ma'Tal'o Mi
Niu li'sen réh'kéan
Kami Kai-sek niu
O mother of the Bark
We meditate in this winter
Kami look at us !

Paolen put down a book at the base of the altar.
Mindae take her turn to move forward, and put down a sketch.
Kiwalie look at the Altar, shaking her head with sadness.
Kami look deeply each homin, seeming to sound their soul.
Shaakya look at the light pearls elevating to the sky

Riditch : Deles silam Homins
Riditch : I won't pray... neither Jena or the Kamis
Riditch : Just evoke the memories of homins who disapeared too early
Riditch : Here, in the jungle, I knew homins who were dear to me too...
Riditch : The Awakened Ki'atal and her family
A soft breeze seems to envelop the homins.
Riditch : The Awakened Kaikyo... a homin full of good sense and wisdom
Feylin holds her hands tight
Riditch : Kiriga.... completely lost because of his madness
Riditch : So many other Zorais that I could have known and who disapeared under Kitin hordes
Riditch : But I wish to evoke too the memory of members of House Aquilon who gave their lives to save others
Paolen nods with her mask.
Riditch : The memory of the Sharukos... as surprising as it may seem ... he was a honorful homin
Riditch : It was a honor to fight besides him.... (translator's note : this is related to the death of Dexton during the 2nd Exodus on Aniro)
Kigan jumped hearing the name of Kiriga.
Riditch : But too... my Karan... called back too early to the goddess...
Riditch : Not forgeting the living legend who was Radamanthe...
Riditch : I forget many others, far from proving unworthy ... may we remember of them....
Paolen nods with her mask.
The echo seems to repeat endlessly : Ki'atal... Kaikyo...Kiriga... sharükos...Karan... Radamanthe...
Riditch : Homins Aiye !

Paolen prays for all lost peoples.
Laipoko prays
Kiwalie feels the presence of Ki'atal
Zorroargh don't pray, but cannot hide a tear flowing
L'écho répète toujoursThe echo is still repeating : Ki'atal... Kaikyo...Kiriga... sharükos...Karan... Radamanthe...
Feylin look if someone else wnat to say his tribute
Denakyo moves forward, tremblign, still crying, and put down a bunch of flowers at the base of the altar.
Kiwalie burst into sobs by thinking at Kaikyo , the gentler of all homins
Denakyo : I pray for the rest of all who could'nt leave in time, expecially py parents, who stayed in Jen lai...
Osquallo mumbles something for himself.
Denakyo is muted because of emotion, and ratehr go back in the rows.
The Kami whispers to the heart of the homins there : with Kamis, forever...
Shaakya breathe deeply in order to calm her emotion
Supplice nods with his mask and close strongly his eyes

Feylin moves slowly forwards
Feylin : Taunwe, Ki'atal Lae Lia ....
Zorroargh stare
Feylin : You couldn't leave in time, nobody really knows what happened to you.
Feylin : Paï I do believe that with your adoptive daughter, Be'Tsy, you all three left as free hominas.
Feylin dries some tears on her mask, before resuming.
Zorroargh stares at the fireflies to avoid being filled by emotion
The echo repeats tirelessly : Ki'atal... Kaikyo...Kiriga... sharükos...Karan... Radamanthe... parents... Taunwe...Be'Tsy...
Feylin : Kaikyo, mayumé ...
Feylin : During a long time, I cried without understanding ....
Feylin : Today, remembering of your last smile toward me, I have faith ....
Feylin : One day, we will be together again.
Feylin turns back and join the rows

Paolen Look at the Awakened with respect.
Kiwalie is crying
A soft warmth seems to envelop Fey-Lin.
The warmth seems now to envelop all present people, to appease the sorrow.

Mindae hesitate then move forward again
Mindae : I heard voices
Shaakya notice that Zor'o Argh is here, and send him a small and sad smile.
Mindae : from warriors who fought so that one day the bark flourishes again
Mindae : I heard voices,
Mindae : From those who didn't believe of new worlds, and prefered to be taken away by the swarm.
Mindae : I heard voices
Mindae : From survivors who couldn't bear what we became
The echo repeats : voices... voices... voices...
Mindae : and then, there is this voice, speaking to me ... right now
Mindae : this voice telling me to dream ...

The echo repeats : dream... dream... dream...
Mindae step back in silence
Osquallo looks in the space.
The Kami Seems to speak to the heart of the homins : with Kamis they are ... forever...
Riditch remember the light column which took Yrkanis away and tighten his fists, angry
Zorroargh answers with a sad nod to Shaakya
The echo seems to add : with you they are ... forever ...
Riditch : *low* Sil... Yrkanis Aiye...
The echo repeats : with you... forever...
Feylin look if someone has a tribute to say
Kiwalie has the throat knotted by sobs
The echo keeps repeating : Ki'atal... Kaikyo...Kiriga... sharükos...Karan... Radamanthe... parents... Taunwe...Be'Tsy... warriors...
Supplice grab a bit of soil at his feet
Denakyo cries a long and silent sob
Supplice bring the wet lump of soil and melted snow in front of his mask
A soft warmth envelops each homin again.
Supplice smiles looking a light going away.
Supplice whipsers : Kamis... forever
The soft warmth seems to caress theyr cheeks, as to dry their tears.=
Riditch : Deles necat Ki'atal, Taunwe, Be'tsy, Kaikyo,.... I will miss you ...
Feylin steps forward, and turn solemnly toward the homins.
Kiwalie watch Supplice, pensive
Feylin : We, survivors, have to go back to our City with the Memories of our Lost Ones.
Feylin close her eyes a moment, then start to walk.

On the road to Jen Laï, a zorai tell :
Paolen speaks for herself.
Paolen : One day I met a child. The Swarm took his parents and sister but despite this he was smiling. I asked him why, and he answered me : my familiy gave me so much during their lives, that I can only be grateful for having shared moments of their lives.

Finally, the march stopped on an empty place of Jen Laï. The following is a piece of theater and the tyllidohl cannot render the actor's play .... By chance, maybe a homin would have animated lucio to share.
Feylin : It is time to celebrate the Return, because it was only possible thanks to those who bravely gave their life for that.
Zorroargh rather stay behind
Feylin : We owe to lost ones to live fully.
Feylin add : We prepared something .... but everyone has not come back.
Denakyo think that some will never come back...
Feylin : Well, we can still get ready.
Feylin : Kiwalie, Yragael, LaIpoko, come closer
Laipoko : Yui !
Feylin whispers something to Kiwalie
Feylin looks at Yragael : lao
Feylin : where are ....
Feylin : We lack someone ....
Zorroargh whispers to Shaakya: I came to give my support to my friends ... but I have to go.
Clintya bows to Supplice.
Shaakya whispers : I understand
Feylin sighs : a pity ....
Zorroargh : Would you greet Feylin for me ?
Chonchon bows to Clintya.
Feylin : I will need a stand-in actor.
Kiwalie look at Mindae
Zorroargh bows deeply.
Feylin : Anyone who can come play a role ?
Shaakya bows deeply to Zorroargh.
Mindae step forward
Feylin look at Mindae : perfect, you're dressed in white
Feylin : Kiwalie, can you give her an accessory ?
Kiwalie : already done
Shaakya wonders what's going on

Feylin hit three times her shield to announce a traditionnal theater show.
Supplice wonders Mu Shua-Lao will play too
Feylin : The life continued in the Cities of Intuition
Laipoko (dressed with light vestments) looks around her with casual manners.
Feylin : But anxiety grew : kitins were getting restless at the gates of the Cities.
Laipoko is afraid of kitins
Feylin : The authorities reassured all inhabitants, and regrouped them in the capital.
Yragael (dressed as soldier) try to calm Laipoko.
Kiwalie and Mindae were dressed in white, wearing an insectoid matis shield of buckler to figure kitins
Kiwalie imitates an agressive kirosta
Laipoko is calm.
Feylin : The kitins were gathering, more and more.
Kiwalie provokes Yragael.
Kiwalie look at Yragael with a hungry look.
Feylin : the homins took the path to Pyr, leaving their cities behind them
Yragael watch out
Mindae waves her mandibles like a hungry kipesta
Mindae shows her sharp mandibles
Feylin : But the kitins didn't come for bark or amber, they pursued the homins.
Supplice stays out of the path
Kiwalie kirosta wants to eat homins
Feylin hit her shield one time, to indicate that the scene change place.
Mindae shakes her legs, jingling with an awful noise
Feylin : In Pyr, a fleeing plan was going to be applied, the homins would go to a secret Kami oasis, from where they would leave to a secured place.
Feylin : The kitins prepared many ambushes on the road.
Shaakya remembers the story of the Exodus that she found in an amber cube left by her cousin.
Gunbra thinks about her family, the sharükos and all homins who never saw the end of the road.
(from now Kiwalie and Mindae were renamed into Kipesta and Kirosta, Yragael as Guard, Laipoko as Refugee)
Kipesta, agressive, spits her venom
Feylin : All those who were skilled with weapon or magic defended the refugees.
Guard defend the refugees
Feylin : the Kipestas spitted fire, the Kirostas sprayed their venom
Kipesta spits here venom again.
Kirosta burns homins
Feylin : Many died in this day, but their sacrifice allowed their relatives to survive.
Feylin see that Refugee disapeared
Shaakya let silent tears roll along her cheeks
Kirosta turn around its preys
Kipesta leave, hunting for other targets
Feylin : Now, it is our duty, as survivors, to always honor the bravery of those we owe our lives

Feylin : Ochi Kami no
Feylin hits her shield three times
Feylin bows deeply.

While actors bow, the spectators applause, moved by the piece of theater. Then the Awakened invite the homins to warm up their heart in the bar, with some hot beverages, and while some go empty a last drink in the memory of their friends, others just scatter.

But there were indeed many spirits of the dead this evening, who accompanied the prayers of the homins ... some whose name was evoked, others who were forgotten, some who stayed apart of the ceremony, not daring to approach, fearing to regret their past life... But all heard the prayers of the living who were staying, and blesse them, wishing them to enjoy the Bark longer than they could themselves.

Thanks for this beautiful ceremony...

(and thanks for the original report)]]>

Never said it was an event solely for a part of the community just being able to speak one language. But what I said was that I got the feeling of an event mainly consisting of native french speaking people, which in return showed mostly as French being mainly spoken and then translated for those not able to understand.
Sure what was said by others like Zhoi had too be translated back into French for those only able to understand that, too.
But as mentioned before, we should find a more suitable solution as it's now.]]>

I guess I'm so hesitant about this idea because guild politics are not nation politics. So why should it actually have to be strictly aligned to nation fame. And now having said that, maybe I'm actually thinking that guilds should not have any fame/nation/religion restrictions.

How would that feel? If simply anyone could join any guild? Guilds could implement their own voluntary membership policy. Would that be a good thing?]]>

"Shh," Xarae hushed him, not taking her focus away from the intricate piece of amber and seed she was carving. "If the guards hear you calling me 'friend', their attitudes toward us may become much less tolerant."

"Huh," Sui snorted as he stood over Xarae and watched as several of the guards surrounded a small kincher, "those crazy wood brains? They've been out here so long I doubt they even realize you're Fyrosian. By the dragon, they don't even have the time to notice such things with all the fighting that goes on down there." He thought about the fights that broke out between the guards of the camp on an almost daily basis. He watched as the guards danced with the kincher, dodging and parrying its blows and striking it from behind with bravado. After toying with the kincher for bit, and after one of the guards was shocked by an electrical bolt from the creature, they finally put the thing out of its misery and returned to camp, pumped with adrenaline and looking for another battle. The amount of time many of these soldiers were stationed here tended to drive them more than a little crazy.

"Fine, fine," Sui chuckled, "then you shall continue to be called 'my dear servant'." He sat down besides her. Xarae usually pretended to be servantile in the presence of Matis, so as not to draw unwanted attention.

"My dear servant," Sui continued in a playfully mocking tone, jovially stabbing at the renowned superiority complex of the Matis. "I was playing a game of Kincher Bones with a few of the guards when I overheard Vara Cuiri talking with a Zorai stranger, on her way to Yrkanis I think."

"Who?" Xarae said, still focused more on her craft than the conversation.

"The hawker that visits the camp on occasion, Vara Cuiri." said Sui, somewhat annoyed at having to stop his story, "or do you mean the Zorai? That I just mentioned was a stranger?"

"Ah, yes, Hawker. That is her name to me." Xarae said simply as she focused in on the piece of jewelry with intensity, carefully setting the newly cut amber into the still drying carved seed.

"Anyway," Sui continued, "The Zorai was talking of the infected Igaras in Fearing Fen Farm and of the theory of their delivery, asking if Cuiri had any information that might help. Cuiri mentioned that a group of Trykers that had passed through the area not too long ago had told her a tale of a 'silly Fyros that got himself stucked in that nasty Scorched Corridor'. She said they kept mentioning that the Fyros talked of a strange convoy and that their descriptions of his descriptions were very similar to what the Zorai was describing."

"Sounds like a trustworthy chain of information you have collected there," Xarae mused in friendly sarcasm as she looked at the final form of her creation. "But, I do remember the Fyros trader. We would have joined the homins that went to his aid had we not been 'otherwise occupied'." The last part of her sentence was emphasized with a small snort.

"Hey, I've already apologized for that. Several times even," Sui said defensively. "How was I supposed to know that guard would have absolutely *no* sense of humor?"

"One would think that you would have learned by now," Xarae lightly scolded Sui as she put the fine piece of jewelry away in one of her sacs and started working on another, "that guards rarely have a sense of humor."

"Yeah, well," Sui kicked a rock over the edge of the spire wall. "Anyway, the point that I'm trying to make is that, if the information is at all true, then the thought that the igaras originate in the Witherings would be confirmed, likely even related to Pei-Ruz as some suspect. Also, the length of the journey, traveled in secrecy, just to bring igaras to the Fearing Fen Farm outpost would seem to indicate a strong network of support across several of the lands. If the Council of Dissent is still active, or even just some members of it, then their influence seems even greater than the stories would indicate and Marauder involvement is a clean bet."

"You do love a good world shaking drama, don't you?" Xara said, pulling another piece of amber from one of her bags.

"I'm just trying to put the puzzle pieces together. Either way, we should prepare. My guess is that the Rangers will be involved at some point, and we still need to develop some good contacts with the them."

"True enough," Xarae agreed, starting to shape the amber. "Shall we begin to make our way to the Witherings?"

"Not quite yet," Sui said, peering over the Border Guards encampment again. "We'll wait for more confirmation. Besides, I might have a new sword in my future after a few more games of Kincher Bones."

"Once again," Xarae said, this time shooting a wicked glare at Sui, "Guards have *no* sense of humor."

Sui smiled back at her.]]>

Yeah, your toon might be "thinking" something, but if you openly display that in the RP channel (around) then your toon is doing *something* that tips their intention to the crowd, or portions of it. If the statement was not meant to do that, then, as said by others, it does not belong in the RP channel. Otherwise, you're simply just trying to break RP.

Expressing information that is "suggested" but necessary to make a point and/or move along an RP path is important to good RP. Particularly when you're in an unfamiliar group. But trying to take advantage of the situation and then railing against the reactions is just detrimental.

And besides, when it comes down to it, are you really so sure those big blue Zorai *really* can't read minds? Sometimes I wonder...]]>

About the boss macro thing. There seems to be a limit to the number of lines you can put into a macro using the in-game editor. However, that limit does not exist in the keys_charactername.xml file that is in your save folder. You can open that file with any text editor and add lines to your Boss Locator macro. The format will be immediately obvious.

If you would like an xml file of all the bosses already written up, send me a private message with a working email in it and I will send you an attachmnet. (That's how I got the file, many years ago -- I do not claim to have coded it.)
Anyone else who wants it can write to me as well.

Dark and cloaked shapes were silently sliping into the Upper bog. A whisper here, a swearword there ... Almost nothing was betraying their presence in the heart of the forest starless night.

A stumbling, an obvioulsy quite heavy bag quickly adjusted on a shoulder, the plaintive cry of an overcomfident predator ....

Right ahead, the outpost of the Fearing Fen Farm. Completely cleared of Igaras.

Stiffled swearword : this time, it would be necessary to go in the place ... By chance, a scout came back, comfident : the path was clear.

Followed a cloaked march to the outpost, and bags were emptied without considerations, inert forms fell on the ground.

Pouf ! Schlach ! Boom ! Iiiiiiii...

Gloomy laugh carried away by the wind, while the shapes disappear in darkness....

At dawn, purple Igaras were populating the outpost again.

. . .

Close from there, exhausted by a fifth long night staying awake, covered with stinky mud, two matis have been witnesses of the scene ....]]>

<![CDATA[Drain Damage Spells]]> http://app.ryzom.com/app_forum/index.php?page=topic/view/17329/6#116006 Tue, 04 Jun 2013 19:08:50 +0000 Ideas For Ryzom (arispotle) http://app.ryzom.com/app_forum/index.php?page=post/view/116006 My experience is that the links break too quickly and thus you lost a lot of sap/hp for casting a spell that doesn't do a lot of initial damage.

I would like to see
a. more initial damage
or
b. higher success rate in keeping links alive
or
c. damage increases over time so that at least it makes you keep trying
or
d. adjustment to amplifiers as mentioned]]>
