A New Beginning

Daomei (Leanon)
Karnig, I agree that not so many ppl take part in Ryzom Core Projekt, but there are a couple who did and still do, and their contributions are significant. For example, there was a major code revision of the NeL engine which, in the original version, was somewhat messy to say the least, and quite a lot of bug fixing.

Much of that code revision to NeL was me and dating back to 2003-2004 it was myself and a fella named 'Debug'. After the last bankrupty I forked NeL (called it OpenNeL) and we gutted all of the STLport specific garbage out of it so you can switch freely and then began porting everything in full to multiple platforms.

Today the major contributors whom are players are myself, Kervala and Kaetemi - I hope they don't mind me calling them out. I never said that the community isn't doing stuff for Ryzom. We've brought in some really great people through outside interest and through Summer of Code and we've been working really hard on modernizing tools and so on. What I am saying is that I always hear players say they're going to do this and it's been essentially the same three players for a decade. I really wish I would see more players come in.

Edit: I wanted to mention that I had a tumultous relationship with the owners of Ryzom for many years. I always had to fight to get my patches accepted. When Winch Gate took over they immediately asked if I would be willing to merge back and invited me to help. These guys do a great job of collaborating with their open source community unlike most commercial companies with an 'open source' side.
