While I do not know when this will be fixed (hopefully with the upcoming patch in a couple of weeks) I want to warn about another related problem:
When a packer or mount dies, the player usually has a grace period of about 72hrs to empty the inv of deceased creature. Due to the timer problems, this period is shortened to the login period. Once you log out, the packer or mount will be gone on next login. Please spread this warning.
