Leveling much past about 35 on Silan is a slow slog for Fight or Offensive Magic (Ele), hard for Defensive Magic, and just plain masochism for dig/craft.
There are plenty of low-level mobs around each capitol that even a level 1 toon can solo to start out. The main missions alone put you around 25-30 in Fight and Ele. Just remember, when you get to Yrkanis, following the road leading West out of town is full of dogs that will make you want to go North or South of the road if you don't want to get bit.
