An OP for Phaedreas Tears

Nair-Pom --

I submit that I have indeed followed the Precepts and even my own vow against personal PvP. The Precepts do not forbid PvP, and indeed some Rangers indulge in Guild vs. Guild activities.

The Precepts
Memory - We honor the memory of Oflovak Rydon. : Not applicable except in that Oflovak performed his tasks for all homins.
Preservation - We preserve the Path for all homins: Not relevant.
Service - Discipline and duty give us strength. : The meditation on this one reminds us that homins working together can do things that homins alone cannot. I saw an opportunity for homins to work together and an opportunity for the Ranger and neutral community to decide for themselves what they wanted to do. The decision to accept the Outpost was made by consensus of all active members of PT. The member who had the greatest misgivings chose to stand neutral
Diligence - Never rest until the job is done: I failed this one (due to RL obligations). Others did not.
Tolerance - Other homins may believe and act as they wish. : That means that I am free to do that also. Agan and the members of the Kami Alliance were free to do what they wished.
Balance: Weigh consequences before acting: This I did. The circumstances and reactions did, in fact, proceed pretty much as I had expected (with some disappointments). The guild made its decision based upon considerations balancing the test of concept vs. potential negative consequences and reactions. We considered also Tyneetryk's legacy for PT. The consequences are still unfolding. We accept them.

As for defending the Outpost, read what I have said carefully.  I requested that Rangers and neutrals meet , "please," "We would appreciate it..".  We were not asking for people who came to defend the Outpost for US, but for themselves.

One of the rewards of being a Ranger is the ability to make a decision on such matters without being given an order.  Another reward is the freedom to debate what the "correct" interpretation of the Precepts is.  It is in that spirit of debate that I write the above response.

In sincere appreciation,

MacOd Bittty.

Phaedreas Tears - 15 years old and first(*) of true neutral guilds in Atys.
(*) This statement is contested, but we are certainly the longest lasting.
