DISCUSSIONS AROUND ONGOING PROJECTS

Discussion around "Fyros event sequence: "Looking for the past""

There is a simple reason for: It can never be guaranteed that a scheduled boss hunt will take place at all, and if so, whether it extends to all four bosses. The bosses fought are not reserved to the boss hunt party. In times when different parties competed for the bosses regularly, gentlemen agreements between the parties concerned were frequent, but it could happen anytime that the bosses were not present. Also, it may happen that the damage available is unsufficient to kill all of the bosses (e.g. Lixie or Pei as the most susceptible ones to lack of firepower).

No that doesn't hold up as a reason, let a lone a simple one. It can't be guaranteed So what ? When planning a BBQ for a 3 day weekend, I look at the weather forecast and it says :

Saturday: Thunderstorms
Sunday: Chance of Rain
Monday: Sunny

None of those forecasts are 100% guaranteed but which day would you pick ? The events are not 100% guaranteed either. What % would it have to be where one would intentionally schedule conflicting events ? If it's 99% does it make it a good idea ? 90% ? .. knowing that 9 outta 10 times you will eliminate 25 - 40 folks ... going back into our guild attendance records , for 2017, I see that it was cancelled once (2017-06-04). That's not a 100% guarantee but its 98% .  So no, I see no logic behind the mindset that says "we have a 2% chance that this won't be an issue".

When I brought the subject of Event Team not knowing about regularly scheduled player events such as this, that reasoning was described as "strange"

The issue is a simply yes or no question:

Will you have more folks attend an event with or without a conflict ?

In our team of 9, 1 went late and 4 would have gone if it hadn't started already.

As has already been demonstrated, the reliability of an event happening on date and on time is no more reliable than the Hunts. In my experience, when competing events happen, the hunt is always on on and is only cancelled when not enough folks show up.... once in 2017

It's a simple thing ... please refer back to the quote on event planning. If you want an event to be successful, do NOT schedule when you know you will have competition, it's pure common sense, excuses nonwithstanding. It existence is widely known among 99+% of the player base. Yes, sometimes a boss isn't there... what's the impact ? We are all there; the impact is a post in Uni, "Aen down, start at Pei.... the event still occurs." Recent events have had Event Leaders as no shows also.

When the cooperative hunts were restarted on this server, announcements were made, several meetings were held and the "every 5 days schedule" was established. How much reminding does one need to remember "every 5 days" ?

What would happen to a program director at a TV studio who opens their new big new series up against the Super Bowl ? Unemployment.

Why are opening days of movie releases set up and oft rescheduled so as to avoid competition w/ other big releases ?

When I was president of my professional organization, what would I do if they scheduled our convention in conflict with another event chasing the same audience ? They would be replaced.
