I use the Year of Jena to state my age since it makes me feel younger.
In addition, some of the seasonal changes have variations that follow the Year of Jena rather than the Atys Year.
That being said, I know that some would count their age by the Atys Year rather than the Year of Jena because that will make them appear older and wiser.
As for celebrations with fine drink and such, contact the event team and see if they are willing to help. I know that they have done so for various guild/personal anniversaries in the past.
