My name is Ash, but to other Homins, im known as Jaguarpaw (surprised the name is not taken) lol. I started playing ryzom about 5-6 days ago and during my time on silan and the little time ive spent on the mainland...ive been thinking about what faction to pledge my alleigance to, or just stay neutral.
I finally decided to go karavan because thats what my race is most inclined to do and it would make the most sense, and after seeking advice from the veterans of atys, i was faced with two choices..SA or RW...
I believe I was online the day you were asking that question, Jaguarpaw. There are more factions than just Karavan or Kami. There is also Marauder and Ranger. I think there are some others also but I don't know about them.
Advice received casually on uni is sometimes not complete.
I would advise reading the Lore (shift + w >>>Lore). You don't have to read it all but skim the highlights. :)
There are many guilds on Atys. Some big and some small. SA is a fine guild. RW is a fine guild. Ozwomen has a guild I'm not sure what faction. Fluffy Bunnies is Kami but a seemingly friendly, helpful guild. The Grave of the Fireflies is Kami a very nice guild. You can go to the guild forums and read up on each guild. Obviously you have found the guild forums.
There is also a guild app in the app store. I don't think that has been updated for a while. It is helpful for sorting things out roughly though. :)
Placio has a guild. Bitttymacod is in an old guild. Part of looking for a guild is looking for what kind of things they like to do. Mainly crafting, pvping etc.
Shadowalkers a marauder guild I believe takes in new players.
But when trying to contact a guild. You should look at the first entry for contact information.

Then send an ingame mail or tell to one of the contact people.
Please don't make a decision for faction and guild based on a couple of random lines of chat in uni.
