Arfur's Story

Beginnings:

My earliest memories are of waking up on Silan. I remember nothing before that, apart from darkness and confusion. I know that I will, most probably, never find my family. It is because of this that I have a strong need to help others.

After training I chose to move to Yrkanis in the Forest, homeland of my people. I found that although I can be very self-reliant, I also need to belong. I found friends and made new ones, and after some thought I decided to join a guild.

During my training I had come to have strong convictions about the Brotherhood of all Homins, a feeling that we all need to stand together. It was only later that I realised with some consternation that there were tensions between the peoples. I read as much of the history of our peoples as I could, and came to understand the reasons for the mistrust between Homin peoples.

I had always had the feeling that I should be neutral in any dispute, helpful to all Homins and if possible a bringer of peace and understanding. While researching the guilds I realised that most have taken sides in one way or another. This was anathema to me. I spent some time talking with Homins from the various Guilds in the Forest, especially Phaedreas Tears. Their stance is neutral and their stated aim is to help new arrivals - it seemed a close fit with my own convictions. Talking to others, however, made me think in different terms. I am Matis and proud of it. I wanted to explore my heritage and if possible use my research to uncover new truths that would bring the peoples together. I would still help others without favour or obligation.

I began to enjoy the company of the Homins from Cara Via and there I found my home. I have found friendship and honour, and a sense of belonging to something. A family in all but name.
