Lotta questions in Uni of late about occupations so pulled this from posts in the old Ryzom Forums:

Occupation Recipe Logic:
- All recipes have a base value of 100%.
- Each number you pick is a "deduct" from 100%.
- At Echelon 1 the deducts are all multiples of 3.33 which when you see on screen is rounded to the nearest whole number
-0.00 % (0 x 3.33)
-6.67% (2 x 3.33)
-13.33% (4 x 3.33)
-20.00% (6 x 3.33)
-23.33% (7 x 3.33)
-26.67% (8 x 3.33)
-30.00% (9 x 3.33)
The total amount of deducts is capped at 70%
So bigga deal, what can ya use that knowledge for ?
Well what can ya figure from this on Ech 4 for example ?
17634 = 87
17635 = 57
Since 30 is the max deduct, at least thru Ech 4, that 4 in step 5 is a guaranteed right number.
How about this ? 17334 = 77% ?
That would mean you have 4 of the 5 numbers right since no combination of 2 or more numbers adds up to -23
More math; it's a simple one for purposes of explanation but gives the general idea:
Friday
Player A --- 7 5 1 5 5 --- 87.00%
Thursday
Player B --- 7 5 5 5 3 --- 80.00%
Player A --- 7 5 5 5 5 --- 67.00%
Player A and B are working together to solve the riddle of Ech whatever; Player A who is working step 3 just tried the Friday recipe. He looks over the previous day's efforts and sends a PM to Player B, who is working step 5) giving him the 100% formula. Can you get the 100% recipe outta the above ?
Thursday's efforts showed that a 3 is +13% better than the 5 which if added to Friday's recipe ends the suspense. 7 5 1 5 3 is 100%.
