[All] Reconstruction of the Kitin Observation Camps

It is with great weariness that Mac'Od Bittty once again approaches the wall of the stable with a stack of copied letters and a couple of fresh maps. His hands bear the marks of freshly healed wounds as he uses a bit of glue resin to paste some maps over others for comparison. Finally he posts a new letter and moves on to go to the next stable wall.

18h - Holeth, Folially 12, 3rd AC 2575 (22 November 2013)

To all who come to read this, greeting:

It has been some small time since I updated the maps. I do not guarantee that these updates are complete; I am but one homin and the investigations I have made have taken many days of trekking from one place to another and from one land to another.

The situation in Aeden Aqueous seems to have stabilized somewhat. After a moderately successful few days killing what I could of white kitins some of them have not come back. However some of them have, and new pods have appeared very close to ones that were slaughtered. Some of these have the same species of kitins, some of them have new species as if in reaction to the killing.

These last several days (*) I spent patrolling the region of Fleeting Garden, following up on the report by Irfidel. I started at the Kami altar and looked to the camp of the Sacred Sap tribe. There were no white kinchers therein, but there was one over near the cliffs -- it was only one and even though it was "protected" by various gingos, I slew it. I was then set on by so many gingos that I fled to the Sacred Sap camp for assistance. The guards, as always, gave me entrance and assistance.

I then proceeded west and found a set of three pods of white kipukas south of the road in the southwest, then a set of white kipestas a little north of those then...

Over the period of time that I patrolled Fleeting Garden (with the assistance of Ranger aspirant Meggy, then of my guildmate Mannicmatt and then my guildmate Hwinoree as it happened that they were available to heal me) I discovered no less than THIRTY previously unreported pods of white kitins. If you look on the new map of the Forest Lands you may see them. It seems to me that perhaps the Matis do not travel in that region any more that so many of them were not reported.

One pod in particular appeared near the Sacred Sap camp after a day or so; a pod of white kipukas near, but not in exactly the same location, and a pod of kinchers well to the south of the camp, almost at the border to Heretics Hovel.

I then traveled to Oflovaks Oasis, where there had been a report of white kitins quite near to the Kami altar. I found none on the border of the lake there, but I did find a pod of kirostas in the southeast-most corner, close to the road that leads to Pyr! Worried that this might be a sign of some new movement I traveled north along the border and discovered two pods of white kipukas in Barkgully and two new pods of kinchers in the north. I also discovered a new pod of kirostas along the road between the two ruins and a pod of kipestas just next to Clopper hill. All of them I killed.

I am worried. The numbers of white kitins increase and they are increasingly located nearer and nearer to the capitals.

I will rest a few days then travel to the Witherings. I wonder if this is how Wilk Potskin feels after doing his patrols in the Old Lands. If it is, I do not wonder that on occasion he is curt in his replies. I will have to send a copy of this to him.

by my hand,
Mac'Od Bittty
