The limit is there for a reason. This game like all games depends on limits for the gameplay to balance. It is not a matter of restricting 'Freedom'.
Don't hoard mats and gear, and if your GH is getting full its time to start selling stuff. Or crafting then selling stuff. Or encourage guild members to get their own apartments and there's your extra storage.
