Hm, there's an alternative to the Apple Store:

Basically you follow kervala's instructions there in downloading the zip, then running the upgrade.
In post #9 you menioned running v2.0.0. I believe the latest version is 2.1.0. The game auto-updates itself only on Windows. Us Linux users and you Mac folks must manually update by running an upgrade script.
It often happened that the version in the Mac Store lagged behind the update procedure. So maybe installing outside of the Mac Store, kervala's version, and running that update script yourself helps.
The second reason why I think it may help is that it may (I don't know since I cannot test) install into a different location. So another chance to start from a clean slate :-)
