This is happening for me as well. It started about 5 days ago and takes about 6-7 mins to load until I get a log in screen. I was thinking it was a windows 8 thing, although it wasn't doing this before on 8.
I also have a really bad memory leak with the client. I can open task manager and watch the memory use climb non stop until eventually the program crashes.
I am running Windows 8 with UAC turned off on a i5 quad core with 8gig of ram . I don't have this problem with any other games or programs and have not made any changes to my software in that time.

No windows defender, I use cloud based Symantec Endpoint protection 13 since version 12 doesn't work with windows 8.
